I hope you take this as constructive criticism. I really like this build but your guide is a bit lacking. The first major problem is that you don't take time to properly explain your gem setup. I was using this build wrong for 90 levels until i sat down and analyzed everything myself. Show the linked gems on screen and explain why you use them and where you assign them (hotkeys). The next problem is that you don't explain what modifiers are important on each individual piece of gear.

@@yamchadragonball6983 Kinda same, I leaguestarted with it and didn't know where to take it without the updates. I even thought of Legacy of Fury, but in the past I've only shot myself in the foot by tinkering with builds I didn't create myself. Some sort of this final form PoB would've been great, even if it was worse that what we have here. I get it's a leaguestarter that you won't push as much as other builds, but the time between T16 and the update video with LoF was pretty rough on my end.
This is of course also very much on me, just as more feedback how this guide could be even better. Though I think if the build doesn't get nerfed next league it will be a very solid leaguestarter.
@@yamchadragonball6983 well to be fair, this is an update to an update for this league starter, hes got about 3-4 videos before this one that are Extremely in depth. Way more info than you get from most league start guides.
@@ANameIDontKnow as jayson says above, there is a LOT of very in depth content that i've made for this build and i reference it and link to it in the build guide for this league. the original video is nearly an hour long and says everything i can say about the fundamentals.
id rather link to those previous videos instead of rehashing the exact same stuff every league. ill try to emphasize even more next league that you should _really_ watch them to understand everything.
@@subtractem Ah, very fair. The way I understood it was to only watch those if you care about all the little details, while I only wanted an aspirational Endgame set to compare to. Maybe I'll watch it, but I think even just the first few videos this league helped a ton and I doubt I'd have these problems again next league. And of course when rushing to endgame during the first few days I''m most desperate to minmax my upgrades. And watching your stream wasn't an option due to timezones.

For those of you who are using this build as a template and not following it to the letter, you can reduce your buttons by working in arcanist brand linked to flame surge and elemental weakness. This also greatly increases the uptime of flame surge.
Having a lot of fun with this build! I've mostly just played melee or minions so far, first time with a caster-type. Taking my time with everything; poked at the first few yellow maps yesterday, it's a fun ride! I just went to trade right away after you talked about Legacy of Fury and grabbed a near-perfect one for 8c. That price took a crazy dive.
Love this build! Currently level 92. The travel skill cooldown watcher’s eye is key! I also crafted my one handed weapon on an infernal blade base for another 40% cooldown recovery. Shield charge + FB makes this build zoom to the moon! So much fun. Thank you for the great ideas and scaling for this build!
I found that using the nem unique sceptre Dark Seer is actually a cool idea. You get lots of life and es and also the blind. Gives tons of surviability for uber bosses and T17. If you swap it to your pob you're not really loosing damage (only loosing a bit of crit) but you get tons of defence for a realatively cheap price. I bought mine for 2 divs. So compare to your expensive necropolis craft than can fail, that is a really great choice.
Alternatively what you can buy is the new perandus pact jewel with fire damage increase. On my setup I am hitting 15 notables, so it gives me +90% inc fire damage. It is more damage than any 20divs+ jewels on the market and the perandus pact jewel cost me 2 divs as well. If I swap it on your build, you're not loosing that much dps either. It's the same. Yes you could argue that you're loosing the ignite faster but for a cheap alternative I find it to be really strong.
If you ever update your build for next league, I think you could present those options for all the people that want to invest more in the build. Stuff like presenting leagacy of fury like you did in this video is great. In general if you give us more ways to play around with the build then we will go from having a great time with this build to an awesome experience!

I would love to see these build updates added in as layers of progression into 1 POB. I tried building along with you for start of the league, and I kept getting a bit lost with some of the changes you made (biggest one that comes to mind is that the first time I saw anything about you focusing evasion/grace was in this vid. I was under the impression you were still focusing STR/DEX gear for adding armor focus. Maybe I missed it when you started focusing suppression tho, or notes somewhere). It was also confusing since there's different POBs depending on if you click the most recent vid, the maxroll guide, or the old guides from previous leagues that you reference/link back to.
Definitely enjoying the build, and appreciate all you've put out relating to it, hoping to see more! Thanks!

