- Hey everyone, I hope that you're all doing well x
A lot of you have been asking me questions about my Oxford application process and so I thought I'd combine it all into one video where I explain to exactly how I found the journey.
I've tried to include lots of details and for that reason I'm so sorry that I keep looking down at the piece of paper on my lap. And while I'm apologising for that, I'd also like to say sorry for the constant change in background light. I was facing a window and the clouds just couldn't make their mind up.
Being an ethnic minority myself, I find that there isn't enough encouragement on the internet for people to apply to Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities, so for this reason, I really wanted to make this video.
I hope that each and every one of you watching this video feel inspired and above all I hope that you do apply!
I really hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions, please do leave them in the comments below.
Don't forget to subscribe. Love,
Mani x

This is the best, realest and most descriptive of the whole application process. I am a fresher to study Maths this year and I literally re-lived the whole application process watching this video. I could literally relate because I had 4 interviews and my 3rd interview lasted for almost an hour because we went in depth in one of the topics the tutors taught me. Well done and I will definitely share this mate. This is GOLD. See you in October mate.
Thank you so much, your comment really means a lot. I'm so excited for you!! Good Luck with your time here and if you have any questions, hmu x Hopefully see you soon!
I was waiting for an indian to make such vlogs! We're from same country mani! Keep sharing such videos❤😂

Hi mani it's so comforting to see a fellow Sikh repping oxford. I'm applying to ox in the next few months for history of art but am so nervous as I also am taking the IB. Your video really helped. X
It's so good to hear from a fellow Sikh too! Good Luck with your application, and if you need any help with anything, hmu x
how you doing now
Thank you so much dude, Really hyped me up. This holiday has been a time for me to kick out gaming and put my foot on this oxford business
I wish I could like this video twice. It’s really inspired me, thanks for making this
Hi Mani. I'm 14 and it's been my dream to get into Oxford for the longest time. I google the colleges the fees and all that stuff. I want to study organic biology and chemistry because I want to be a surgeon. And it's going to be so hard considering I'm from Namibia...but I have a realy supportive family and I had a talk with my parents about it and this video realy helped. Thanks😘
Hello! I am 12 years old and my dream
is to go to Oxford and study PPE. I know is difficult, and even more coming from Argentina because I have to do the IB exam (which my school has) and do the admission exam at the British Council (since my school doesn’t have it), but I will try and hope for the best!
By the way Mani, I love your videos! They are really helpful! Regards from Buenos Aires! ❤️
Good luck to you! xx
WUNDER KID That’s my dream too!
Sharing that dream... I'm applying this year
@@katharinaklotz6558 Jesus live a little your 12 😂
@@say4697 haha no I'm not, as I said I'm applying this year 😂 so I am 17 now turning 18 soon 😂
Hey dude, congratulations on getting into Oxford! I'm super happy to see students from BS are studying computer science in uni, and I'm not the only one :P You're the first person I found out who's doing so haha!
Hey Mani! I'm starting Oxford this year at BNC and I've been really enjoying your vlogs and videos! Can totally relate about weird email times during the process. I'd enjoy hearing more about the summer program that your helping out with / generally what goes on in Oxford during the summer, sounds fun!
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you, and am glad that you enjoy the videos. I hope to see you around Oxford soon!
I love your channel! This was such a great video, thank you. :)
Great video! Down to the point and somehow I feel a little calmer about my application process this year ;) I'm applying for an Oriental Studies course... Good luck with your studies this year!
Thank you so so much! Which division in Oriental Studies are you applying for?
This video was great and i am sure it will be so helpful to hopeful oxford applicants!!
Thank you for the lovely video Mani! I am applying to Oxford for 2018 and I have my MAT this 2nd of November. I am really worried since I have not had enough time to practice and no teachers helping out. Your video really encouraged me! Wish you all the best with your studies :)
Thank you so much!
Also applying for computer science and Philosophy, this is so encouraging. Thank you!
How’d it go?
@@krishvids608 good question
mani I Love your swag, your moves, your style your such a DIVA girl!
you are soo inspiring! wait for me at oxford!
Awesome video Mani, thanks for posting, hoping to make an application there after 2 years of A levels :)
Hi, I am considering applying for Computer Science and Philosophy and I would to hear from you what's it been like for you so far. Do you think you could make a video saying more about the course? Thanks!
Hi! I've got an interview on Wednesday for law at Oxford and I'm super stressed! I want to get into Oxford so bad and this video was honestly so inspiring because I also had a similar experience where my school counsellors (and my school's in Delhi too haha) told me that applying to Oxford was pointless because I definitely wouldn't get in for a competitive course like law. And I've got a tiny bit of hope now. So thank you, genuinely❤️
I hope it went well! x
hi, can i get some tips regarding admission , if you would like to?
