Gorillaz NEEDS to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, their contribution to music is just outstanding. Not and overstatement by any means, when the time arrives, they need to be there, I truly believe they already reached that level some time ago.Blending so many genres and constantly churning out fresh material speaks volumes.I wish them their best through this journey called life, and I am happy we all get so share it in the present, even if for me just means connecting to the music they release.
i agree. another non-overexaggerated statement, they are the only band to do what they have done. Like you said, the very best word to describe them is outstanding. No one can replicate their sound because they are always evolving, mixing genres, etc. idk whether or not they are in the rock and roll hall of fame, but they definitely belong there and I mean that. not even just from a fan point of view, also from an objective one.
Once they reach the eligibility requirement of 25 years after their first record release (2025), then perhaps they could. Unless, of course, they get bogged down by Hall politics (or the whim of people like Jann Wenner): the Moody Blues didn't get in until 2018 despite being eligible since 1980.

Just weird... Because before Murdoc was like the head of the band with 2D, but now no one cares about him, including Noodle and Russel, especially after Murdoc went to jail and 2D moved on and made "Humility" by him self. Hints his eyes going from Black to White. 2D is a changed man now.... I mean lets be honest... the songs they've been making have been sounding waaaayyy better without Murdoc. It's been a long time coming but 2D has hit his characters prime "character development" since this all started 20 years ago. Such a weird story!
Critical-RAGE, I agree. The band seems so much happier without Murdoc. Like, let’s compare Desole with Momentary bliss. Momentary bliss is a heart racing pumping song whereas Desole is more calm and kinda chill (which I guess many people like). Murdoc was is Momentary bliss and he wasn’t really involved in Desole reflecting the two different sides of the song. Murdoc is kinda like the minor and 2D is the major. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I never thought I’d see Murdoc crying on a couch, I guess this means that Murdoc feels like he isn’t needed anymore, feels like he doesn’t have a purpose for the band now that everyone has moved on, and maybe he feels bad for how he treated everyone like crap. Holy shit I’m actually being sympathetic for Murdoc oh my god I feel bad for him.

The game has totally changed. 2D having his greatest escape in mind, while Murdoc suddenly got an existential crisis. That's one of the best plot for the show!
Someone probably mentioned this in the comments already, but I think 2-D has taken the reins now (or starting to, at least). Because in Plastic Beach, Murdoc was wearing the Captain's hat in "On Melancholy Hill." But now, 2-D is the one wearing it, which I think symbolizes him stepping forward, and why Murdoc is having said crisis. He's always been at the helm, and now he's not.
Ahhh thank you, I just seen a few comments about that while swiping. But tbh, even though how much he'd been so cruel to 2-D (As we saw in Do ya thang MV, for example), I still can't help feeling sorry for him, poor bastard.
Oh don't get me wrong, I do feel bad for him too. Despite all the crap he put 2-D through, and all the stunts he pulled while trying to control/keep the band together, his passion for music is genuine (as shown in the Gorillaz iTunes interviews a few years back), and he does seem to care about the band in his own twisted Murdoc kinda way. Honestly, I like how the interviews show a deeper side to Murdoc, only if it's just a glimpse.
Can’t believe it’s been three years since this came out, this was definitely my favorite song from the song machine. Phase 6 was a great one. Crazy to think this came out right before the pandemic got bad haha.
I understand why Murdocs sad, and it was more than just the boat trip. The song and visuals represent the band not needing Murdoc to be with them anymore. Murdoc is realizing this and hides in his box Murdoc centered his whole life around this band, he has no other interests, (a good) family, or friendships outside of it He literally sold his soul for these people, but then they realize they didn’t need him to begin with. He has nothing left and that’s what’s sad.
I think murdoc will learn from this and realize it's not just *his* band he doesn't have control on what they do anymore and because of this he might change for the better.
its sad but also real. he put it all out for the band....but he also punished people a lot for not being what HE wanted. he didnt realize it was a two way street until he got kicked out of the car and took an outside view. and now that he has that perspective and now that hes back he realizes the bed hes made and the bed he has to sleep in. hopefully with time he will come to understand they arent pushing him out.....but they also arent his to control anymore, they've built their lives since his exile and now hes gotta built to stand back at the same level with them. its why good ol Ace takes the appearance of one of the vast monsters in the sky after his epiphany. he realizes that there are people who made such a massive impact on the rest of the group by simply just being there to help. simply giving them what they need without being toxic....and now until hes ready to get out of that box he has to work on himself

