Ooooooohhhh man you just brought back a memory. I had a Kershaw D2 camp knife (the 10" with the deep belly) that had an open back kydex sheath. My buddy from England was visiting and ogling all of my "yank goodies" when he grabbed the D2. As he was looking at it ( I had my back to him) I was telling him to be careful how he put it back in the sheath. He had placed it in backwards, and it got stuck. So he wrapped his hand around the sheath and yanked. It left his tumb dangling by a thread of skin. Thankfully the cut was so clean ( I keep my tools sharp) the surgeons had it back on in 6 hours, and he made a full recovery. Man! My body twitched remembering that one....

Yea, its not something you really think about, knives stuck in their sheaths. But once you are aware, it makes sence how it is a danger.

I hate needing a knife to get to my knife. It is like needing a flashlight to find a flashlight.

What knife did you use for the unboxing ?

@@GTA_500 alrighty, so it is a Kanetsune damascus from japan. I went on the kanetsune site to try to find it and it looks like they may not make these styles anymore, however you can find them on blade hq and other good sites like that. I bought that knife like 15 years ago.

That blade is a nice ornament but as a working blade, it is utter garbage!I have had a couple of knives from KH and have thrown them both out into the trash. They are all Mercedes 5160 truck springs and any of you out there who understand steel chemistry and HRC sweet spots and how it can make/break a knife will know that 57-58 HRC, will give 5160 a decent edge retention and excellent toughness.
Unfortunately for you, none of the unskilled worker forces at KH have even the faintest idea of what all that means and you end up with a dog shit heat treat that puts you into the mid-60s + HRC so all their blades will chip out on you. And sharpening 5160 when the heat treatment is done by peasants who can not even spell "Rockwell scale" is not going to end well for you either. Good luck with that ...Hang it on the wall and look at it but DO NOT TAKE IT INTO THE WOODS HOPING IT WILL BE AN AXE AND A KNIFE ... Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but as they say "do not shoot the messenger bro" ...

You're the first person that I've seen say ANYTHING negative about KH.
I've seen videos from multiple knife reviewers claiming that commenters requested that they check-out KH. When they did, it was like they found kukri Jesus.
It's kinda freaky and cultish. I wondered how coukd there be zero negative opinions.
Just curious, did you contact KH's customer service regarding your experience? How'd that go?
