- We recently took our tour of Indonesia to East Java where we attempted to hike Mt Bromo...and things did not go to plan!

East Java is beautiful, and our tour started early in the morning when we went to the popular viewing point to see the sunrise that lights up Mt Bromo, an active volcano in East Java. It was a beautiful sight, but things took a turn for the worse when we attempted to hike to the summit of Mt Bromo!

If you are going to visit Mount Bromo, my advice:
1. Find as much information as possible about tourism in Bromo
2. Prepare all your needs, especially for emergencies.
3. In order to enjoy it, don't schedule a weekend or holiday visit.
4. The right time is entering the end of the rainy season

The dust and sulphuric gas surely may incite asthma. It's not only inhaler that is needed, but also a masker. Bromo is actually inside a caldera and the sand sea is actually volcanic ash. Bromo is also a living volcano and it erupt more often. The latest eruption was just last year, and in every eruption it pours tons of ashes down to the sand sea.
Totally agree! We weren’t offered a mask and didn’t see anyone wearing them, we definitely think one is needed! Glad I managed to safely get back, will be sure to be more careful next time too 🙏🏼

OMG! I can feel exactly what Danielle felt, because I have asthma too. An asthma inhaler is very crucial, even a life saver sometimes. I never ever go anywhere out of the house without it. Even if my asthma is considered mild too.
It’s scary when it flares up when you least expect it 🥹 but I’m lucky I wasn’t too far away to be able to go and get it and feel better again. Should have been more prepared but you live & learn 🙏🏼 thanks so much for your comment

That happened to me in Badrinath, Himalayas, India.. i ran out of oxygen in the evening, i was lke a fish gasping! They had no facilities whatsoever especially considering that it is full with old people coming in pilgrimage. Kudos to my driver driving in pitch dark on one of the most dangerous road in the world and bringing me back below 2000mt-

I have ever been there, and everything went according to plan. I visited there before this video was made, and the air quality was not that bad. I have an allergy to dust, but I am okay! I go there in June 2023 before.
Ah yes just before us! We visited in September 2023. The sulphur wasn't very nice Matt said at the top of the crater. But lots of dust in general

Thank god you are safe! What would you recommend for someone who doesn't have asthma per se, but is a bit overweight or doesn't have a lot of stamina especially when going uphill inclined for long duration? Also the factor of darkness..
How was the hike upwards? Or is there any taxi service?
Thank you so much 🙏🏼 the walk uphill in the morning is a little tough, but not so bad. It’s an early start but if you can make it to the top for sunrise then the view is incredible. As the day gets on it would be too hot to walk around I think.
For sunrise there isn’t a taxi service because there are so many jeeps around. They park as close as they can and then you have to walk the rest of the way up to the creator. It’s probably a 25minute walk up.
If you do go then we hope you have an amazing time 🙌🏼🫶🏼

Poor Danielle. Volcanoes spot journey is not recommend for asthma because it was high risk. Please just go to beach, lots of beautiful beach in Indonesia.
We do love the beach, but also exploring mountains. Luckily Danielle had much better luck in the rest of Java ☺️ you should see our other vlogs if you haven’t already 🙌🏼❤️

Gunung bromo itu emang sangat menakjubkan. Tapi syg nya tdk terdapat tumbuhan yang bisa hidup disana.
We loved it, and know to be better prepared for next time! ❤️
Try " seretide " inhaler (for therapy), i ve asthma also previously, and now free from it ... i used that inhaler twice a day by routine for 1 month, and after that once a day for the next month, and once for 3 days and so on (reduced it) ... when i got attack, i used the inhaler directly regardless the therapy .... i did this for 1 year, after that i free from 25 years asthma ... 😁

If you're having difficulty when sleeping, then better stay in hotel. A little bit more expensive, but you can sleep well.
Sleeping is okay, we love the raw and chaotic travel. We don’t travel like this all the time, but it’s fun when we do and then we just catch up on sleep after
