Tim is a great guest. He can riff with the best of 'em. He's got David's schtick down pat. Also, love David's question at the end concerning what's happening in Gaza and big respect for Tim to not be afraid to call a spade a spade, when the common way for society to deal with that is to call him an anti-semite. Big respect.
I love uncomfortable conversations like this. Tim is great at spreading his genuine uncomfortableness, and it puts his counters on the same footing. His social anxiety and awkwardness takes center stage unintentionally and he holds that space really well. I don't know how he stays uncomfortable so well and still functions. It's like he creates that element to bring others into his space and uses it as a sword amd shield. David seems to do the same thing using the cultural information he has about the world to appear an intellectual (the hipster defense). Both of these men are great at exploiting their personal deficiencies while pointing them out, making fun of themselves and creating a vacuum where they hold power.
"I'm like Richard Dreyfus on Club Random." "I'm cosplaying being interviewed by David Letterman." "They got me on Baby Reindeer; I thought it was a prequel to Rudolph."☠🤣 All within a couple mins of being introduced. This ought to be great. Tim and David are absolute legends.
BIll Maher has no idea who Tim Heidecker is and he most likely has no clue Tim even did that parody. With how vocal he is, he would have said something. Maher also is very busy writing and hosting his show, doing his podcast, traveling and doing his weekly stand up gigs.
@@buhlake3391 Tim has a ton of similarities as Bob, so that likely played a role. I mean, David even called Tim a genius at the beginning of the pod. Obviously, he did it in a joking/sarcastic manner. Because that’s David Cross. But very few, if any, even get that “faux recognition” by David.

I think they made this work pretty well, there are some solid laughs in here. I feel for David that Will Arnett cancelled though. I would love to see him on the podcast.
This is going to sound either hell of pretentious or like I'm taking the piss, but sincerely: Tim Heidecker's comedic genius is verging on profundity often.
Albuquerque is both north of and higher elevation to LA.. You guys must be talking about some other metric like property value, down there in Albuquerque. I live in Rio Rancho NM, which is both north of and higher elevation relative to Albuquerque, and that's what we also mean when we say "down in Albuquerque"
I saw the clip with Neal. I don't think he has anything against Tim. He just talks that way sometimes. Like extra accent on a point to be clear. If you see a bunch of his stuff you'll him speak that way about random stuff. Like if there's a food he's never tried he might say "I've never had a bite of that in my life."
No one from Los Angeles (305 feet above sea level, at 34.07 degrees north latitude) can say that Albuquerque (5,312 feet above sea level, at 35.10 degrees north latitude) is "down there."
Remember when Heidecker and Brett Gelman _collaborated_ to cancel World Peace just because it was easier to claim that there was an internal issue at Adult Swim, then it was to acknowledge that Gilman isn’t funny and shouldn’t be working in media
Just saying it would have been cool, as a fan, to hear some BTS stories about their specific collaborations with each other, as they did some great things together. And considering everything *else* they discussed was about things that have happened "in the past", that's obviously not an issue for them, so - why would it be for you? It was a great conversation, just saying I would have loved to have heard about the stuff they did together, like the Bob & David sequences in Tim & Eric, etc., as I've never seen the two of them in this format before, that's all.
