4.0 content let's go!!
Naah. I'll go with 4th.
Master class from Ridge on how to be a good sport when everything goes against you
Dice rolls didn't go Ridge's way, and the first twist was pretty hard, but god, the skaven forces still feel so unbalanced compared to the Stormcast forces in this spearhead box. Holy moly.
In any case, well played by both of you guys. So happy to see 4.0 content, and spearhead games in the channel!
Best AoS battle reports on RUclips, as a new player myself, I've learned a lot. Keep them coming 🔥🤝
For a moment there all I could think about was "Those Stormcast look wrong, why don't they have dragon heads?" and then I remembered that's what they're supposed to look like...
Looking forward to this!
Cool to finally see spearhead, but man... this was just not a good match. Skaven got ROLLED and I'm not sure if its because the spearhead isn't balanced or if the dice just really were against them. Hope to watch more in the future that are a bit more balanced.
The skaven spearhead force is not very good, plus the rat ogres were deployed way off to the side and they are the only real threat in the force, so stormcast was able to ignore them for the first part of the fight and kill off some clan rats and get the other characters in combat.
It's very quickly becoming clear that either GW never playtested this mode, or they intentionally want the Skaven losing, especially against the Stormcast in the box. I have only seen the Skaven win once, and that was with a new player running the Stormcast AND an EXTREME amount of good luck on the Skaven rolls, and even then it was an incredibly close thing.
Been waiting for this! So excited, yes-yes!
Skaven should be played as followed imo. Screen with clan rats. Let them die. Shoot at man things with guns. Retreat far away. Summon more clan rats. Screen with clan rats. Retreat clan rats. Shoot man things with guns. Charge man things with big things only when they are weak and it is safe to sneak-squeak around them
There are no guns...
There's really no guns, I think a pistol on the clawlord, the engineers rifle, and maybe a single gun on the ogres. I think ideally you can use the clan rats to try and tar pit stuff your opponent uses to do damage, so that you can choose when and where the ogres and clawlord are fighting, the board is way too small and the reduced turn count make playing cagey impossible
Truly the best possible channel for battle reports, up to date, well played, entertaining, informative, tops production quality. Hope this edition sees the channel grow even more! Y'all looked stoked, Ridge the Rat Rising!
Actually legitimately excited for AOS4. Really seems well thought through, clearly presented with good interactivity and tactical options.
It’s going to be such a long 3 weeks lol
Does 4th edition actually have a official release date?
@@rollnycgaming2279 yes. Preorder next Saturday then release 2 Saturdays later
Damn nice paint jobs really
That board size is insane.
Great content, I just can't see Spearhead being interesting to play after a few games, the play space is too small and doesn't allow for really meaningful movement tactics. Kind of just, move forward, or stay still, fast units are basically neutered beyond "I can get an easy charge", making lightly armored scout style units to be useless. Very excited for full 4.0 AoS though.
Spearhead is focused on new players, brand new to the hobby or players who want to experiment with a new army before investing hundreds of dollars on a full army. There's definitely a time and place for it.
@@rollnycgaming2279 While I understand that, I find it weird that they chose to make it have a different ruleset and warscrolls for units as they won't be fully representative of a full army and game experience that they are investing for.
@claybillings why? Why would they do that? Did you not listen to a word spoken? The point is to get NEW PLAYERS into it, no new players want 300 pages of rules
@@jtowensbyiii6018 I believe what they are doing with the module system is the right approach, scale it back for new players but they are still learning the same warscrolls and ruleset as everyone else. Theoretically you are still making them learn "300+" pages with spearhead once they outgrow it (which I assume will be quickly, and I don't mean by model count) and then have to learn new warscrolls and rules for the things they have already been using.
@claybillings yep, that's how reality works, you don't ask someone to know calculus
How fast do you guys think would the game be if you wouldn't have to record it? You think you could finish under one hour?
For sure! We've averaged 40 min to 1hr 20 min - so about an hour on average, with filming included, once we were up to speed
Awesome content guys.
29:50 : isn't the melee range 3 inches ? unless Spearhead is not like 4.0 ?!?
combat range is indeed 3", but you still have to get within .5" to complete a charge
Stormcaaaaast ❤
Do you guys see a balancing issue with Spearhead? Until now in all the battle reps I saw Stormcasts owned the Skaven pretty hard..
There's no question of it. The Skaven SH is very, VERY underpowered, especially relative to the Stormcast one.
