"We should not talk and listen to this forever" - Agree :D
The second I heard that guitar, I instantly recognized it. VOLUME MASSIMO is one of my most favorite albums!
Alessandro Cortini is so enthusiastic. I don't know him well, but this interview was so entertaining to watch. And Nick had some problems to squeeze his questions inbetween and get an answer. But that was fun watching, too. Thankyou.
Lol yeah I enjoyed that awkwardness too
Nick... straight for the PWM 🤩
His expression when he said it.... hahaha. Dude knew it was coming.
with a smile hahahaha
I am so looking forward to PWM in a Waveshaper...down a rabbit hole
This is one for all the droners out there. Very excited what different people will squeeze out of this box.
You're absolutely right!
Seems almost like something SOMA would come up with. Totally bonkers.
I was thinking the same! The delay reminds me a lot of the lyra
@@nipple_93 I had the same thought too! Makes me want to head down to my studio and play with my Lyra8
thats because this strega is a lyra8fx with a filter and a vco. Pretty sure it uses the same chip too
@@VladyYakovenko well that makes a lot of sense!
now we need a stand for the 0coast 0ctrl strega or a big desktop synth that unites the 3 ^^
Sth like that Waldorf kb37 but in black-gold & weeeered :-)
www.amazona.de/test-waldorf-kb37-keyboard-fuer-eurorack-module/
Yes, à la Volca!
like a 3-volca stand, would be sweet
This is what I am snagging for my triple stand, you can probably make one just like this.
Check out BDcomusicsupply on Etsy. It won’t allow me to post the link, but they have a triple stand for the 0-Coast/Ctrl/Strega
@@AbyssalReverberations awesome!
Off topic: this is the first time I've seen the studio with the curtains open and I realized I've always imagined it being in a basement. Seeing natural light come in feels weird, but it's nice to know Nick isn't stuck underground all day ☺️
I love how divisive this is. Makes it easier to purchase on day one!
I’m waiting for my now.
Hearing Alessandro break down the connection he has with machines is as important as this release...
Very refreshing to watch a video like this with someone who has a sense for vibe and taste.
Almost like MakeNoise is channeling a bit of the Lyra-8 sound design in this new creation.
They may have finally built the machine I always wanted.
Sounds gritty and organic and magical. Love it
Wow what a great instrument and I love how it tapped Alessandro’s mind and creativity to create it. A great example of creative talents working together towards something unique.
at 14:30...."We should just not talk and listen to this forever." I feel you brother This machine is something I now need.
Sounds like a really good pressure washer...
I love how enchanted in he got everytime he touched the instrument. You can tell he really put his aesthetic in the machine. Pretty inspiring!
Yup, sounds like Alessandro Cortini. Rad.
was thinking the same hahaha
It’s like a Bastl Thyme inside a Make Noise Module by Allesando. SOLD
Thank you for using a direct recording :) You are awesome.
Distortion, it's not a bug, it's a feature....
When I was a younger man, I did everything possible, to get a clean undistorted signal from my audio/music making gear.
Fast forward a few years, and I'm wanting to pay for a gadget, that will dirty it up a bit. LOL
But.....then I want a perfect signal path after that, to preserve the nuances of the distortion :-)
One of the things I learned in my life is, I have more fun, keeping an open mind, than being a strict purist.
This is so rad, big fan of both Alessandro Cortini and Make Noise, love the fact that they tried to make it a real tactile instrument! Wish it was purple though!
when he finally showed the audio in capability I has utterly delighted. I was beginning to think that signal path would be self contained.
It sounds like a DPO, some woggle and the Echophon. A mini Shared System. Or a MakeNoise Benjolin.
Yeah I find it really interesting sonically! Like Sam said, I'm excited to see what you'll do with it!
Yes. Spot-on assessment.
@@sample7215 Me too! But it probably will take some time to get across the atlantic. In the meantime, the Shared System will keep me busy!
I love him. Very excited for this.
Very nice! Can't wait to hear what he does with this.
I will sell my collection of Volcas for this amazing sounding machine! I love it! The wobble and noises from that delay.... wow! Thank you 🙏🏻
Alessandro is such a talented guy. I had the pleasure of experience him live in Copenhagen a few years ago.
