Today I learned Daft Punk has official retired. And Giorgio recorder his voice using 3 different microphones, one made in the 50s for his early life, another from the early 70s for that time, and the last one is a modern microphone for the future. Giorgio asked who is even going to notice the difference from those microphones. The sound Engineer said no one, except those two guys in the booth with helmets.

This comment is absolute! 😂😂😂
The initial disco beat drops when Giorgio decides to take the plunge and devote his life to his dream.
After he talks about breaking free of the concept of music being "correct", there is a classical buildup which finally breaks free from the steady disco beat replaced with complex drums and bass including a lot of offbeats.
The song steps you through a lot of genres that were developing over the course of Giorgio's life.
At the very end of the song, the frequency slows down enough to become the click track that shaped the sound of the future.
I get goosebumps at how symbolic this song is. It's a tale of the glory of coming into one's own as a musician and shaping the future of music, spoken through music and monologue.

When I was fifteen, sixteen
When I started really to play the guitar
I definitely wanted to become a musician
It was almost impossible because, it was
The dream was so big
That I didn't see any chance
Because I was living in a little town, was studying
And when I finally broke away from school and became a musician
I thought "well, now I may have a little bit of a chance"
Because all I really wanted to do is music
And not only play music, but compose music
At that time, in Germany, in '69, '70, they already had discotheques
So I would take my car, would go to a discotheque
Sing maybe thirty minutes
I think I had about seven, eight songs
I would partially sleep in the car
Because I didn't want to drive home
And that helped me for about almost two years to survive
In the beginning
I wanted to do an album with the sounds of the fifties
The sounds of the sixties, of the seventies
And then have a sound of the future
And I thought: "Wait a second
I know the synthesizer, why don't I use the synthesizer
Which is the sound of the future"
And I didn't have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a click
So we put a click on the 24-track which was then synced to the Moog modular
I knew that it could be a sound of the future
But I didn't realize how much impact would be
My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me Giorgio

@@singhanirudhbp There are two part to it.
1st His voice and cadence when saying that sentence betrays a rich history behind those words, and the words themselves hold meaning made even richer by the person saying it. Someone beeing "known" by a name has gravitas. Think "My name is Bond, James Bond"
The music underlining the sentence is the cherry on top
2nd He is one of the key figures a foundational part in the evolution of electronic music.

Crazy to think RAM is already 10 years old.. I still remember the hype when this album first came out.
In an interview Giorgio said that when he went to the recording studio they simply asked him to tell his story and that he did not know how they were going to use it.
He was in front of three microphones and asked the engineer why these three microphones and the engineer told him:
"One is from the 1940s-50s and they will use it to record your story from when you lived in Italy, another is from the 1960s-70s for when you tell your life in the 1970s, and a new microphone for when you speak about the future."
Giorgio replied: "That's great, but who would ever know the difference?"
Engineer: "Nobody."
Giorgio: "Then why are you doing it if no one will notice the difference?"
Engineer: "They, the two boys, can hear the difference."
In fact, if you pay attention you can hear the change in fidelity when he starts talking about the future. The recording is slowly blurred between different microphones in the middle of his sentences.
"I wanted to make an album with the sounds of the 1950s, the sounds of the 1960s...." - very old microphone
"... from the 1970s, and then have...". - 60s/70s microphone
"... a sound of the future." - New microphone, you can really hear the high range opening up.
Absolutely amazing. I love Giorgio, I love Daft Punk, i love this song and RAM is a contemporary masterpice.
Could you please specify which muc types?
These little touches are what makes good things great
can't find difference between 60 70 mics and modern mics
Might be placebo , where he says synced to the moduler his voice have more base and fidelity could be due to mastering but very little difference if any.

I would partially sleep in the car, because I didn’t wanted to drive home, and that helped me for about it. Almost 2 years to survive, in the beginning. I wanted to do an album, with the sounds of the 50s, the sounds of the 60s, of the 70s, and then have a song of the future, and I thought wait a second, I know the synthesizer, why don’t I use the synthesizer, which is the sound of the future. And I didn’t have any idea what to do, but I knew I needed a clic, so we put the clic, on the 24 track, which then was synced to the Moog Modular. I knew that could be a sound of the future, but I did not realized how much the impact would be. My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me Giorgio.
... we put the click on the 24 track, which then was synced to the Moog modular*
Moog was one of the first companies producing consumer modular synthesizer

The monologue is incredible, and Giorgio is also an incredible musician, him and Ryuichi Sakamoto are the gods of electronic music, Giorgio straight up just created house before the term was even invented, of course, in a really rudimentary way, but he helped to pave the way to the Chicago, UK and French people do develop what we know today as house, and honestly all other types of electronic music genres as well. So much respect for this man.

He sounds extremely German up until the spirit of Italy embodies him and he says his name.
He's from South Tirol in Italy, where there are a lot of German-speakers. His mother was one even :)
@NICHOLAS MEINI Technically trilingual, because of course, he’s speaking English in the song

Everybodys gangsta until Giorgio says what everybody calls him
In Italy, Spain and other similar countries, it's very unusual to be called by your 2nd name. I guess Giovanni Giorgio Moroder didn't like his 1st name or his father was also called Giovanni so everyone started calling him "Giorgio".

The drumming and/or drum programming on this track is phenominal. Fucking beautiful.
Drumming by Omar Hakim. One of the greatest drummers to ever do it. Recommend you listen to Daft Punk Motherboard and Daft Punk Contact his drumming is epic there as well
Yea its actual drummer with that crazy ass groove. FYI, with that album Daft Punk wanted to avoid drum - machines and drum samples. So I guess they did pretty outstanding job.
Me, as a drummer say... There's no way a Machine can give U these kind of dynamics, groove and feel.
