Joes brilliance is on display here today. It was broke. And he figured it out and fixed it.
Thank you for all you do for us Joe.
Ronnie knew it all along. For my next trick I'm gonna teach him how to paint pinball machines. 😂
Great work Joe. It ain’t broke anymore.
The moment i heard "I've already diagnosed it", yep, it's broke 🤣🤣
Good video Joe, Loved it😊
Thank you!
Playchoice arcade machines used a different PPU compared to the home console version resulting in the colors looking a bit off, many of these machines were cannibalized back in the day for early RGB mods for the home consoles and were only spared when more color accurate mods became available.
I love how the timer is going down waaaay faster then once a second , it's going down at least twice as fast, meaning for a credit you are only getting 2:30 seconds.
I forgot it was Tuesday! Thanks for the upload Joe! I've never seen one before!
I love how that A1up is riiiiight by the door.
We're hoping somebody will steal it
Very cool machine. Thanks for posting this.
Another machine saved from the scrap pile!
Just as I am about to troubleshoot issues with my double monitor PlayChoice-10! Having monitor issues.
While you were in the power supply it would have been worth replacing the X2 capacitors (there is one positioned parallel with the fuse)as those have a nasty habit of going up in smoke especially the ones made by RIFA.
There were two...the one right by the fuse and there was another one a little to the left on the other side of the smaller transformer under the "OLTS" tag I was thinking the same thing. Anyone that works on some audio equipment or test equipment are familiar with the RIFA "safety" caps of death. Word has it, their current ones are fine but they are definitely tainted. I would think that in a video arcade game that they would be particularly susceptible due to the humid environments that they are exposed to. Look for any cracking on them.
Great job Joe! 😎 but you would rather be playing an asteroid deluxe 😀
My grail right here.
You're the man Joe
Ha Joe. It’s broke. But not for long. Great job. 👍😁👍 bob.
This was a fun and really interesting post.
Awesome!
Somebody has played a bunch of Nintendo!!! 🙂
Here in Australia, Contra was called Probotector :)
"It's Broke". Good times figuring it out and fixing it up. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
I was totally surprised. I assumed it would be just regular NES cartridges.
That Cabinet is a thing of history love it. Though I guess this was he first Micro Transactions 😱😍
Joe did you speed the video up, that countdown clock was very fast :)
Nope, I think I was robbed!
nice one . thank you for you video.
greets to everyone ,
I remember this at a Circle K, a lot of people were playing Contra.
Looks like the one I restored and sold. Miss it sometimes
There was one BIG, BIG negative about these PC10 machines that I loathe and despised about, and that was the fact that the machine wouldn't let you keep on playing the game you selected until you ran out of lives. It would interrupt your game if the timer ran out and that was very annoying. I get it that the timer was good for giving you some time to explore all the game options. But they needed to be set up so that once you started a game, it would let you play until you ran out of lives even after the timer ran out.
it looks like that second counter is moving faster than a second.
I remember this! There was a youth center when I was young, which had one. I had learned the Pumch Out Tyson cod from watching the big kids enter it.
A fine job......😊
They made these machines subtract time faster than actual seconds. Some type of board clock cycle? It's a rent a Nintendo arcade style.
I believe the technical term is… “It’s broke!” 😂 enjoying your videos, Joe. Regards
Thanks James!
I think I spotted some RIFA caps in that power supply! Anyway, that's a cool machine.
SMB3 debuted in the US on a playchoice roughly 6 months before the retail version.
I have a dual monitor playchoice 10 and it’s definitely one of my favorites, not a huge fan of the monitors inside of them though
It's Joe!!!
Damn that timer is counting at 2x speed. Sneaky, Nintendo.
I knew as soon As I Saw the Notification It's Broke!!
You're good!
It's broke but don't call Dr. Mario because Joe, Ron, and phone a friend Shane have it covered! 😅
Man, those Nintendo seconds are SNAPPY! 😆
Since the PC-10 is basically an NES at heart, but uses designated carts. Over the years, adapters have been developed to connect regular 72-pin NES carts. When the adapter and a regular NES cart are being used, let's say in channel 1, the PC-10 will recognize the game and run it, but as for the title for the channel, it will be all dashes. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is a little different than the version for the NES. The PC-10 version allows you to enter your initial before you even start playing. Also, the PC-10 was the only way you could play SMB 3 in the USA before its release on the NES.
Is it broke?
I saw a few of the eprom chips don't have stickers over the eraser window. I would suggest putting some tape out stickers over them so they don't get erased on accident in full sunlight.