Didn’t know he was inspired by Wham! Who is prominently displayed on his shelf 😁
Flying out to store shelves (dare I say, on a broomstick) in Feb.
...wel..as part of the market, just gonna say, already preordered and paid for. Can't wait to play with it.
it would certainly please me Alessandro! :-) way too short this video.. but bloody wonderful !
It sounds amazing. I hope Make Noise will do bigger instruments in the future. The Eurorack format is ok for modules, but I'm pretty sure great instruments like this one would be greater if larger.
I'm sure there is a market for larger versions but personally the size of the o-coast is one of the things I like the most about it.
@@Getthenderson I totally understand, I like the fact that my Make Noise system packs up so many sonic possibilities in a portable case. But sometimes I dream of a bigger standalone instrument that could offer a greater physical dialogue and I see mainly small desktop synthesizers that require finger precision.
Really that’s what the make noise shared system is, I have a few of their euro modules and there really is a shared aesthetic and thought process to them.
5:51 Thank you for shouting out Songs Of Faith And Devotion... That's what I was thinking too!
I managed to secure one, psyched!!
I love how Alessandro’s doesn’t even have to sell this thing, he just has to say “I mean, come on.”
Fuck... I'm sold... and bankrupt soon! This thing produces some serious drones and textures. Brilliant!
and two of my favourite synth guys in the video..!
FYI Cortini misspoke. Strega Line and Headphone Output is TRS Stereo Audio Signal, 3Vpp; not mono.
Here I was using 0 coast with my little ole DOD rubber neck 🐔... but this thing is on another level!
This will compliment the 0- devices beautifully!! Needs a rack though.
Cool synth. Great video. Thanks team
Wow its stand by his name “ Strega “ in Italian means “Witch “ and I’m now being bewitched by it ;)
Gotta love Nicks PWM comment. I did giggle!
Awesome interview/demo, looks and sounds very interesting!
So if I have the full set of 0-coast form-factor, I'm going to need three wall warts to power them. Has Make Noise thought about releasing a unified power source for them. Realizing this is bringing us closer to eurorack power distribution...
Or maybe have an alternate eurorack port if you pull the module out of its case and just make them all Eurorack compatible?
Security camera power supply and some creative wiring can solve your issue. Make sure that your power supply is rated over 3 times your standard wall wart amperage :) If your keen on diy that is :D
Look up myvolts ripcord. It’s a usb cable for the O-coast that can power it up using a power bank.
Seeing this with an oscilloscope on screen would have been amazing. The waveform manipulation sounds sick!
Yep, that'll piss off the neighbour's
8:21 nicks expression of joy. 😜
This is totally bonkers! I have been looking a machine which can do multiple subtle crazy stuff or crank it and get 115% out of it 😎 nice for adding textures and layers for boring sounds
woo, the sequence with the effects at 03:15 reminded me a lot of the ending synth part of Ian Willaim Craig's song 'Contain' ( /watch?v=JYXfh1mBbsI )
is it just me ?
thank you for showing me this song, it touched my soul
Yeah, sold!
Alessandro is a delight.
I'll take 'Hainbach gets a first-run edition of this' for $500, Alex.
probably 2
I mean it is in good hands then for sure.
Well, I watched for all of it and I still know very little other than it has one oscillator, a delay, a filter, some noise and uncertainty and you can patch with your fingers. Don't know if those pads are on/off or progressive capacitative, don't know what the jacks do, don't know what the waveshaping does. Some of the noises are very interesting but could I use them for my music? Probably not. I'm happy with the 0-Coast.
This thing sounds rad. It's an interesting noise box.
i need a raise.
Am sure Hainbach will love it!
Color me intrigued. Love the 0-coast and 0-ctrl. Not 100% sold on this, but it definitely seems interesting. Looking forward to more demos!
i could sit for hours listening to him
Wow wow WOW stoked about this
Wow, outrageously amazing!
So besides expansive lofi drones, what else can it do...? Looking forward to a more detailed overview, not quite sold just yet.
