It is obvious how you attack the wood that even in the beginning you can see your end product and all you have to do is get all that unneeded wood out of the way. I look at a block of wood and all I see is a block of wood. People who can see the END at the beginning have no idea how hard it is for those of us not gifted with that talent. We all appreciate carvers like you and Doug and Kevin, who give us a map to follow from beginning to end. Thanks for your time.
Thankyou for sharing all of these realistic faces, def my favorite topic in any medium. I hope someday I am able to do a realistic face in wood (especially women's faces, mine always look like men )
Hi Alec, I am new to this hobby but i am so interested with how you and Doug are doing these cotton wood carvings. I would like to know if you would be willing to share with me what tools a beginner should start with to use to create the wood spirit faces. Any information would help, and as always thank you for the very well instructed videos.
Another video that is both interesting and helpful. Not to mention a carving beautifully done. Thanks!
Thanks so much Jerry! No problem!

You make it look so easy! The forest service here locally has a warrant out for my arrest...evidently I need more practice
Thanks Jim!
