    I have a KHHI kukri, and found that the knife is very sturdy, and shiny, although there's still tons of streaks underneath the polish that should have been worked out with belts, but they use brush wheels. Strong and pretty is where it ends though. The steel is not tempered. Maybe 45rc. Which may be fine to prevent breakage, but it dulls quickly, and rusts unless its totally soaked in oil. Take it out in the woods in the sheath and it will come back with rust and tarnish. Jungle? I don't see how these blades survive the jungle without being covered in rust. The steels come from scrapyards where they were truck and car axles and leaf springs. And the fact that they simply heat it, hammer it, and then quench it once without annealing them, well, they cant ,theyre too poor in nepal. I would love a stainless version but they just don't come out of nepal. Keep it coated in rustfree in side cereal box cardboard. Enjoy!

      Check this out, I get a pure organic block of bees wax and rub it on all my blades that will rust. I like it more then oil because you dont want oil on food if u food prep with it. Idk what stainless you wpuld choose, but I would love Tops to make one of these. I like how they do their 1095 heat treats.

      Why not just paint the blade ,flat gray or black? Then use one of those V shaped sharpeners to clear the paint off the cutting edge.

    How is the steel on these?

    • @rubiconoutdoors3492
      @rubiconoutdoors3492  Год назад +3

      Very tough steel. They are using spring steel from car leafsprings. My friends Khukuri we bought from them for 60$. We beat the fkn sh*t out of it, cut legit 8 inch trees down, sharpened it on a belt sander , and its still going strong. Thats why i had no reservations buting the Dbad.