They've been like that since 1989.
As well as not getting all the seconds, they're a lot faster than real seconds.
I have a play choice 10 but has a very obscure issue. Also all 5 of my vs boards do the same thing. I will get these evenly thin verticle lines. They are not jailbars. People say these are ram lines and pefectly normal. I have my pc-10 board running though a super gun with a jamma adapter. At the local arcade they have Vs smb and it exhibits the same behavior, thin verticle black lines. Have you ever seen this? Or know why this happens?
Hey Joe!!
Hey Jason!
These arcade machines needs repairs forever they always break not worth to own if you want to own these then put money in them so you can pay for the repairs when it’s time arcade 1 up is doing a great job in selling games that never breaks
LOL
JOES, Why did the add those power supply FILTER Pcb boards? What are they used for to do what
You unbroke it!
I was always a sega guy until i played super mario bros 3
The Golf cart could have a bad eprom.
Again, since the PC-10 is an NES at heart, the cheat codes are the same. For example, to get 10 lives in Super-C, press RIGHT, LEFT DOWN, UP, A, B, (select for 2 players) then START. To get the sound test, hold both A&B on the title screen and press START.
for TMNT 2 to get a level select and 10 lives, on the title screen: B, A, B, A, UP, DOWN, B, A, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A (SELECT FOR 2 PLAYERS) START Timing is critical is that you don't have much before the demo kicks in
Used vacuum cleaner cord?
Itssssssss Brrroooookkkkkeeeee!!!!
In my honest opinion....I think it's BROKE...and Joe has the perfect solution for "Unbrokening it"😁😁
I'm building a mini playchoice 10 with an arcade1up cabinet and an intec fightstick. I just need the graphics for the cab at this point. I'm gonna have to pay for a custom print, and I'm sure it's not gonna be cheap lol. Any suggestions where to get a custom printed artwork decal kit? Thanks for the awesome footage regardless👏👍🤙🎮🕹
szabo's arcade might make you some or GameonGraphix
Take number 8 out and blow on it.
Hey Joe, kind of late to guess what is wrong with it, but I believe it could be the Freepistat or the Fribibulous converter. You might want to check the O-ring that connects to the twisted nut.
Golf? I was expecting Fester's Quest.
I remember going to a garage sale once and the guy had like 12 copies of Golf. Never inquired why, but I later surmised they were damaged copies and he kept swapping them out because they sometimes still worked. The NES was designed badly and damages the carts, bending the contacts and scraping the connectors. If you want a good NES, get a top loader.
On capacitors, too high of a value showing is not a good thing. Actually, with most meters, if they test as too high, it means the caps are leaky.
Good going on the voltage. There might still be a resistor out of spec, and the connector being burned makes me wonder. If it is pulling a bit much current there, some resistor could be taking a beating and altering the values in response to heat. And I'm glad recapping it and cleaning the connector made such a difference.
How come the ball didn't flatten the purple bloke?
at 10:50 there is an audible hum
What is the cost? I am really intressted. But I need to know the prize for this cabinet.
I had the game error happen with a two monitor when I bought it. I had a fried Mario Bros 2 that got INSANELY hot in the machine. It made other games not appear.
IT'S BROKE PEOPLE...... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😱😱😱
Hey! Do you also make custom arcade machines?
RJ
your kung fu is strong
2:53 It's broke!
The timer seems to be faster than seconds
I was robbed!
Yodelayheehoo
Are they just standard game ROMs like the ones on the cartridges for the Nintendo or the Pacific for this type of system it's a rather strange setup but then again that's Nintendo for you🤔🤔🤔🤔
Rad
Joe... It's broke!
How did you know?
@@LyonsArcade You know it's broke, because somebody brought it to Joey! Well done! I was happy to see it up and running, with cool nes games! Minus the golf lol
Its broke that's what's wrong. That's what Ronnie would say XD
7000 9000. Wells Gardner something else. it's a point of discussion
I like to be able to help in the comments. I immediately saw what is wrong with this machine: it's broke.
Nice. You're good!
Where do I get a fly back for a donkey kong? I have an original Popeye that's been converted.
If it has that original Sanyo monitor in it, you can get them from www.ArcadePartsAndRepair.com . You need to figure out which monitor you have in there first but he sells all of them that are available, and they're good quality. It's probably a Sanyo 20EZV if nobody's changed the monitor out. Good luck with it!
I do believe that it’s broke. 😂
It might be Broke!
How did you know?
@@LyonsArcade is there a Kid Icarus for the nintendo playchoice 10?
