  • Abject failure in the last video as you saw so why am I attempting yet more mechanical stuff on this poor car?! Moreover, where do I get the confidence to go back to ANY job on this car after the last debacle? I’m clearly an idiot: it’s the only reasonable conclusion.
    Yes, I have spent thousands on replacement Porsche sports seats and even $20 on air conditioning refrigerant. A monkey could do a better job but why not watch along even if so you can add your insult in the comments section at my complete and deserving expense. The Germans have a name for this type of video: schadenfreude. Really. Look it up.
    If you think that there’s any realistic chance for success, you are having a laugh, but maybe. MAYBE RIGHT? Surely the idiot can unbolt something and bolt something back in?! HAHAHA! Experience should be your guide here. This poor Porsche! Great thumbnail though, right? I mean, I really look smug and like I’ve nailed it! Perhaps I did! Watch along!
    You can download all my Porsche model guides at www.jayreadyoutube.com so go and take a look there, OK?
    Why not follow me on Instagram too? I am a CAR guy first and I get around so take a look at the reels and pictures that I take because you might like them! Also you get news on my own Porsche, my MG and other life events there before RUclips! Look for jayreadyoutube on Insta now!

    The button you refer to should in theory adjust for tilt/height Jay. I owned a 986 S twenty years ago, and being 6’3” I used it a lot, otherwise I looked over the top of the windscreen 😂

    • @askiff1415
      @askiff1415 2 года назад +1

      Agreed. The only way you’re going to get that to work (assuming the previous seats had height and rake adjustment) is take it to a specialist who can change the physical plugs to get them to work. If not they can plug in and talk to the ECU and enable the software so it will talk to the seat once the physical connections are fixed.

    Love those new seats, and the colour really does set the car off - great when a plan comes together 🍾🍾 and great very easy to understand vid of the refrigerant fill, which now reminds me that I need to do mine 😊 I’ve just gone through transmission oil and coolant changes over the last 2 days - both of which weren’t without dramas, but got there in the end! Great commentary again, and as always, keep ‘em comin’ 👍👍👍

    The seats look great now. You might need to check the air con I a day or so. I topped mine up last year only to find my rads were shot and needed replacing! I noticed you need a replacement sunvisor vanity mirror cover - I just picked up a cheap replacement (copy) on a well known auction site for less than £10 delivered! You really can’t tell the difference.

    Wow! I am MASSIVELY jealous of those seats! I really wish I had sport seats in my 996. Yours look great! In my car, the controls you asked about move the seat bottom up & down, so maybe if you get that working, it will solve your roll bar clearance issue.
    Nice work on the A/C! I did the same on mine right before the big Rockies road trip with James M. It made a huge difference.

  • @nickg2027
    @nickg2027 2 года назад

    @jay the gauge moves with the pressure and temp, as the temp goes up so does the pressure of the refrigerant. good that there was some in there, as this is a good sign that the system is fairly intact!
    The lever on the seat is for the height adjustment and you may need to be sat in it as its quite springy.
    the colour combo is very nice
    keep up the good work!!

    Hi Jay I have a 996 C4S with the same seats. If you sit on the seat and pull the bottom seat adjustment lever upwards and proceed to press your weight into the seat, it will go down in height. Alternatively if you pull the lever upwards whilst not in the seat, the seat will go upwards in height. Hope this helps 👍🏻

  • @a-verybasic2

    Thanks for the video Jay, the low level of refrigerant is due to a leak somewhere in the AC system. This must be located and repaired or you will be in the same situation in the future. You might want to try a commercial sealant, they can be helpful. Hopefully just adding refrigerant will get you cool for the summer. BTW, The seats look great!
