I knew it was getting bad when he asked his band, Blur, if they could play Gorillaz live. He's missed the point he made! The "reject false idols" thing has been completely thrown out the window! This newest album is most of what Damon tried to actively avoid before, as it has few tracks on it that age well. It's all so current. It's not even current in the "Dirty Harry" way. It's just so fucking pandering. But what should Albarn care? He's making money. That's all that matters to him, I guess. He's turned Gorillaz into a sheet that covers the fact that Gorillaz songs are now more along the lines of "______ Feat. Damon Albarn" rather than the guests being, you know, GUESTS. Gorillaz is just a word now. It can be whatever genre it wants, and though in previous practice it's good, now it's an excuse to have artists absolutely DOMINATE a track, and still have it be called Gorillaz. It isn't a band anymore, even though they're together again. There was at least some semblance of them being a band in Demon Days. There was at least guitar there. And bass. And drums. It was still alive. Plastic beach killed the band feel, but at least there was a lore reason for that, I guess. Here? No. It's Damon Albarn collaborating with whoever. It isn't 2D. It's Damon. He's made this band another Blur to him, and destroyed any feeling of them existing apart from music videos.

The story line is still there, 2D I'm sure would collab with all these artists I mean he along with the rest of the cartoon band are a reflections of Damon and Jamie and what they envisioned so who are we to think we know what 2D would truly do? Also, who cares if Damon wants to add what he likes to their sound and have less of him and more of these wonderful singers and rap artists? It's his creation, his music, his band. The new album is a celebration of life and people through this oncoming shitstorm that the world is plummeting into. A playlist for the end of the world. Maybe that was the reason for so many artist collaborations? Maybe you need to not worry so much about what he does with his band? The Gorillaz still has a lot of meaning to me in my life, if it no longer means what it used to to you, then thats your deal friend, complaining about it won't really change the fact that this is what they are.
It's rare for a remix to still hold on to the true essence of the original song, while attempting to improve it with it's own twist. Too many remixes are remakes and completely overhaul the song. This one takes all the good from the original song and adds its own flavour. Good work! Best remix I've heard in a while.