Please let me know when the application or admission process starts

thank you so much for the very encouraging words! i am applying to read jurisprudence (the fancy oxford name haha) for 2020 entry and i am also coming from a background that would be considered 'abnormal' / 'unconventional' for oxford - hopefully my aspiration can be realised!!
were u successful?
I am having a hard time convincing myself if whether I have what it takes to do an MSc in Biodiversity conservation and management because primarily the program is looking for specific people who have a background in either life or social sciences, and my background actually lands on the middle of these two. For two years, I strategized on getting enough research fieldwork experience and international presentations that pin down to either of these sciences. Im on the verge of deleting my application account, but your vlog truly did me a favor. "Theyre looking for people who have potentials."
I want to apply for the exact same course this has helped me so much
thank you so much! ❤️
Hello I'm eleven I am like annoyingly obsessed with oxford as well I fell 😍 with oxford but u no it seem like a long journey but when you said don't lose hope my heart filled with hope so now I am studying as hard as I can as well me and a friend called jerry will be with me on the journey
YAASSS!
This video was so helpful!! Thanks so much for sharing :D was wondering if you had any tips for mathematical personal statements? (I want to apply to oxford to do maths but realise that computer science and philosophy will be a tad different, hence the 'mathematical' 😂)
Hey there mani,😃 I could literally relate myself to your story.. Im from Malaysia and studying in Oxford has always been a dream since small and coming from a background where none of my schoolmates applied to Oxford before and neither my family.. I worked my way out independently researching on the courses, the interview process and the scholarship for the funding matters against all sort of words of discouragement..The interview process was definitely challenging nevertheless, I graduated in MSc Software Engineering from department of Computer Science 2 years ago and I’m from Kellogg’s college. Way to go mani👍🏻 all the best 😍
#SameUniSameDepartment 😄
Omg, hi. I’m also from Malaysia and has always wanted to study at Oxford. I’m also interested in Computer Science and Physics so I don’t really know if I would like to study Computer Science. As an Oxford alumni, could you please tell me what the Computer Science course entails and why did you choose it specifically? Any help would be appreciated! It’s so relieving and encouraging for me that someone from Malaysia actually got in to Oxford. Many thanks!
What books would you recommend me to read in philosophy for PPE? Right now I'm studying Platon, Sofocles and Aristotel from old philosophy and René Descartes form mid age. And to what extent do you think books as Critical Thinking by A. Fisher and Thinking Skills from Cambridge would help for my TSA.
Hi!
What is the procedure for getting into masters in Economics. I'm highly motivated but it's all foggy and the road isn't clear.
I really need some guidance.
I'm from India too, and I was obsessed with Oxford from when I was in the 4th grade. But I took CBSE in 12th grade and I didn't even know IB existed until I was halfway through 11th grade. So I'm already at a disadvantage. Moreover, I know no one wants to talk money, but here's the thing; I want to go to oxford for med school and it just costs so much even with scholarship and I can't possibly afford it.
Hi, would you be able to advise on whether to choose Maths or Maths and Computer Science since the intake for M+CS is very small?
Hey Mani I am new to this, I wanna ask you that where did you go actually for that interview ( I mean in Delhi or foreign, if foreign than how ,what was the procedure from the very beginning?..... please reply to me. .😃
Could you please do a video on how to prepare for the IB exams? I'm taking mine in May xx love your videos :)
I'm definitely planning to do one on this soon! x
I'm applying for Oxford Biochemistry this year. Since I am from Brazil, I will apply with my actual marks. 😓😓😓
Freaking out a bit...
Did u get in
Did you get in ?????
@@kanchanvinod1281 nah he didn’t. He went to kings instead
halo! Nice videos! Can i know what exercise do you do to prepare your examinations? I am a year 3 med student. I wanna find MC exercise that is organized by different system e.g. reanl, cardio, etc. THX
What were your a levels? Do you need to know programming before even applying? Did you take a level computing/computer science?
I'm applying for Oxford biochemistry this year , I'm a bit worried about it as I have ASD but I had very strong GCSEs and good AS grades
What was your MAT score? (If you don’t mind me asking)
I am a graduate student, reading for MSc in clinical embryology at green templeton college, this year :)
I am 14 years old and it's my dream to study medicine at Oxford. Any tips? Same here, I'm from a city where there is no history of anyone going to Oxford. I want to do it. I am obsessed with Oxford. What kind of questions do they ask in an interview? Loved your vid 💖
Hey! I'm from New Delhi too but to be honest I've never heard of TBS like ever. I came to know about the school because of you and I'm kinda awestruck with the fundamentals of the school. They conduct GCSE not CBSE/ISE boards. Well , currently I'm pursuing my bachelor's in physical sciences (physics, maths, comp sci) from DU(Delhi university) and wish to apply to Oxford for MS in physics. I've seen some past aptitude test and they were really really easy.i know I will clear that. But what I'm concerned about is the screening process. I have come to know that Oxford is inclined towards Brit students. Also, do you know any scholarship tests because courses are really expensive there. I'm a 3rd year student (last year).