What an awesome result! The funny thing about this build is the eventual run back because an item dropped, since we frostblink forwards and cool exiles don't look at explosions. I'll definitely try it out later!
Thats the reason after trying a Flicker build i never played that again because i cleared the map so fast i had to run back and collect all the items 😂

Hey first trying this build in necro league and loving the speed at mapping it has to offer! Not sure if you have mentioned this elsewhere but I've been doing the Sinvict'as Mettle 2nd inventory weapon swap at start of the map to build up all that SWEET JUICY RAMPAGE!!
Was a fun league start for me. Still no lightning coil in SSF, so red maps are pretty dicey, but i like the pacing of the frost blink, and the damage ignite offers. More trap speed would be nice to make single target/tough target packs less finnicky. Playing archmage for now, but i hope to continue back to it and see if i can find some key pieces im needing.

6:23 Are you not undervaluing regular fire trap here?, since the added damage for it is also affected by the 260% effectiveness, even if it is a smaller amount than for the transfigured gem.

Man those T17 maps are brutal. You really have to either spam chaos for easy mods like you did, or sprint to the boss.

Started with this build, have been enjoying it and recommending it to everyone ive played with. I thought deadly ailments reduces the intial hit of the trap and you would want the highest flat damage you could get to scale higher ignite damage. Poe math hurts my brain 😂

Hey man, great content! I’m a casual dad noob. Been playing POE for about a year. I was following your Maxroll build guide pretty much to a T - and then I saw this video. I went ahead and just got all the sockets for this final form, maybe prematurely? My dam is pretty good, but I’m afraid I might’ve bricked the build by not doing all the milestones and skipping to final form.
After all that my question:
Would you recommend I go back to where I left off and finish the build into end of league start and then transition to final form? Or should I keep my gem set up now and just slowly adopt as I build currency? For the record my Lightning coil is socketed for final and I think it would be a nightmare to recolor.

hey subtractem you made me play poe for the first time. I'm slowly learning bit by bit but can you help me explain, You still have melavolance but do you use it on your bar? Because when you are playing you are not really pressing it..? is it lack of buttons on the bar? ty :)
So you no longer cast malevolance? I got no space on my setup if I use flame surge and infernal cry at the same time.
One last doubt with the build, what would be a god tier ring for the non profane slot?

they would but they provide so little else for the build that I think it's not really worth considering over legacy or fury or double damage eldritch implicits.

One thing you forgot to mention that will completely make this whole result vary between people is that Fire Trap of Blasting signifficantly has more dps with higher gem levels. I think the break point where it becomes worth it over normal fire trap is after + 5 so a lvl 25+ fire trap of blasting will always win. Anything less than lvl 25 you are just gimping your damage.
Wait a minute, so does that mean that RF builds should be using fire trap of blasting since they're already burning enemies just by being near them?
This build looks really fun! Im curious how well it scales into T17s and uber bosses. Does it handle those well?
It can do them yeah. Bossing is easy, t17 mapping very much depends on the mods though.

that watchers eye would solve my issue with the build, the times when i use frostblink and the mobs i planned on hitting either moved away or died/killed by prolif and frostblink is now on cd and im losing damage until i can use it again.
was able to buy a watchers eye with malevolence dot multi and cooldown for movement skills for 7,5 div just now.

@@subtractem can't get it to fit, already so squishy i can't drop any auras to fit haste. never struggled this much before, but it's a constant death spiral, maybe its the league mods, not sure, but lvl 94 to 95 is taking longer than 99 to 100 normally does. I completed all the voidstones, invites and the entire atlas. The struggle is trying to farm up some currency for a new build since maps are so rippy. I have no idea what build to play next, though.