You guys are the best channel with out a doubt thanks so much for making these amazing games 👍💯👹
I would like to see more overlays, for example for units/Models and of course this is Spearhead, its meant for beginners, I dont know the Rules and I dont know what they are talking about, they should explain a little how it works, but overall looks fine
Storm turn 1 shows how wildly imbalanced this can be with a small board and going first. SC auto won the game with that opening combat. While things can be done to mitigate it like deploying as far away as possible, giving elite units run/charge is busted in small quarters. Not a fan.
Seen the same armies played on a bigger map and that seems fair.
Really like the paint job on the SC!
Thanks for the game, but oh boy are these armies unbalanced.
Are they? I have seen good card draws and plays from the Stormcasts and bad dice and some blunders from the the Skaven. For that the game results wasn't that much of a surprise, no?
The skaven force only has one threatening unit in the rat ogres and too many points invested in support heroes. I do think it's overall not very good compared to a lot of other spearhead forces. That said, for what it's meant to do I think it works fine for spearhead which is to get newer players playing as fast as possible out of the box.
Just wondering when are the non spear-head battle reports going to come out ?
When we're allowed to release them!
Love the paint schemes
The paint scheme on the stormcast eternals is gorgeous and inspiring!!
Thank you! 🙏
I have to say watching this makes me feel real bad about the balance of Spearhead. I know you said you guys played other games and this was the only one that was this one sided. I think it would have been better to see one of those games instead of this one.
Love the length of the content just wish things were easier to see, hard to tell which modeles are which and where things are.
The Speerhead forces Looks not good Balance in this Box
My kids are super excited for Spearhead- better they have models fight than they do themselves! 🤷
I see that you have certain choices to add to your forces before the battle began (enhancements). I was under the impression that the Spearhead forces were fairly set in stone. Exactly what kind of options do you have?
Does something in the rules or set up require those large towers?
I'm very curious as to the base size of the clawlord.
AWESOME!THANKSFORSHARING!I willhavetowait until I gobacktowork,toget methenewskaventide,asI amon mysummerbreak!It wouldseemthatthestormcastsarebetterthentheskaven?
For 4th edition one of the things I'm most concerned about is that 3" combat range. With the loss of combat ranges per weapon what makes the units feel different from each other? How do you keep stuff safe if every hammer unit can reach over screens? Yea, keep things spaced behind the screens but as everyone has probably experienced, that doesn't always line up, but most stuff having 1-2" range can save you from very serious losses. Has the 3" combat range on everything felt as bad for you guys playing as I'm imagining it'll feel?
nope, it's honestly been amazing overall - speeds things up and simplifies the needless minutia of pile-ins to focus on the more fun aspects of the game!
I'm sure there will be a learning curve, but overall its a massively positive change imo!
i swear Jordan does a couple of biceps curls before hes on camera , Ha =)
I wish I had that much free time! 😅
I really wish for more close up shots during the battle. The painting schemes are top notch!
Use of non standard Spearhead terrain can alter the battle. The large chunky pieces though awesome looking are nothing more than eye candy and should have been just off the board. They hindered movement and line of sight. They provided zero value on the battlefield. Lone support heroes need a well placed cover terrain, and most things can use terrain that blocks line of sight.
Possible counters to reserve units. 1) Weaken but DO NOT eliminate if possible 2) Concentrate your efforts on those units that can't come back.
Are the battle tactics secret? I thought these would be open info for both players. Seemed like in this game the other person didn‘t know what the active player was trying to achieve.
They are not known to the opponent, correct!
Okay, that‘s a big thing I‘ve never seen anybody talk about or I just missed it completely.
Pretty sure I‘ve seen this done wrong already. Or maybe others did it openly for the benefit of the viewer.
Can liberators run and charge?
He said there was an ability that let them once per battle run and charge. I'm not sure if it's a spearhead specific thing or something the stormcast can do now, but liberators cannot run and charge on their own normally.
Hopefully Spearhead is just for the start of the edition and will get less and less over time.
Should you not choose a battle tactic at the start of the turn?
not in Spearhead! You can score tactics based on the cards you draw each round!
such insane paint jobs!
Could you tell me how have you painted the white armor of the stormcast eternals?
Hell yes, nice work!
Do they give the measurement of the terrain pieces? I'm trying to create faction specific terrain.
So excited to finally see Spearhead / 4th Edition battle reports!
Skaven: oh no! We suck again!
LFG!!!
I thought it also had jezzails?
Spearhead!!!!!lets go

Great video
Watched the battle report and enjoyed it but will say, it is probably a good idea to think about what content you are putting out and the choices in it.
This is a new edition, with specifically the spearheads from the onboarding starter set. The power gamer being the first move of the video is going to be offsetting for a lot of new players that are not interested in a competitive scene and just wanted to see how the new edition feels, come here as the first non Warhammer community content see that and have a negative response
Bro the into is toooo long
