Tywin’s speech to Tommen is epic. The man doesn’t waste time.
Imo tywin needed to before cersei filled his head with ideas about his "rights" as king rather than his resposibilities as king.

Tyrion asks why then the Mountain killed her and Tywin replies, "Because I did not tell him to spare her, I didn't think about her at all. I was more concerned with what Ayres might do with Jaime."

So bad that if I remember correctly, the Showrunners had to release a statement and it came down to poor Directing, not what we as viewers actually thought happened. Thank the Gods
It’s a scene that happens in the book but it’s definitely consensual from how it reads in that chapter. I hated how they depicted it in the show.
That seems disingenuous on the part of the show runners. Like they were just trying to save face. It’s not ambiguous what happens in the show.

@@frankvedyes. Because Jaime just returns to kings landing and she’s missed him. Jaime was never at Joffreys wedding in the books. He returns to kings landing when Cersei is at her lowest moment and they sexually embrace…in front of their sons dead body. Still fucked up, but not what the show portrays. She wants it in the books.

Gilly really is safer there. That's a place where women are taken care of, because they are merchandise. Castle Black is definitely no place for a woman. It's not just death that women are afraid of. And, of course the key here is safer. Not safe, but safer.

Okay so the showrunners intended for that Jamie/Cersei scene to come off as consensual. Obviously they did a terrible job, but they thought they'd accurately portrayed the scene as it went down in the books. In the book, Jamie certainly started it and Cersei initially said no, but her "no" was just "no, someone might see us" and like two seconds later she decides she doesn't care if they get caught either and very explicitly consents. So despite this really terrible thing Jamie did, the show didn't mean for us to feel that way. I think most people mentally replace that scene with a consensual one and use that in their judgment of Jamie going forward. Because the Jamie we know wouldn't do that and Book Jamie sure as hell wouldn't either.
The creators seemed to favor “ rapiness” quite a bit.
The fact that Emilia Clarke almost died twice from brain aneurysms while filming Game of Thrones, and she said she would recite her valyrian and dothraki lines from the show to keep her brain active and working while it was happening. Daenerys literally helped save her life.

I love that you guys are watching without spoilers, but you need to realize that EVERY single word and action is specific to know why ANYTHING and everything happens. I watched it like you, and was so lost to perticular important, very important things that are spoken, like about the past. I beg you...PLease, for the love of appreciating this story, PLEASE watch the History and Lore of Game of Thrones. It explains so much! Like the origins of the families, magic, the Walkers..etc. old Nan's stories are extremely important! Why Oberyn was so passionate about making The Mountain say his sister's name. The reason is because the Mountain was told by Tyrian to execute his sister and her children. You will not follow the rest of the seasons if you do not have knowledge of the past! I can't wait to see your reactions to the rest of the seasons. Don't listen to anyone about season 8..it is absolutely incredible..especially when you have the knowledge the past..TRUST ME! One more thing..please keep EVERYTHING you have seen AND heard since the opening credits at the front of your mind..everything!

@@tywinderbaum5283I mean you just have to put two and two together. Sansa gets the necklace from the fool. We are shown that the fool was paid by Littlefinger. We then see Littlefinger talk about having „new friends who want Joffrey dead“, then we are shown the Tyrell’s right after. Then Olenna basically confessed to Marg that she did it.
@@a.j.1819 yeah, and Olenna does a lot of fiddling with necklaces those episodes. Good enough for me, tbh, I don't like everything being explained to me word by word, I prefer this approach even if that means I don't catch it on the first go around and I like the joy that comes from figuring it out (although I get and respect different preferences of course)
It’s interesting to see how you hate Jaimie then like him then hate him then like him.. it was obvious in the show but even more so in the books. You keep hoping that he will just keep on that good path but he just has that weak spot for his sister
Don’t be so hard on Sam… it may not always seem it but he is doing what he feels best & most often he is right. Sam is important.

Honestly, it's kinda sweet that you guys don't know who comes next in a monarchy.
It's always the next male in the family. Robert was replaced by his eldest son Joffrey, who is replaced by the next eldest son Thommen. If Joffrey had sons, it would go to them instead. It's called "male primogeniture", and it's how monarchy is still done today. It's always the next male relative.
Except in England, where the queen, before her death, ended the gender based line of succession, but due to the timing, it won't effect William's daughter, she is still behind her little brother in the line of succession.
@@Sapphires_And_Dreams Yes, England is an exception. They do absolute primogeniture, and have done since the heady old days of 2011, as you rightly point out. Also Belgium, Netherlands, and Denmark. But it's a very recent state of affairs for all of them, and the current generations are all still under male primogeniture.
There's also agnatic primogeniture in Japan, which a bit more confusing, and what they do in Saudi Arabia is very weird (all the sons of the first king have ruled in order after him).
