    I love having you here Jill. Happy you are slowly getting your home in order. It will be sooner than you think.

      Thank you Eva! I thought I would be completely settled by now so I'm just having to adjust my expectations. The good news is that once something is done it's done. It isn't an ongoing maintenance issue!! xoxo

    It was such a nice surprise to see a Monday Musing today! I'm glad you stood your ground with the furniture company and it's really awful that they are harassing you. They are so in the wrong. I'm happy that you found pieces you love in the end. OMG, the buttons!!! I'll head over to check out your etsy shop soon. I still have several items on my Jill Maurer wish list. I'd be curious to see the closet video, too. Another option for doors is not to have any. You could hang a curtain instead. You probably want a more polished/finished look, though. Four videos this week!?! Yay! Looking forward to seeing who you're collaborating with tomorrow.

      Thank you Autumn! It felt like it was time for a Monday Musing. I considered curtains for the closet, but it the closet is on the wall opposite my bed so I would sit in bed looking at an entire wall of curtains, and I think it would feel unfinished. I'm not giving any more hints on the collab so you'll just have to be surprised!! xoxo

    Decluttering is my favorite. I have to do some more of that soon because I am also moving to combine households. So we all have to declutter. Remodeling and decluttering my husband's house, my stuff and my teenagers' things has been a challenge. I don't have nearly as many handbags and shoes as you do but I do feel like I have way too many that I haven't used in years. But it's so hard to part with them when you paid a small fortune for these designer pieces 😬 there are also a few that I dont use but still love. I cant wait to see how you handle your shoe and handbag decluttering. Its tough!

      Please keep me posted on your progress. Decluttering for myself is hard enough. You're decluttering for other people too! Combining households definitely sounds challenging! I'm interested to see how it goes with your bags!! xoxo

      Thanks Bobby! I'll likely show the antique furniture when I do my closet video. I just ordered nightstands that are not antique. Fingers crossed on those!! xoxo

    Oh, sounds still have a lot of things to do. You are so right, right now you don’t need to worry anything outside. That furniture company really sounds terrible. Great video. Thank You so much for sharing and have a great week darling ❤️

      I still have a lot to do Irene, but I will get there. Things are moving again, but it will all take time. It's definitely nice to have less to worry about!! xoxo

    Unbelievable furniture stories! You would have thought that a photo would have been taken of your sofa when it arrived at the restorer. Thank heaven it did not arrive at your home with buttons on it. That would’ve been truly dramatic. I can feel the sound of the dresser drawer scratching as you tried to open it. No decent company would give you a problem about returning it. A dresser is an extremely expensive item and I’m glad you found something to replace it. When I downsized and decluttered I did go through my purses however the shoes did not go through the process. 😀 Everything else in my home did however and it was such a feeling of lightness lifting.

      I completely agree that the furniture company is not reputable at all. Ha! I was trying to imagine what would have happened had my sofa arrived with buttons, and it would not have been pretty. You were so fortunate not to have to cull your shoes! I do agree that the decluttering process is very liberating even though it can be difficult. So nice to know someone who has gone through this and survived to tell the story! xoxo

    My hair stood on ends when you said the word "buttons" on that sofa! What buttons??? Hoping for the best when it makes it back to you... I've been an antiques collector for many years, I am so glad you chose beautiful antiques for your dressing pieces. New furniture pieces are often made of pressed cardboard and prices are really high. Monday Musings are my favorite!

    • @JillMaurer
      @JillMaurer  5 лет назад

      Ha! Gloria!! You and I had the same reaction. The piece is back, and it isn't the best work I've ever seen, but it will do fine. At the very least we can spend some time with it and decide if we want to live with it long term. Yes I just love the antique pieces. They are better made, are more beautiful, and have soul!! xoxo

    Let's hear it for the vintage/ antique kinda girls!! Wish I'd known when you were in DC. Sounds like you had a blast.

      Yes! I was only there for a brief visit, but it would be fun to do a little get together. There are others in our little group who are in and around DC I think! xoxo

    That furniture company fiasco sounds crazy. I’m glad you stood your ground. Now I’m scared as I’m looking to purchase a piece of furniture for our guest bedroom, and I hoped to purchase it online! Hope your couch didn’t turn out too bad!

      Thank you Sharon! I feel your pain on the new furniture. I didn't like it at all. The sofa came back ok. It wasn't perfect, but I'm good with it. I did order a couple of glass nightstands from Amazon, and it will be interesting to see whether I like them. They get great reviews. Good luck with your guest room!! xoxo

      Hi darling! Thank you!! So many people have told me to try Etsy, and I'm glad I finally am. I had always thought of Etsy as being for crafty items but realize now that there are all kinds of things on it. xoxo

    Hahaaa! I know who your collaboration will be with! But my lips are sealed! LOL! Never be ashamed of having First World Problems. Your problems are your own. Thank you for the video. Enjoy your week.

      Thank you Daniel! You can finally say it because the collab video is published now!! I agree with you on problems. I have had to deal with very serious challenges in my life and am in a much better place than I ever have been so I want to make sure I give thanks for that too. That said you are so right about everyone's problems being their own and we needn't compare!! xoxo

    I know what you mean about your surroundings. I feel the same. I discovered that I'm just hypersensitive to what's around me. That said, having two teens in the house right now, I've had to change my perspective and become more tunnel visioned to ignore the clutter and disarray. I think the only reason I can do that is because I know we'll be empty nesters in a few years and I can gain total control again.

    • @JillMaurer

      Good plan Mandi! My experience was different. My elder son is low functioning autistic so he had pretty simple requirements for what he wanted around him. Mitchell is a minimalist at heart. Looking at his bedroom you wouldn't necessarily be sure he lives there. He was always that way. xoxo

      @@JillMaurer That's very interesting. My two are opposites. My son doesn't need much, pretty much just baseball and xbox, lol! But my daughter is a collector, of just all kinds of things. But somehow both of the rooms stay trashed, ugh! I pick my battles 🤪🤪🤪

    Oh my goodness, I would have flipped out at the couch guy and the furniture company! You seem like someone who is calmly stern though haha. Hmm I'll have to ask which furniture company that is when I buy my new house so I know who to avoid...

    I've ordered many pieces of furniture in my life and have only had one problem. A bedroom chest had light distressing which did not show up in the catalog photo and was not mentioned in the description. I dislike distressing on new furniture and was a little upset. The company was great about it but the funny thing is, I ended up keeping the chest because I liked it so much otherwise. All the delivery crews that have come into my home have been wonderful and careful too. I am a little confused about the sofa because I looked up a new Florence Knoll sofa online and there were several new ones that definitely looked like they had button tufting on the back. Did the design come either with or without buttons?

    • @JillMaurer
      @JillMaurer  5 лет назад

      Interesting that you kept the piece, and I'm glad you ended up loving it. I just looked up the Florence Knoll couch, and you are right! It looks like the leather sofas have buttons on the back. The fabric sofas don't. He had put them on the back and the seat on my fabric sofa. I think he also had them tufted a lot more. I didn't get any fabric back and had given him 1.5 times what he originally requested so I'm pretty sure he redid it. xoxo

    I share your furniture pain as I purchased two chairs from a major manufacturer. Well, the toxic chemical odor coming from those chairs was awful - sickening - terrible. They got sent back and the room they were in, is being “aired out”! Two more chairs from a different company will be delivered this week.

    • @JillMaurer
      @JillMaurer  5 лет назад

      Oh that sounds terrible Ann! I'm sure those chairs were quite unhealthy, and I'm glad you stood your ground and had them removed. Hopefully your new chairs will be perfection!! xoxo