Not playing this build at all but I am annoyed someone else figured out the Fire Trap of blasting tech since I ran that all last league and people just didn't know how absurd it was.
if i swap to fire trap of blasting i get almost exact the same dps.. but i have to use flame surge.. guess im not thtat far to swap it out.. only 4mil dps

you can if that's your preference but it's otherwise a pretty weak ring for the build. with legacy of fury it's really not necessary anyway.

you need a very specific number by searching with the timeless jewel tool, you can't just buy a random one.
I'm new to the game am I am trying to figure out how you are able to reserve tempest shield, vitality, skitterbots, and haste without mana reservation efficiency with Charisma. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? I can't figure it out!

@@r4g3r4bb1tInstant heal is very helpful for the ignite flask, and I still have a second life that removes a second debuff (bleed) with a chunky number. If you roll a flask with only a prefix and one that you like (keep spamming alterations), you can craft the suffix with Einhar (my bestie).

You can double corrupt a bronnes and go all out for frostblink yeah. Going to be struggling for physical damage mitigation however. Definitely a fun zoomy setup but less well rounded.
@@subtractem that’s probably what I will do, I league started as explosive arrow champion and then I had a mageblood drop lol so I’m going to probably use my champion for boss killing and have this frost blink with a level 30 gem zipping around maps zoom zoom.

how are you getting your mana reservation handled. I'm having a hard time with being able to use malevolence with the 4 other auras.
You link Malevolence to Divine Blessing. That makes it an active skill that makes the buff last for 10sec instead of an aura which reserves mana.

to get gems to 20% quality do you have to use 20 gcps now? i thought you use to be able to sell 1 gem and a gcp and it gets 20 quality.
you can now only use the recipe for support gems, skill gems you have to use gcps or buy them with quality already yes
Can anyone tell how malevolence is being triggered? Its not on his active bar and from what I can see only Steelskin is automated, and theres no room for a 2nd automation gem.
EDIT : nvm its not automated it just seemed like it was but he remapped it from Ctrl+Q to R. Its a bit busy ngl, but at least its just for bossing. Mapping is literally 1 button so it evens out.

I am (relatively) new player, so far with 4 leagues under my belt. I started with boneshatter jugg(3.21), ID pathfinder(3.22), CF champ (3.23) and this one. Even thou the play is fun and different which is obviously great, oh man it sux. It is by FAR the worst, shittest league start ive experienced. The char is basically melee but with elementalist "tankiness". It maybe the league mechanic, essence changes or whatever the shit, but im not having good time :)
Share your pob and I can look at it. The build has sufficient defense once you put the build together.

It makes negative res go more negative. This is explained in detail in the build guide(s). This video is just a follow up.
hey @subtractem, just a tip, maybe you can re-run the numbers and see if it's worth it:
If you don't run increased duration or vitality, you can automate ele weakness with blasphemy support and you still have a free slot for burning damage support to boost flame surge's burning ground. Wouldn't that work? Should maximize DPS even further, but not sure if it's reliable with Haste instead of Grace if you drop vitality..
PS: so automation is there merely to reduce cooldown of steelskin correct? as elemental weakness is not supported so you still have to cast it ..
PPS: after reading comments about Arcanist brand, this removes the need for Blasphemy so we can actually automate flame surge and ele weakness and then have the choice to either add Vitality or burning damage to boost flame surge... and with vitality the switch to haste becomes more reliable.. would love to see a video comparing the damage and tankyness of these alterantives :P
Too many PSes already.. my PPS above actually opens a lot of possibilities as there's room for one extra aura if we don't care for Vitality which in turn allows for more really good buffs in the Watcher's eye jewel.. just 2 examples but there's are plenty:
- Damage Penetrates 10% Fire Resistance while affected by Anger ... and Anger would boost dps quite nicely)
- +33% to Chaos Resistance while affected by Purity of Elements ... and Purity of elements would free up some ele resist mod elsewhere + one chaos resist mod and make you immune to all elemental ailments... You could for example stack attributes in places you couldn't before and maybe find a better Lethal pride (or other unique gems) that don't provide Strength but something else instead... One example would be if there's a unique gem providing mana reservation efficiency, which can potentially allow a 6th aura.. *mind blown*
So many possibilities..