Theory: Murdoc is crying because he realizes the band doesn't need him to make music. I wouldn't really connect heavily to 2d. Everyone says that, but it's probably more with the fact that he controlled most of the band and its decisions (when it came to music at the least) at almost everytime. Even when he was in jail--Ace was a good friend and he told him to. Now he feels as if they don't need him and honestly a deeper thought without the band he's nothing.
Nobody talking about how beautiful Fatoumata's voice is. She makes it sound so easy and the huskiness of her voice contrasts 2D's smooth and soft voice perfectly.
Oh god I'm one of those people who comment "I can't believe it's been 4 years" now. I remember being 14 and coming home from school and listening to this for the first time right after it came out, and now I'm 17, about to graduate high school in less than a month. I've finally become one of those commenters who comment about how old they feel and talk about how fast time has passed by.
Man diawara is so good in this, really glad gorrilaz managed to get her, haven't heard of her before this but im really glad I got the chance to listen to her in this, also she looked great in this too! Her clothes are so vibrant and her joy really adds to the boat riding scenes.
Her performances live are other-worldly. She actually SHREDS on the guitar and can play some awesome solos. A really fantastic singer and musician, vastly underrated.
So my friend found out why possibly murdoc was crying: Everyone probably thinks this is what happened but like When Murdoc woke up, everyone was already heading outside. Boyo walked downstairs and when he creeped into the hall, the door was closing. This is because 2D was going downstairs. 2D then went outside, and Murdoc was downstairs just as soon as the door was closing. The green boyo looked over just to realize he was hearing music. In the video it shows him leaning against the door to listen and he hears the band playing without him. This is what gets the him. The guy pretty much made the band and now they're going off making music without him. It upsets him and he may start to believe that the band doesn't want him or he feels that he's not needed and the band can manage without him. After all, he was gone for the entire album The Now Now since he was in jail, and they managed fine with a replacement. So this is what pushes him to the edge and he starts to cry but shortly after closes himself back out from the world by going back in the case)

Critical-RAGE, I agree. The band seems so much happier without Murdoc. Like, let’s compare Desole with Momentary bliss. Momentary bliss is a heart racing pumping song whereas Desole is more calm and kinda chill (which I guess many people like). Murdoc was is Momentary bliss and he wasn’t really involved in Desole reflecting the two different sides of the song. Murdoc is kinda like the minor and 2D is the major. Correct me if I’m wrong.

The game has totally changed. 2D having his greatest escape in mind, while Murdoc suddenly got an existential crisis. That's one of the best plot for the show!
Someone probably mentioned this in the comments already, but I think 2-D has taken the reins now (or starting to, at least). Because in Plastic Beach, Murdoc was wearing the Captain's hat in "On Melancholy Hill." But now, 2-D is the one wearing it, which I think symbolizes him stepping forward, and why Murdoc is having said crisis. He's always been at the helm, and now he's not.
Ahhh thank you, I just seen a few comments about that while swiping. But tbh, even though how much he'd been so cruel to 2-D (As we saw in Do ya thang MV, for example), I still can't help feeling sorry for him, poor bastard.
Oh don't get me wrong, I do feel bad for him too. Despite all the crap he put 2-D through, and all the stunts he pulled while trying to control/keep the band together, his passion for music is genuine (as shown in the Gorillaz iTunes interviews a few years back), and he does seem to care about the band in his own twisted Murdoc kinda way. Honestly, I like how the interviews show a deeper side to Murdoc, only if it's just a glimpse.

Can’t believe it’s been three years since this came out, this was definitely my favorite song from the song machine. Phase 6 was a great one. Crazy to think this came out right before the pandemic got bad haha.
I understand why Murdocs sad, and it was more than just the boat trip.
The song and visuals represent the band not needing Murdoc to be with them anymore.
Murdoc is realizing this and hides in his box
Murdoc centered his whole life around this band, he has no other interests, (a good) family, or friendships outside of it
He literally sold his soul for these people, but then they realize they didn’t need him to begin with.
He has nothing left and that’s what’s sad.

its sad but also real. he put it all out for the band....but he also punished people a lot for not being what HE wanted. he didnt realize it was a two way street until he got kicked out of the car and took an outside view. and now that he has that perspective and now that hes back he realizes the bed hes made and the bed he has to sleep in. hopefully with time he will come to understand they arent pushing him out.....but they also arent his to control anymore, they've built their lives since his exile and now hes gotta built to stand back at the same level with them. its why good ol Ace takes the appearance of one of the vast monsters in the sky after his epiphany. he realizes that there are people who made such a massive impact on the rest of the group by simply just being there to help. simply giving them what they need without being toxic....and now until hes ready to get out of that box he has to work on himself

I feel like this video is really more of Murdoc realizing the things that he’s done wrong in the past and feeling sorry for himself. Because “desole” translates to “sorry” so maybe it’s Murdoc thinking he’s sorry to all of them for putting them through the things that he did, and now all of them are grown and able to handle themselves and he is depressed because he feels like they don’t need him anymore

Theory: Murdoc is crying because he realizes the band doesn't need him to make music. I wouldn't really connect heavily to 2d. Everyone says that, but it's probably more with the fact that he controlled most of the band and its decisions (when it came to music at the least) at almost everytime. Even when he was in jail--Ace was a good friend and he told him to. Now he feels as if they don't need him and honestly a deeper thought without the band he's nothing.

So my friend found out why possibly murdoc was crying: Everyone probably thinks this is what happened but like
When Murdoc woke up, everyone was already heading outside. Boyo walked downstairs and when he creeped into the hall, the door was closing. This is because 2D was going downstairs. 2D then went outside, and Murdoc was downstairs just as soon as the door was closing. The green boyo looked over just to realize he was hearing music. In the video it shows him leaning against the door to listen and he hears the band playing without him. This is what gets the him. The guy pretty much made the band and now they're going off making music without him. It upsets him and he may start to believe that the band doesn't want him or he feels that he's not needed and the band can manage without him. After all, he was gone for the entire album The Now Now since he was in jail, and they managed fine with a replacement. So this is what pushes him to the edge and he starts to cry but shortly after closes himself back out from the world by going back in the case)
