A pirate steals.... A smuggler, moves contraband, to people that want to buy it. The smuggler could have legally purchased, legal items, but they are illegal in another town, and he must smuggle them in. So arbitrarily let's say apples were illegal, in a certain town. If people were willing to pay a lot of money, a smuggler could bring in apples. However he stole nothing
There is a huge difference between a pirate and a smuggler. A smuggler transports illegal goods. A pirate uses violence and murder to steal goods and likely steal them from a smuggler just as quickly as from legitimate trade.
@@robtintelnot9107 You can be both. I was just pointing out that there usually is a difference. Pirates generally are more bloodthirsty though and less interested in transporting goods while being more interested in stealing them.
The Hound isn't good or bad. He's certainly not evil like some people on this show. He's the ultimate pragmatist and along wiht Arya and Tyrion one of my favourite characters. Also because those three consistently get the best lines. 😉
The Hound has good impulses which his world has taught him must be suppressed, except on rare occasions, for the sake of survival. As he says after his injury, his cynicism is rooted in experience.
The soldier that came out yelling insults and urinated, was actually yelling the insults from the French soldier in “Monty Python and The Holy Grail” “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries” and so on. 🤣🤣🙂🙂
The patronizing way in which Tywin said "categorically" should leave no doubt in anyone's mind that he was well aware of what his men were doing after the Fall of King's Landing. This isn't a situation of ambiguity where you have to wonder if the General knew about the war crimes. This is more like you have to catch the obvious visual and verbal cue. And ofcoure from the lores we kniw definitvely that not only did Tywin know, he personally ordered the murders of Prince Rhaegar's wife and children.
The scene with Jaime and Cersei ...somehow the showrunners didn't mean for this to be a non-consensual scene, so it feels like a terrible step back in his redemption arc and is never addressed. How they missed that it was non- consensual...is worrisome.
It was frustrating having to wait but that's what made the show such a cultural staple at the time. I had never had as many conversations with friends and family about a show prior to Game of Thrones. Haven't since either.
A lot of fans came round to Jamie after the "my name is Jamie" scene with Brienne. The world hadn't been fair to him so people began to empathise, overlooking the objectively hideous things Jamie did, even for GoT standards.
I hate that people in these comments are basically forcing you to like a character. Everyone are not supposed to feel the same way about Jaime or anyone else in this show. It’s not all black and white. All the characters has their flaws, for better or worse and you can’t expect people to go according to your standards or whatever. George R.R Martin did not write the books for everyone to sit on the same boat and ship the same characters. He have been telling us this since the beginning. 🙄 It’s ridiculous that ya’ll in here solely waiting on him to think the way you are thinking. It’s annoying
If he didn’t like other similar characters it wouldn’t rub people the wrong way as much. It’s the fact that he’s inconsistent with his judgement. The Hound does horrible things. He also does good things. “He’s grey.” Jamie does horrible things. He also does good things. “Where’s the grey?”
Lmao. Bro really leaned into previous comments. Jamie rescues Brienne, *crickets*, but The Hound basically robbing & stranding these innocent people to die is a grey character moment.
Why do people need to believe that? Because the actor is handsome and charming? Ted Bundy was considered handsome and charming too - and the whole time he was doing terrible things.
I really have to admit that your style has grown on me. It is very enjoyable watching you try to puzzle things out no matter if you end up being wrong or right. Also, I love how you apply your life experiences to the situations in the show. When you finish this series, I have another suggestion for you. "Hannibal." It's a very complex phycological thriller based on the "Silence of the Lambs" movie. It was on NBC a few years ago and it will make you think even more than Silence of the Lambs did. And it is also one of the most gory things you will ever see. Especially for regular tv. I only recommend this show to reactors that really like to think things through and puzzle them out. At the very least, do some research on it to see if it interests you. Oh as I mentioned before, the actor playing Tomlin, the new king. previously played one of the Lannister boys murdered by the Kar=Starks. You asked where's the gray area with Jamie being rapy with Cerise. Well, do you feel a little bad for her now?
That scene between Cersei & Jaime... did not come across as intended. The producers had to apologize. In the books, Cersei is saying "no", but obviously luring him in and wanting it. It was not meant to be that he really forced himself on her.
Obviously? It's anything but obvious. The first thing you, and every other person in these comments talking about how it was not rape in the books need to do is go back and actually read the passage. The very first thing you'll notice is: it's a freakin' JAIME chapter. It's from his perspective, of course he told himself she wanted it.
The larger picture: No one is perfect,. Jamie isn't an intellectual. He's also dyslexic. He was born handsome, rich, and with the right name, He's a bit of a jock and easily influenced by those around him. Were it not for his name and sword skills, he'd be another Ser Dontos. His own family mocks and takes advantage of him throughout the entire series. Brienne brings out the best in Jamie. Cersei encourages Jamie's worse traits.
I'll join with others in pointing out that this was an unforgiveable production error. Although it happened (sort of) in the books it was, eventually, consensual. It was poorly filmed and scripted and what was worse, the producers sat back, looked at it and said it was fine. Tin-eared idiots. I appreciate you wouldn't know that, but even so, as a logical person you shouldn't never think of fellow humans in absolutes. By the way, I find it funny when people say 'Baelish might have played a part in it' when he just said he did to Sansa right off the bat. The correct question is, who did he conspire with?
the kid who played the child king did suuuuch a great job, we all hated his character so much and much of that is his acting talents, i see him going far if he chooses to stick with it...
He actually quit because of all the hate for his character. It's a shame because all the interview i've ever seen with him and other people has them saying that he's a good and kind person which makes his acting all the more poignant.
Jamie is definitely a grey character lol. He does a lot of bad shit, but he also saved the entire population of King's Landing, saved Brienne's life, and is one of the few people that doesn't judge Tyrion for being a dwarf.
A pirate may, occasionally, engage in smuggling. But a professional smuggler ALWAYS stays "under the radar". And most importantly, a pirate is almost always violent or at least uses the threat of imminent violence. A smuggler wishes to be peacefully invisible while moving his goods.
The grey area with Jaime is that he is the only person in the world who ever loved and accepted his brother. Surely, this has to suggest that there is something good in him.
@@Kayjee17 That is a really weird comparison to make. Was Ilsa also a dwarf or disfigured in some way that made her shunned by all of society?