Why not update your maxroll frostblink guide with mid-game/endgame info, and in general improve on it?
My friend chose to follow that guide as his very first PoE build, and he had to reroll at maps because a lot of things were not explained.
The maxroll interface might be a little confusing but it will take you until you are comfortably farming t16s maps. Make sure you click the progression tab and follow it all the way.
I will likely be updating the guide to go a little further for people that want to farm Ubers but the current guide, if followed properly, will have you very comfortable in t16 maps

Still the PoB in this video has like 8 times more damage than the maxroll pob, so I hope you will add more progression points for Uber stuff into the original one for next league. I like to play 1 build all the way from league start to ubers usually

Feels pretty bad to follow the guide and ending up with a worse version. Used a full evasion base for the glove and can't change into 6-link fire trap now.
Why not? Losing a little es isn't the best but it's fine
It is extremely cheap and easy to get 4 off colours on gloves. Craft on your bench to force 2 sockets, then force 2 of whatever colour you need (or 3!) then simply force 4 sockets and if it doesn’t hit the colour you need, back to three sockets and try again. Repeat that til you get 4 off colours and it only costs jewelers orbs :)

You know what really pisses me off again as it does in every league?
Things like "This is only 10 divine!" "Really easy to farm!" (not telling that no, it's not easy if you can't affort the gear.)
And no, it's not specifically you. It's just very generalized "the Path of Exile youtubesphere". I have 1000 hours into this silly game and every league again, after a week or two I sit here and barely if at all can -touch- red maps. And then die in them.
Some of you guys have to, how does the youth call it? Touch some grass.
And this is the best league I played in. Because for once I can craft gear that has not only one or two but sometimes three things on tier 3.
Still, I die. Because I have no idea what to upgrade or in which direction. So if you need video ideas, here it is. First trying (somehow) to get +1 on gem tiers, or defences? I am leaning to get just more damage because the longer I need to bonk someone in the head the more time they have to just straight out murder me :')
No idea why I would go eldritch battery with this build either. With out my shield I am just even deader than dead. deadiest. The most of deadiest.
I may sound a tiny bit frustrated.
First i would say look at your defence, especially resistance. Fire,cold,lightning(donr care abkit chaos now) everything should be at 75% ( more in ( ) is good). Usually thats the first problem. Follow a leveling guide dont try to put things together yourself at first. PoE is nothing like any other game. Good luck ❤
Leveling gear are super cheap like alchemy orbs level of cheap.
Grind for gear, if you can't get gear, grind for currency. If you're dying, get life and resistances. If you're staying in too long, get more fire damage. This build is easy to understand, because you're just maxing ignite in every direction, and you can keep rearranging to see which of the many fire damages work better. Everything is just time; if you can't get 10 divines fast, you can get 10 divines slow. If you can't craft gear, you can trade for it.
Why are you going off on this random leaguestart that he's managed to drag kicking and screaming into pinnacles? You're just missing something, and people are always available to help. POE Ninja, discord, etc. Get good jewels?

Hit damage generally doesn't matter when it's a dot focused build.
@@subtractem I think it does, because for example, before a boss appears, such as an elder guardian, you can throw a lot of traps at him and they will do much more damage if you use efficacy.
Sure, you can pre charge a handful of traps and get a few million more damage on the monster but at the cost of roughly 5 million ignite DPS.
This means basically any gains that you get front loading the on hit damage are lost on just one second of damage over time. Deadly ailments is better for this build.

Do you mean that by throwing many traps at once, your opponent won't have time to catch fire? That it takes time for the arson to take effect?
