Did it, worked. Thumbed and subscribed. Sailors and ratchet straps have always had a weird relationship. But in this day you have helped mend the toe that binds (pun) Cheers Homie.
I have used this for every load I have ran for the past 4 years and you will never have any issues with it as long as you when you loop the excess around and through have it facing the front of the trailer and pull towards the back of the trailer (any force the air put on the strap as your moving only tightens it) if you do it the opposite way and have a slick new strap it can wiggle loose
Gonna tey this tomorrow. Ive had my methods over the years(which honestly work just fine)..But hey, always down for new, possibly quicker ideas and tricks.
@@lawrencereevesfor us idiots, you should do a slow motion video, and maybe another video where you're doing the same thing but the ratchet strap is going from left to right across a bed or something so that idiots like me can see a little bit more clearly how this is done. I'm pretty sure I have it mastered now, but it definitely took me a good seven or eight times watching this video on repeat to understand. Because I have a strap going from the driver side of my truck bed to the passenger side of my truck bed. Seems hella tight though!
I've fuxked up so many loads with that slack getting caught in the trailer tires 😅 in not afraid to admit it and I've blew 3 tires this is ao important
Right below your ratchet you might notice a gap sewn in the strap, tuck your neatly folded bundle of strap through the gap and tighten. It's almost like it's designed that way.
I prefer making a round loop, then sending part of the strap through that to basically make a "knot". Then you can either use the handle to hold the loop down, or just let it hang. In the situation you just did, just letting it hang would work fine.
This didn’t work AT ALLLLLLL. Like, literally cannot express how much this didn’t work. Let’s put it this way. I would have better chances making a functional car made out of nothing but paper that could drive at 150 mph than to have a successful tie down for ratchet straps. I’ve watched every video on RUclips on different ways to tie them down and LITERALLY ALL of them didn’t work. Not even slightly. I fucking quit!!! I’m just gonna let the shit fly off the trailer!!! 🤬🤬
Ive done the round loop method hundreds, if not thousands, of times. Haven’t had it unravel once on me. I think this issue may be you my friend. You’re probably just not doing the methods correctly. It’s hard to copy from the RUclips videos, I didn’t know until a trucker showed me in real life. I hope you are able to figure it out, loose straps are dangerous for you and other drivers.
@@Jak1776lmao at your response but duuuuude I'm a chick and I've tried that way and THIS way and they work great!! But I've also been at this tie down business most of my life. Thanks to the Men!
Some not all ratchet straps have a dual web opening on the ratchet side before you tighten down completely just slide excess into that opening and tighten down
Well I have been doing this for about 10 years now and haven’t had any problems yet. Seems to be working for other people too. Maybe you can’t figure it out.
Ok so why is it that when I or anyone else does this it always always FUCKING ALWAYS comes loose when I'm in the middle of a busy ass highway with cement road blockers on both sides?
I drive on California roads and tie my straps this way. California roads are probably some of the worst roads from my experience and I haven’t yet had one come undone. (Knock on wood)
@@jeff7764 No I have not. Just all around California. Surveys show that California has some of the worst roads in the US to drive on. I would say in the Top 5. Our roads suck.
Usually the final tightening on the strap with this method is what holds it, mind you it’s always raining where I’m at, and the straps bind really well when wet and never slip with this method.
Thats how all the young guys i work with do it. One comes losse every time . And you have to redoit to tighten your straps. I will stick with old trusty duct tape.
Critical step: declare "ain't goin anywhere!"
Works every time 😂
Every dad everywhere has said that at least once.
@@lawrencereeves u forgot to slap it.
Never knew how to. Googled it, found your vid. Works Great. Thank you. Greetings from Hamburg, Germany.
Glad it helped!

I used this today when going to the dump. Worked great. Thanks
I’m glad it worked! You’re welcome!
So easy and secured. Did this yesterday and worked great 🤙🏽🤙🏽

Thanks… just did this on a four hour run. Worked like a champ! 🤘
Awesome I’m glad it helped! Thanks!
It'll fail because you didn't smack it say "that ain't goin no where".
Biggest mistake I see beginners make.
Don’t doubt the professionals. I definitely said that! 😂😂
@@lawrencereeves Yeah you did!
You mean “taint” going anywhere 😂
They're in lies the problem. The slap is more important than people realize. It's the endow safety protocol and one hundred percent effective
Thanks! exactly what I wanted to learn, Greetings from West TX
You're my new hero, works great
Pro tip: you can get more leverage when tighting your ratchet if you slide the strap through the handle to make an extension loop.

Nobel peace prize now. We jjust threw the slack in the truck doors and slammed em hoping for the best
Lol 😂 hey, that'll work too.
Yep that would be me because the wind would loosen that on me.
I don't trust you, you didn't slap the shyt before saying "that anit going anywhere"
The wind driving down the road would loosen that on me. Nothing ever goes “easy” for me.
Will never happen

Nice! I mean you made that ONE twist on tie down strap.
After rolling the excess straps, and before the love tap, give the ratchet a crank or two. Doing so will tighten the excess even more
Right below your ratchet you might notice a gap sewn in the strap, tuck your neatly folded bundle of strap through the gap and tighten. It's almost like it's designed that way.
I have used a lot of rachet straps over my years and I have no idea what this gap in the webbing under the rachet is that you're talking about.
I prefer making a round loop, then sending part of the strap through that to basically make a "knot". Then you can either use the handle to hold the loop down, or just let it hang. In the situation you just did, just letting it hang would work fine.

I’d say you really need to secure the strap ie standard loop through centre and around, and then do this technique 🤷♂️