This is like a Korg Monotron Delay with super powers.
This guy is dope. Just wants to play around instead of explain. Punk rock.I still have little to no understanding what this thing is. I'm sure I'll find out soon, which is ok.
The Dark Art is strong in this one ! :-O Im not even sure what im suppose to feel - its REALLY strange... reminds me of , or at least in the vicinity og Vlad´s Black Arts ,- I wish them luck....
Gotta Get me one of these bad boys
Sounds excellent!!
14.34: 'We should just not talk and listen to this forever...' Haha! It's a challenge for sure, but the sounds are so interesting. Quite excited for this.
i dont think Nick is fully appreciating the work that is being done here! he needs to go to the next NIN show :)
Pocket size noise goodness.
A Cortinish unit indeed! Congratulations to both MN and AC! (Loved the DM reference BTW)
On my list ... with use for Expansive Sound Experiments ⚡️👻⚡️
This thing sounds lush
everything under water. 30 years.
couldn't be noisier!
This and the Way Huge Atreides .... hello and good night.
Excellent interview. Cortini is so engaged with the process. If only Make Noise could shake the need for these hipper-than-thou faceplates. And for something with touch plates, it would be much better to have the sockets off on one side, out of the way of hands. Where have all the real designers gone?
Very cool to see both of these men in a video together. Interesting project this Strega.
Hopefully you saw when Nick toured his studio?
@@stephenmandelbaum2027 thnx for reminding! I'm not sure, but will look it up for sure!
I'll take 2 😍
I first thought all the praise comments were from MN fanboys. Heard the entire interview, and I’m now a MN fanboy. This box does sound fantastic.
Sounds fantastic. Its a pity about the silly hipster company name though.
Bought
and tascam 414 mk2 chords with the 4 tracks ;)
In Portugal , Ale could work with Casper Clausen
I already know that it'll sell like bread
Love for "to me is like the equivalent of leaving something underwater for 30 years and then fishing it out again"
:-D
beautiful instrument, and interesting interface!
I need this.......... AAAAaaaa!
Holy fucking shit!!
Could see how this is not for everyone but I like it. I would probably use it as a lofi ambient thingie. Definitely think the Strega and subharmonicon would complement each other so I’m sold.
Nice guitar there against wall :)
Thats called "garbage mode" when the delay dips down into pure garbled crunchiness :D :D
So exciting this thing :D
If its a karaoke delay - its probably PT2399 based :D
It really resembles Alessandro’s style. Complex timbres galore. Love it!
WOW!
Drone dream machine
It's a nice effect, but why is it has to be all lush and reverby all the time? can it do also other tricks?
nope
9:54 sounded like my Fiat 128 right before it caught fire in Laurel Canyon rush hour traffic.
I want this.
at 22:18 Alessandro is possessed by the mad spirit of Gaz Williams.
BTW, i cannot wait to try this instrument and i hope for a SonicTalk special with Alessandro in the near future
"It's a Karaoke machine delay." Okay... so it's a PT Delay?
Yep
@@sushimandaddi Figured
Ahhh, thx for the detail. Incidentally the Koma Elektronik Field Kit FX uses a PT2399 Delay chip.
What webcams are Gaz and Nick using these days, the audio and content has always been strong by the visuals really stepped up recently
Sony Alpha 6000. And a Sigma wide angle
Damn it, Make Noise, will you PLEASE make rackable versions of these. I've been wanting to build a system around the 0-Coast for years, with an MPE-style MIDI to CV interface for use with an expressive controller; but I'm not interested in hacking the power supplies or toting around separate desktop units. It just seems such an obvious move for this form factor. I love this thing, and its predecessors, but it's useless to me in this format. Cheers!
they broke out the unique circuits of the 0-coast in to modules (contour and dynamix)
@@blaythessteuer Ya, I've thought about doing it that way. Bit of a rabbit hole that. I'd still prefer to just drop, say, a 0-Coast and this new unit in a rack with an FH-2 and be done with it. ;) Cheers!
don't ever interrupt a noise artist. they need the longest to build up captivation
Curious to see what one can do with all three!
You can make a lot off noise and make all hell brake loose 😬
