    The BMW wheel is still one of the best round wheels on the market imo. I've used alot and people dont get the quality of this is as good as the others you can buy at the higher end level. Also that Alcantara regardless of what peoppe say this is true Italian Alcantara and I get mad when some bash fanatecs quality when they do wheels like this it's pure class and quality. It's so so good and feels so good in the hand.
    Also leave sensitivity on another and should work fine.

      Can confirm it's a quality wheel indeed, I actually prefer using it to my F1 style rim these days when I can choose between the two, although the material has started threading and coming away on the lower right hand side of the wheel unfortunately. I started wearing gloves a couple of months ago but it might be too little too late I fear 😬

    As someone who owned almost all fanatec wheels i can agree with Dan. This wheel is a gem! The V1 was a heavy wheel, but the driving experience was fantastic! But Dan! This wheel demands gloves if you want to keep your wheel clean!

      After doing some more research, they reduced the weight in the V2 wheel by removing the rumble motors. Now that I know this, and holding my BMW wheel in one hand and F1 wheel in the other (which _does_ have rumble motors) I can definitely feel the difference. It's quite substantial actually 😅 although that said, the vibration in the F1 wheel is quite a subtle effect and not something I had in my old round wheel either so it's not like I'll be missing it in this BMW wheel. Big +1 on the gloves too, you're not the first person to mention that 👍 I have a pair hung up on the shelf behind me, I just need to get into the habit of wearing them...

    Lovely, that was the first wheel i got for my CSL DD and I love it (albeit being a bit biased as I am fan of the BMW cars). The alcantara starts to wear a bit after 1.5 years of using though.

    Love this rim 👍 I've been using it a lot. Can be a bit tricky to reach some of the buttons though. Especially in VR. And gloves is a good thing to save the alcantara. Great video btw. Hope all is well. Cheers from a now snowy (again) Sweden. Winter never ends 😒

      Cheers to you too Captain 😎 it's the never ending summer over here, days above 35c, nights that don't go below 28c and a stack of humidity thrown in for good measure too...want to swap? 😅
      About the wheel though, it's absolutely fantastic. I haven't had a proper race with it yet though so will have to see about the button placement mid-race, but from my hotlapping and testing so far it actually feels really good...much more accessible than the Porsche endurance button pack which seemed a lot bigger by comparison. Maybe it was the wheel rim being 350 instead of 320 that made the buttons feel really far away 🤔but Bincar this weekend should be a proper test!

      The threads started to come undone on mine, and the alcantara is really rough on my gloves, so I ended up wrapping the grip areas in tennis racket grip strips. And it feels wonderful. AND you can use it without gloves now.

    Agreed with all the comments, the WRC wheel is a lot more plasticy by comparison. The only downside I found on the BMW wheel was the right hand thumbstick/joystick has a press in button function, when trying to press that button in (to confirm a menu selection) I found myself also pressing down which changed whatever I had selected....not a major problem but I did do it repeatedly while flicking through menus.

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer Год назад +1

      I haven't encountered that problem with the thumb joystick yet 🤔 although I should probably get a few races under my belt with it first to get a proper idea, it's only been test laps so far! I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks for the heads up mate 👍

      It is not plasticky I swear some of yall dont even own these. Also the v2 has great buttons fanatec has redone alot of there wheels buttons and switched. There funky switches are now some of the best. The shifters are some of the best with magnets and the wheel itself is not plasticky lol.
      The back plate is plastic sure but it feels heavy and quality with the metal fact plate and when on the base it feels extremely rigid and doesn't flex.

    I was using CSL-DD with just the Formula Club almost whole last year (go it just before 2021 Xmass). And when Fanatec had sale at the end of 2022, I've decided to get the WRC, just for better immersion when it comes to vintage cars. Long story short, I'm now using the Formula wheel only with formulas, DTM2020,modern GT3s, i.e. cars that use that style of wheel IRL - and for the rest I'm using the WRC. If I knew, I would definitely go with this BMW one, now I'm just thinking about getting the metal release adapter, the plastic one is somewhat... ehmm... funny :)

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer Год назад

      Having tried the WRC wheel recently too, I can see why the plastic adaptor might be a bit of a problem over time. I only used it for one specific rally while I was waiting for this BMW wheel to arrive in the post and it was great, problem free, but perhaps over a longer stint the plastic may wear/crack due to excessive use? What is your main concern? Either way, having a round wheel is a big advantage for these kind of cars 😁 especially in VR when you can't see where the handles of a Formula wheel are.

    • @ondrejkratochvil4589
      @ondrejkratochvil4589 Год назад

      @@DDFRacer The plastic mount is OK so far, the metal one is meant as future proofing. The plastic one has just one ball (out of five) to secure it onto the steering column - which imo will wear quicker, and also puts more stress on that one hole it fits into.

    I like the BMW GT2 wheel, but I'm going with a Podium Classic wheel combo. It's my entry point into building my own Podium Porsche wheel. I can't quite stomach paying $680 out right, but buying each part over time is palatable. I really like the GT2 wheel though. And you can swap out the magnetic paddles for the advanced paddles... Its a win in my book. Great grab!

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer Год назад +1

      Awesome stuff, the Podium Porsche wheel is a great option, although it is a bit pricier like you said. My old round wheel (rip Podium Hub adaptor) had the endurance button pack and the advanced paddle module too, I loved using it, and there's so much functionality there 👍 you could probably get away without needing a button box with all of he switches and dials you have on the wheel itself!

    To start with, is 5nm enough for this steering wheel or is it better to order an 8nm power supply?

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer 26 дней назад

      It depends on what you've been using previously 🤔 if you can afford it then I'd definitely recommend 8Nm though, that's what I've been using for a few years now and I love it. I don't feel the need for it to be any stronger but it's more than enough force to be able to give you all the smaller details too. With 5Nm you'll still have the same information coming through but it'll be harder to notice the really subtle stuff that helps you find the limit of grip more easily.