Well can you suggest me which subjects should I opt if I wanna go to ox for law
well, just a fellow mate like you .... I loved the innocency and transparency in your description. I am a Sikh fellow who received Offer for DPhil in Engineering Science for Oct '18. Not been allocated the college yet as I had an open application. Hope to see you round in Indian/Sikh Soc. I also have same offer from Cambridge. But have not decided yet, Cam or OX. Help me if you can. Thanks and Love mate!
Congratulations! Getting an offer is an exceptional achievement from one of Oxbridge, let alone both! Oxford is gorgeous and the Sikh Society is small and close-knit! So, I'd definitely vote #TeamOxford !
Was the summer course you helped at UNIQ by any chance?? I'm going on it this year (for computer science!) and I'm super excited, though slightly nervous too. I just discovered your channel and am binge-watching your videos right now...
It wasn't! But two of my best-friends will be helping out at the Comp Sci UNIQ this year! So I might be down to say hi!
Sir please upload videos on the interviews... please
I'm intending to do MS in computer science from University of oxford. Can you suggest me how to get admission.
Can you please tell me that how much marks in bmat should consider really good.
I just discovered your channel and I am literally binge watching your videos. I am an Italian student and I am going to apply to Oxford for 2019 entry, I have a question about the offer that Oxford makes to the people that apply, are the entry requirements on the Oxford website only indicative? Because my grades have always been pretty average with some exceptions, take English and Philosophy, so I am scared that Oxford will just exclude me because my grades aren't that high, they are not low, around 80%, but do you think I might be considered?
Sofia Alessandri the grades on their website are basically the offer you will get, it won’t be lower unless you do a foundation year
What about getting into oxford after graduation?
hello mani, im 16 and applying to uni this year, i have a terrible ib11 score in my low 30s and my school sends these scores to universities. do you think its difficult for me to get in now? even if i get a 40+ predicted which im sure i will
itd be great if you could help, thank you so much.
hi Mani, i would like to know where and what was your high school? I love you!
If you are open to it, could you share your IB subject and overall results??
Hai mani...
Thanks for the video
Iam applying to oxford in the upcoming year.
To st jhons college for religious and Oriental studies. Can get some advise for preparations....plz
Do you have to go to the formal dinners?
Hey can you explain a bit about IB. I've heard this abbreviation for the very first time.Actually I'm planning to apply to oxford for post graduation in literature. I wanna know will it be useful for me to go for the IB? If yes then kindly explain a bit more about the program (IB).
Hi sir, I'm a bsc second year student n I'll be completing my final year in 2021. I humbly request you to make video on how an indian can get into Oxford or Cambridge medical school. Plzzzzz tell me the entire process from admission to interview.
hey Mani ! I'm Dikshita from India and I'm currently applying to Oxford for the 2021 undergrad admissions and I don't know if I have to write the IELTS english language proficiency test to get in. Although I've been educated in an English medium school all my life. can you help me out?
Yaaay you Oxford lot are finally coming out of hiding 😩🙌
Hello, I had terrible GCSEs , could i still apply to Oxford even if my A Levels are straight A* , or would they still turn me down?
Hey Zara! If you have good A-Levels or predicted A-Levels (by "good" I mean meeting the standard offer for your subject, or higher), I would definitely still apply! GCSE grades are only one part of the process, and you can make up for them elsewhere. If there's a specific reason that your GCSEs didn't go as well as planned, I would definitely get your teacher to put that reason in their reference, so that admissions tutors get a bit of context when they see the results. If your GCSEs aren't great, I'd focus on working as hard as possible on your A-Levels as well the entrance exam for your respective subject, to show them that those grades were just a blip. Hope this helped xx
Hay bro ! I am 17 years old can I apply for Oxford .. I am huge fond of computer science

Hi Mani.I am a software Engineer in an Canadian IT company. Oxford was a dream for me since 9 standard. I didn't know why i want to go there but i have always wanted to go. How much percentage is required to take admission in Oxford University for graduation??
Very useful
Hi mani, I'm a science student in india. After my 12th how can I get a scholarship in computer science. And what are the main subject like I.T. , Physics and maths or there are more? Guide me bro.
What GCSE grades did you get?
Hi mani, I just had one question. I just completed my cambridge igcse exams and I will be doing the IB. Which results do universities care more about when giving the admission? Do they look at our IGCSE results?
