    I have just purchased one of each variety in the GWR panelled livery which is superbly recreated when you consider its complexity. They look fine when coupled to my 4-4-2 county tank. My only criticism is the close coupling by the bar. To those who run on a society layout, the conveying of them from and to the club is a problem involving uncoupling and coupling each time which runs the risk of damage. I agree with those who have already suggested that magnetic couplers would have been a better solution.

    An interesting and very different review. No issues on your layout, bright lights and good rolling. What type of rating came with these coaches as they don't seem to handle 2nd radius curves, the coaches have lighting issues on single point power layouts and there were issues with the brake rigging jamming the bogies. As 'sets" I guess they work well, they can be left in a siding when not used, but that can leave the lights on when the points are open. Fancy with flaws.

    They look fantastic, I’ve been debating these and the soon to be released rapido B-set, neither really suits my layout but both look great and rule of cool and all that…

      Oh definitely buy. I have 2 and they are splendid. The detail and quality of the models are top level. What you get for the money blows the competition out the water.

      Unfortunately, the B set suits mine... I have the 44xx on order already.

    Really like the finishing details an the close-coupling. Very nice coaches.
    Is there no flexible system yet to allow close coupling and also the tighter curves? Seems an obvious requirement.

    I love these coaches. I bought four of them upon release (did have to send one back to RoS for a replacement as one wheel set had a deformed bogie which made it derail a lot). The only nitpick I have is with the bar couplings. Too short if you have anything less than radius 3 curves. I've swapped them out for some slightly longer magnetic couplings and they run perfectly now. Good review, Mr Slade.

      One of mine has detailed a couple of times. Yeah not a fan of the couplings

    Not a modeller myself but detail looks very good and close coupling looks realistic, do the brake shoes line up with wheel treads ? Couldn't quite see in video

    Overall good video here Matt, I am currently on the lookout for some GWR coaches to go with both my 18000 and 18100 gas turbines, don’t think these are really appropriate for those locos unfortunately but they are nice coaches from Dapol, overall good review video on these, they looked very nice, them all together as a rake looked excellent, not sure whether I will get some but will keep them in mind.

    For £55 that's really quite a bargain and it looks the part when you have the lights turned out at Jubilee road. I'm loss for words and speechless. Okay I think the coupling might be an issue though putting a city class locomotive with the coaches made it look the part.

    Fantastic lookers, but clearly a couple tricky design issues. Still fab coaches overall. Make an excellent rake.

    Curious as to why you didn't go the whole hog and get the full 6-coach set, as they always ran as sets until very late in their careers in the late 50s under BR, when the sets were broken up. Using a 61xx would have been a more appropriate loco on a London suburban train than 'Truro' (especially in that livery) but as they say, rule 1 applies...your railway. 😉

    NEM couplings are way better, believe me. Could you create a magical Steam at Night running session, pretty please? Those coaches suit it to a t.

    • @Mattslade6024
      @Mattslade6024  6 месяцев назад

      They do have NEM couplins but with the bar instead of the tension locks
