I believe, for very beginers tabs is essential because it gives you the feeling that you are following something organised and that you are not flowing somewhere between wrong and correct. After this stage (which includes getting used to the sound of the bass) it is up to the person to be more independant and confident to fill in the tabs or even understand if they are wrong or not.
AnotherGuyOnRUclips Pretty sure that's not a fretless Lol GM Giitarhero Just need to fiddle with settings on thee amp/bass/etc Also, if you have a low quality amp that could do a number on the tone you'd like.
I attempted this tone and got something sorta close Gain - 1 Blend - 7 Bass - 3 Mids - 0 Treble - 6 Tone knob on bass - 2-ish Not perfect but it sounds close enough to me
@Kownu - BEADG is the standard for a 5-string bass. I have it tuned EADGC (tenor tuning) in this video. More common tuning for jazz bassists (and it's what the top 5 strings of a 6-string bass would be tuned to)
dude when i heard that musician usaualy are having a signature when they play i thought that yours is playing guitar solos on bass but then i said no it awesomness(btw i would love see and hear most likely for whom the bell tolls if you havent already done it)
you should try a cover with someone like this. I liked your last solo, so playing the guitar solo along with a guitarist will indeed be a hellouva sound! Your playing is DA SHIT! You rawk!! :D
This is so awesome! Im commenting on all of your vids haha but yeah dude this is so sick. All of these guitar solo covers are amazing. And maybe it's just me being OCD about tuning but you sound a bit sharp on everything??? idk
really sad to find out you dont do tabs but god dammit i had to learn it. so after 2 and a half of watching this video and checking ur finering i got it down perfect
Do you use any different strings or just uptune like crazy to get the tuning for this? I can get my bass to the tuning but it raises the action like crazy
Awesome playing. Pretty impressive.Would you mind giving me s few technical details about your Ken Lawrence? It's a neck through body maple neck? Walnut body, is it? And what are the pickups? Thanks in advance.
On this same bass, I saw you play Master Of puppets. Do you have to of the same basses that has BEADG and one that has EADGC? Or did you just tune your bass to EADGC?
Man, it`s awesome! I`ve got 4-string / 22-bar bass and tried to do it on distortion) Guess, worthy )
hi frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriend
0:28 I struggle to do that on my guitar and I've practiced it for years, but here you are on a bass. You're awesome.
i know exactly what you mean... always miss the 19th fret there lol!
he plays that solo on bass far better than I play it on fucking guitar. And he uses only fingers, not a pick. He is the fucking Lord.
One of the best bass covers i've ever see :'D
the solo is actualy realy easy to figure out by ear, great job man
Such a B-E-A-UTIFUL rendition of this piece. I wish I could do this. You make that 5 string sing!

You are a great source of inspiration thank you for being awesome
Just wow, no words to describe it.
This is art!
i wanna know how he got his bass to sound so clear. when i plug mine into my amp it sounds almost too heavy
It's fretless. Probably that's why it sounds different
AnotherGuyOnRUclips
Pretty sure that's not a fretless Lol
GM Giitarhero

Do you tried to do it without gain?
the away as you play also make it sound more clean or heavy
Amp, equo and a kinda of your bass too
I attempted this tone and got something sorta close
Gain - 1
Blend - 7
Bass - 3
Mids - 0
Treble - 6
Tone knob on bass - 2-ish
Not perfect but it sounds close enough to me
I just dont understand how someone could dislike this, VERY GOOD MAN!!!

i love that round mellow sound you got, really compliments the song well.
@Beastofmusic17 - I switch back and forth between the two tunings. This bass is currently (and in this video) in EADGC (and my Fodera is in BEADG).

dude when i heard that musician usaualy are having a signature when they play i thought that yours is playing guitar solos on bass but then i said no it awesomness(btw i would love see and hear most likely for whom the bell tolls if you havent already done it)
@BlooMunky24 - I'm not using an amp. This is just the sound of my bass plugged into my computer.
just sick
Freakin' awesome man! Keep the videos up!
That was an Amazing SOLO!!
you should try a cover with someone like this. I liked your last solo, so playing the guitar solo along with a guitarist will indeed be a hellouva sound! Your playing is DA SHIT! You rawk!! :D
you're my inspiration!
@korgrandi - Bolt-on Maple neck. Mahogany body wings with an Ash center block. Coco Bolo top. Benavente pickups and electronics.
@MrGuitaristgamer101 - They're the guitar solos. Kirk and James play them.
This is so awesome! Im commenting on all of your vids haha but yeah dude this is so sick. All of these guitar solo covers are amazing. And maybe it's just me being OCD about tuning but you sound a bit sharp on everything??? idk
i love your covers dude rock on \m/
keep'em coming :D
You have gotten a bit tighter and also more fluid since your older recordings. Nice to see :)
awesome
I don't speak very well English. So it's fabulous.Your interpretation is very good.
@ZeroVirusPly - I'm using Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Rounds. It an EADGC set.
Fantastic :D
really sad to find out you dont do tabs but god dammit i had to learn it. so after 2 and a half of watching this video and checking ur finering i got it down perfect
nathan vasquez well give us the tabs too
Awesome buddy ! one of my personal favourites :D
you can play the solos better than most regular guitarists lol nice tone and good job!
@panteralover23 - 5-string, yes. It was made by Ken Lawrence.
@Guyverhoeven - It's an actual C-string (you wouldn't be able to tune a standard set up that high).
@Daniello49 - Yep, by ear. Thanks.
@GBagley Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
@stgbld94 - Thanks. 5-string bass, tuned EADGC
@r0m3r12 - Mostly 2, for the 'usual' stuff. 3 for the faster solo stuff.
Haha awesome bass...no offence to you, but I laughed watching the bass part on the high solo notes at 6:10 lol. Great job!
@10laughungtears - I went to Cornish for a year (studying jazz, mostly), but I'm primarily self-taught.
What kind of bass is that that you're using there? I really like it, and I'm in the market for a new bass. It's a 5-string, yes?
great job !!
@GBagley thats awesome. does haveing a fifth string present an inconvinience over a four string? i may get a five string
Do you use any different strings or just uptune like crazy to get the tuning for this? I can get my bass to the tuning but it raises the action like crazy
Oh my fucking God this is amazing.
omg that solo :D
Hey, great video! I'm no bass player, but you're using a 5 string bass with thinner string instead of a thicker one?
Gustavo Loki him usa a thinner C string
yes
Zero thumbs down. Lets keep it that way, people.
with all the solos u play in ur videos, r u making them up or does cliff burton play them as well?
@ChOOzExe - I tend to just boost the bass a little if anything.
@lkfreak1234 - Thomastik Infeld Jazz Rounds. They make 6-string versions of all their bass strings.
Awesome playing. Pretty impressive.Would you mind giving me s few technical details about your Ken Lawrence?
It's a neck through body maple neck? Walnut body, is it? And what are the pickups?
Thanks in advance.
what excersizes would yhu recomend to learn to pluck a bass with four fingers?
I actually bought it used, so thankfully I didn't have to wait for it :)
you great man
Trujillo should play the first solo live on his bass :)
Awesome! For how long have you been playing the bass ?
@coltfizz - Not using an amp. Thanks!
sick tone dude.
On this same bass, I saw you play Master Of puppets. Do you have to of the same basses that has BEADG and one that has EADGC? Or did you just tune your bass to EADGC?