Aman yes
Hi Mani, how did you go about learning Haskell in Oxford and was Haskell the primary focus in the Comp Sci side of things in the first term? Thanks
Haskell was rather different in that it was very mathematical, with a strong focus on function and Induction (It's definitely worth going over them). It's definitely the primary focus of your first term, but not the year. You cover a course called Imperative Programming in the second two terms, which I would say is given much more importance relative to Haskell over the year. Hope that answered your question :)
Thanks :)
When did you go to england ?
What sort of things are Oxford specifically looking for in an application and personal statement? How do I write a personal statement? x
I think that above all, they are looking for genuine passion and interest in the subject that you are applying for. If you've chosen the right subject for yourself, that will come across naturally x
The education process is different here in India and my school doesn't really have those kind of things. So of anyone could help me it would be great
Hi! I really enjoy your Oxford videos, but one tiny thing you said really scared me. I got an interview for BioSci at New College, and I only got two interviews, they are all perfectly within 30 minutes, as if the professors didn't like me at all. I am so upset now and the result will come out really soon, too... So what do you think?
Did you get in?
what did u get for your gcses
do you think I may get some kind of fund or financial aid to study (mathematics and philosophy)in UK universities if I get good results in my ielts and take international exams to reach the qualifications since my country's exams may not appear really reliable....I'm 17 currently living in iran and due to the sanctions and our fragile economy I may not be able to pay for my undergraduate degree in uk...am I forced to change my target country......?
Does Oxford University offer job placements??
Hii mani can you please make a video for PhD students also
Can we do post graduation after mbbs from Oxford?? .im from India..plz
From where to apply for it I am from India
Do you recommend Cambridge for computer science?
Aint nobody got time for Cambridge, Oxford all the way.
I just started year 12 , what should I do now other than revising to get into oxford, do they look at extra curricular ?
Emma_xx_ Xx they don’t particularly look for specific extra curricular if that’s what you mean, but any thing that shows you have good time management and have hobbies is good. Eg I wrote about volunteering and running as this shows I can balance academics with other commitments. You don’t have to do anything fancy

Sir please let me know how to apply for MS civil engineering or MBA program
Hi,
I'm in year 12. The whole Computer Science with Philosophy caught my eye because I'm really interested in AI and ML.
Just wondering, what kind of things did you mention in your personal statement, that showed your interest in philosophy? I have a feeling I am more interested in AI rather than philosophy. I'm worried if I lack this philosophical knowledge that other applicants may have.
I was definitely interested in AI more than philosophy, and that's the bit that I mentioned in my PS. Tutors know that that will most-likely be your motivation to study philosophy, so don't worry about not knowing about Descartes or Plato, they don't care if you've studied any of that before. They're looking for logical ability in philosophy, rather than any body of philosophy knowledge (that is, if we actually have knowledge, and we're not all just brains in vats lol) x
Thanks for the reply! Do you have any books I can read regarding the whole logical ability in philosophy? Also how does Computer Science with maths compare to CS with philosophy in terms of the machine learning and AI aspects?
Thanks again
What about your funding bro??? It is a full funding or we should have to pay the fee??
About to go for interviews in mid-December! And my intended major is CS & Phil! So excited!
Yuxing Zhou well done and good luck! I’m going for an interview soon too
hey please help me!i am in class 12th rn and wanted to apply for oxbridge uni and thought that i had to do so after my 12 results which would come in April 2020...but only yesterday i found that i had to apply in class 12 before the results...pls help me i dont know the system there...is there any chance i can apply as a late applicant what should i do?
awwal kaur no they do not look at any applications once after the deadline, so your best shot is to apply next year. The deadline for this year was three months ago
Are great GCSE and AS/A level grades enough? If not, then what else is required and to what extent?
Ahmed Rao good personal statement, strong interview, and strong performance in entrance exams
So are you doing bachelor or masters?????
Hiiii...!!! Any way to get the admission if the application date has gone ..???
Aniket Motwani no sorry they are very strict on application deadlines and will not accept applications after the deadline due to already having a high number of strong candidates who applied in time
Hi Mani, great channel
I do maths, physics, spanish and history at a level and am predicted 4A*
I want to apply for computer science and philsophy and was wondering if i had any chance considering i don't do further maths.
I was curious as to whether the philsophy element would make me advantageous due to my study of humanities.
Thanks and appreciatr all the advice!
I know that Oxford don't discriminate against those who haven't taken further maths if your school doesn't offer it, but if it does and you have chosen not to take it, then I'd spend as much time as possible working on the MAT preparation so that you have a score that shows your mathematical abilities. Humanities will help to show that you can write well and analyse written text, so that's a positive!
I'd definitely focus my energy on the MAT over the summer x
ThisIsMani thanks for the advice and i will do loads of MAT papers, my school did offer further but i was more interested in doing a variation and as well as that my school only allowed the top level 9 marks at gcse so i was not allowed as i got a level 8 (even tho a high level 8 at gcse which is an A* equivalent)
