Garp threw kuzan into the ground so that he could buy time to get koby and escape, there is no way garp can beat kuzan in a 1v1 prolonged fight and let's say he could it would take several days, he needs to stall kuzan for as long as he can. Garp is not playing, kuzan is holding back clearly that's the narrative of this fight. Also garp used a named armament conquerors haki attack and created a massive crater, he clearly trying to get rid of kuzan as fast as possible.

Kuzan is currently fighting Garp at a "low level" because Garp used to be his teacher or mentor. Kuzan didn't even come close to using Haki in the current fight. Don't forget that Kuzan fought against Akainu for 10 days straight. So if he really got serious, Garp in his current form would definitely be inferior to him. Guys, wait for the next episodes as you will see how the second part of the fight continues. Don't underestimate Kuzan. I am a manga reader.
