Overall I'm very happy with this wheel. It is over 580g heavier than the McLaren GT3 wheel (which I normally run at 70% force feedback in ACC using the 8NM CSL DD). With the Clubsport RS wheel I had the force feedback turned up to 85% to make it feel more responsive. The leather is very comfy and is great for longer racing sessions (without gloves). I gave this wheel a good test run in my latest live stream here ruclips.net/video/hMliTgwEWdo/видео.html Overall, I think this wheel make a excellent "all rounder" wheel for the CSL DD.
Have you tried this with 5Nm torque? Iam wondering if the CSL DD without the booster is powerful enough for this wheel as it is quite the bit heavier than the McLaren GT3, which I too own. This one would replace the Gran Turismo wheel I got from bundle. I calculated that 85% of the 8Nm you use would be 6,8Nm, at least in theory so there is a notable step down to 5Nm.
@@MikaTuukkanen So I just did a back to back test of the 5nm & 8nm booster pack in ACC (on PC) with the Clubsport RS with the wheelbase gain set to 100%. With the 5nm and game FFB 100% it felt a bit floaty compared to using the 8nm with game FFB on 85% so yes theres a noticable difference. Playing GT7 on the PS5 with the 5nm and FFB torque set to 10 in game it felt a bit better and comparible to the 8nm set to 4 in game. So there is variation depending on the game it seems.
@@HamVR Thank you for the information! I would use this wheel mostly for GT7, but not exclusively. GT7 has awesome FFB as there the 5Nm torque is plenty enough for strenght and detail, but in something like F12020 the FFB seems sluggish and weak. But I have to think whhat my next step would be for my sim racing setup. Would you say that the Clubsport RS is notably better than CSL steering wheels? As I have thought about bying the CSL BWM instead, which would save me a bit over 200€ and might be more suitable for the 5Nm, if I eventually don't decide to upgrade to 8Nm. Biggest problem on surface is the button layout, which seems quite bad in CSL wheels.
In my opinion, 5nm isn't enough torque for use with this wheel. If you are using the 5nm psu I think the lighter weight CSL Elite WRC and new CSL BMW steering wheels would be better choices.
hey great review, didnt know what the big screw was for but now i do!I have just got the same one along with 8nm dd base clubsport v3 pedal set, damper, load cell kit handbrake, all still in the box as i dont know how to set it all up, currently on a logitech 923 set, the wheel looks confusing with all the buttons etc and wires n plugs, i do diy and could do it myself but cannot seem to get a guide on 1st time set up and settings configuration. i want to use on my pc acc, project cars and grid for some arcade fun, and ps4 gt sport, dirt 4, not sure how to, so meantime its all in the storage closet til i get some advice, any pointers would be very appreciated, thanks in advance hope to be up and running asap, cheers, Jay.
Hey Jay, thanks for your post. I might do a settings guide in Future. In the mean time xheck out our Discord we exchange lots of Sin Racing hardware setup tips on there discord.hamvr.uk
I don't think the size would be the problem or the weight unless you are using the 5nm power pack. The extra weight might even help with the wheel inertia for drifting. The main problem I see is the LED rev counter could get in the way if you are trying to catch a spinning wheel. Some people remove the rev indicator and put a blanking pate in.
@@HamVR I've opted for a podium hub with a real drift wheel after doing more research but your answer was still informative and helpful, and yes it probably will get in the way.
I mainly play GT3 and just few occasions other cathegories, I'm getting a CSL DD 8NM and V3, is this a good election or should I go for the Mclaren? Thank you in advance.
If you'd said exclusively drive GT3 and Formula I would say get the GT3. If you mostly drive GT3 and sometimes other cars, then I would go for the Clubsport RS. It's a better all round choice (no pun intended). Also the Porsche GT3 has a round wheel so it's still immersive in that sense. I really enjoy the leather grip, but you do notice the weight/inertia difference.
Hi, nope Fanatec did not send me this. I pre-ordered back in October. The availablity dates often move back and forwards on their site. I'm guessing with the pandemic they are struggling with component availablity.
My wheelbase won't go into X-box mode with this Clubsport RS on it (unlike my McLaren GT3 wheel) so I'm guessing no it won't work. I don't have an X-box to test though.
Anyone using this on a DD1? My revlight LEDs seem to randomly blink at a very dim setting. It's not really an issue (can't be bothered sending it back) but kinda curious to know if it's a product fault or just some weird oddity in the firmware.
just a question did u feel any lack of ffb fidelity between mclaren and CS rs on csl dd because of that weight diff and can 8nm csl dd handle the wheel ez ?
Not really a difference in fidelity I can feel all the force feeback details, just the response time feels a little slower with the extra mass. The 8nm is fine for this wheel, 5nm wouldn't be enough IMO.
Hey, I'm not sure really. I suspect that it will leave holes behind if you did that, which I don't think would be problem if you find a bigger logo to cover them up.
Did you notice anyflex? Like with the Fanatec WRC wheel even with the QR1 it seems to have some flex from the plastic of the wheel. and this wheel looks to be plastic too!
I've not noticed any flex at all on this wheel rim. It has a plastic casing but judging by the weight, it feels like it has metal internals. It's more than sturdy enough for the CSL DD with booster pack.

Very nice review of this wheel. I just purchased it along with the CSL DD. Thank you sir :)
Thanks for this review, I have added it to my wishing list :)
Very helpfull video. It actually convinced my to buy this wheel. Thank you!
Ordered mine today from Ireland.
Hopefully be here tomorrow.
Looks beautiful.
Cheers mate. Well excited now.
Bboy.
It's a great wheel, I'm sure you will love it!
Hi Ham VR , does the shifter lights and speed/gear display work with GT7? Thanks

Can 5nm psu csl dd handle with this steering wheel? Or it will be heavy for 5nm?

is this gonna be too big/heavy for drifting? I like the look over the WRC a lot more, please someone help.
I do 70% drifting / 30% cruising.

Shame they removed the rumble motors though. I know many people don't care for them, but I really like them.
Looks great really
Yes it's my favourite wheel out of the two, I'm hardly using the GT3 wheel at the moment.

Did fanatec send u this?? Cause for me it says that the wheel releases on the 4th and that the dd releases on the 3rd

@@HamVR ok, I was pretty confused since it says that I can preorder it
I wish it had the OLED display instead of the 7 segment display. Makes it look cheaper than it should be. Otherwise looks good
Curious Fanatec's site say its a PC/PS wheel and not Xbox compatible. Is that confirmed?

Not seen that happen with my CSL DD yet.
It came with the quick release or did you had to order that separately?
Hi, it come with the quick release included.
@@HamVR thank you :)

didn't know you could use the podium paddles so much you can do definitely gonna get a button kit and wrap it first tho when i get it
Hi do you think we can easily remove the Fanatec logo in the front ? So I can fit another logo on a flat surface ? Thx bro
Hey, I'm not sure really. I suspect that it will leave holes behind if you did that, which I don't think would be problem if you find a bigger logo to cover them up.

Thanks a lot for this video.
Glad it was helpful 👍
ist das Ienkrad für den dd pro gts geeignet?
This one or the bmw v2?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Are u still happy with this
Yes, it's my favourite wheel.
do you use stickers or button caps?@@HamVR
is it good for Drifting does that LED gets in way?
I don't drift race so I can't say. it's not been a problem for rallying.
@@HamVR was wondering the same thing, seems like the bar would catch your hands

It looks like the Porsche wheel because it is. It’s just black leather and no Porsche badge besides that it’s the same exact rim
I think the Porsche wheel has vibration motors and older (non magnetic) style paddles.
