@@Gniggaaa if only.. lol
Man solid axle swap is a boat load of work.
Lots of work and it looks great
Wicked! I wish I had documented my SAS, I bet this video will do really well!
I wish you had too!
Dirt Garage thanks bro!! Definitely a lot of work to film it especially for Jake when he was by himself.
@@OverlandNomad No problem! I bet it was. I originally did my SAS in my driveway with snow everywhere still, but got it done in a weekend because it was still my daily at the time 😂
Not so slow gang. From an old guy great build.
JAY Jeep thanks😎
Looks Bad Ass!! 3.0 Gang Gang (95 4runner)
Great use of time lapse! Love it.
Damm wish I had friends like these here in Cali lol. Good video and great work
Well done! So satisfying to watch all the IFS stuff being cut off... subscribed!
Thanks bro🤘🏼🤘🏼
Doing the same to my 90 4runner. Jist finished OM617 swap. Got the parts ready to go on the SAS and 5.29 locker front n rear. Got all the parts now just need to sell a Raider to make room.
Best episode yet!
Jonathan Sias thanks!!
Woooo. Ya boiii
lol i would love to have a big shop like that to just angle grind and cut like a madman and not really worry about the mess. impossible here in cali unless you know someone who owns a business with a warehouse or garage or you work in fabrication.
jake working alone at @7:18 got me sad ☹️
This video hasn't even been uploaded for more than an hour how is your comment 4 hours old?
pablo cabrera secret access before its released 🤫
pablo cabrera im the fkn lizard king
Jake the snake doin werk
*One or two shots might have not been in the perfect time order sorry lads
**The axle was cut and turned for the people noticing the angle of axle
Are you running double cardinal joints if so your angle is set at the top by the transfer case pointing the pumpkin towards it.
Awesome video 👍. My 90' 4Runner will get sas. Also plan to go with 4AGE turbo swap.
Nice bro!!
You dont just get SAS so it gives it that classic look. You get it for articulation, hauling, towing , also stronger than a IFS . It might not be as smooth over bumps but a good suspension set up it can be. I have a 1989 toyota pickup extra cab sr5. With 35s ,SAS, lockers F/R. But right now I'm trying to figure what swap I want to do the 3.4 or a 22RE, or the tdi but the tdi might be more work than I want to do.
If you ever end up doing the tdi swap and document it leave me a link please! I bought a bug for the swap but haven't started yet!
2.8 cummins
I'm about to do something similar I have a 82 short bed 4x4 that was rolled needs a cab I have a 79 and 81 long bed cabs that are good just different mounting points on front clip I'll have to change
@OverlandNomad gr8 channel! I had an idea for a video. Can you guys go through the engine bay and point out where important parts of the engine are? And maybe a how to advance your timing video? Thanks!
I help do these all the time, lots of work, I'm pretty sure your front spring hanger has to be set forward unless those springs are 1st Gen rears, or those came in a kit or something
We need to hook up. Have a few 3x 3g projects and 2x 2g bigger projects. Took my 99 across to Anahuac, NL to my tio’s a few times. On the way to the bridge it lost a relay, had to rig a wire for the fan and fill the radiator with tadpole water from a trough. Ended up turning around and going back to the house because didn’t want to breakdown on the highway or spend the night on the bridge because I was too late arriving. Hit me up when you leave the frontera and make it to San Anto, come check out my collection of not yet running projects.
Nice, but I see a bad camber position, you need cut the differential housing or axle, I don’t know exactly the name in English, in the tips, and welding again with the correct angle.. if you don’t fix this before to finish, you have a big problem in the steering wheel.. excellent proyect and good luck
The axle was already cut and turned. Sorry it wasn’t mentioned in the video
@@OverlandNomad better, I see you channel and you have good videos, I want to see the final for this hilux.. other questions, this level is like for 37" or 40" tire, you put a 5.29 gear? And the other, this front axle is for a land cruiser?
Yes it’s regeared to 5.29 front and rear and I’m running 35s. I’m happy how it has performed with that combo for years especially on the highway. The axle must have been off from a 1983 Toyota Pickup.
OverlandNomad mmm ok, the same for the 4Runner first generation... cool bro, if you can, make a video, when you finish, how long does it accelerate from 0-60mph with the tires and the gear ratio you have, which I already know you have 5.29, but it will help you to have more views ;)
Do you need to change the oil pan on the 3.0 to do a SAS?
Looks like the cutting off the ifs took longest and everything else seemed to go easy...
I need to know if when you welded the crossbar with the front springhangers on did you remove the 45 degree gussets that are rivetted to the chassis and stops the new bar fitting on. Thanks Wayne
Wonder how much Labor costed alone? Awesome work
👌
Me soon
May i suggest your boy Jake wear ear protection.
Have u ever thought of swapping to a 22Re?
Nathanial The king rather swap to 3.4
3.4 swap is definitely worth it. I just need an SAS now
I seen a few flaws with that engine are they as reliable as the 22R’s?
@@nathanialtheking9490 yes very reliable and more power
whatcar was the diff out of that you used or did you use the original diff
How long did it take you to do this?
Are there any more vids that would help
Hi!
I own a 1987 LN65 with only 9600 Miles.
The Firetruck has been on standby in a small Austrian Firedepartment in a village close to Vienna. Perfectly maintained, no rust at all. Double Cab, Diesel, Power steering, 5gear manual, 100% original.,
Who would know for how much I could sell it?
Regards
Franz
Why not just chassis swap the cab onto a solid axil chassis ?, would have to be cheaper, quicker and easier.
Can Jake sas my 2004 doublecab taco but want a coilover setup?
What did you do for steering?
Really wish you guys did a better job with the camera view.
Did you guys swap the oil pan to clear the hi-steer?
Wish I knew what the holes were that you cut. Also how the steering bolted up. Oh an what about the leaf mounts on the axle no clue what you were doing there. Very poor video if you were trying to teach people how to do a sas.
