Wonderful information, as usual.
The reason I would / have cast circle is a little different than what you presented. For me it is to create a space that is between the worlds, beyond the bounds of time, a place where everything exists and nothing exists; a space where only that which you bring with you exists, where magick is more easily manifested. While casting circle I would / have evoked spirits to guard or protect those individuals that occupied the circle with me so it that sense it would also serve as a container to keep unwanted energies and entities out, but the main reason is create that liminal space.
Ah yes, I completely forgot about liminal space! I forgot that's a thing that people do 😆 Thank you for reminding me. I have never used a circle in this way but I know many people do! Do you still call quarters nowadays?
I do call quarters when I cast circle, but it is in a less formal or ceremonial way.
Because I can't visualise, I tend to use smoke and cleanse the space I'm using, like I'm cleaning my space as I ask for protection for whatever work I'm doing in that space. I ask any deities, ancestors, etc to help protect me as I work. Sometimes I will use water, using a twig to sprinkle it around my area to work. Sometimes I sprinkle salt around the area I'm working to draw a circle. I sometimes will use a crystals in the corners of my room to create the bounderies. I find I need to have something tangible instead of the usual visualisation methods. I also rely on protection wards, etc to protect my living space. And that helps me feel safe as I do mundane and small magics in my home. I'm not into ceremonial magic, most of what I do is kitchen and hearth magic anyways, green magic, etc. I don't use a circle to stir magic into food, etc. I would use cleansing methods of protection for these activities, something I incorperate into mundane house cleaning anyways.
That's perfect!! A salt circle is extremely powerful and so is smoke cleansing, using water, etc.! The visualization methods aren't for everyone and I love how you've found some methods that work well for you. 🖤🖤 Having psychical representations are just as important!
I wish I had a printout of your method! finally a simple way to do that. it's going to be super helpful in a small bedroom (such as mine), where you physically have no way of creating a "traditional" circle. thank you for your video

Typically when I cast a circle, I use my staff to draw a circle in the air (three times). I visualise the circle emitting light and energy. Then I grab it, pull it around me and put it on the ground. And that's it!

I call on the Elements. I always work east first cause thats where the sun rises.
Quite often I walk around my circle 3 times and cast salt around my dining room. Singing, chanting
Just whatever comes to mind depends on the spell.
I also take my bell and ring it.
I tend to have to leave my circle sometimes, do the door.
When closing I give thanks to all Elements gratitude and offer chocolate lol. Good excuse to always have chocolate in the house.

I love that you cast salt around your dining room! That feels so authentically witchy to me. I also love how you do whatever comes to mind for you in the moment... I love your necklace. Some people say that a circle is liminal through out space and time, I kind of see it a little but I just don't see it 100%. I recently bought wooden platonic solids, I painted them the traditional platonic colors but they're not enchanted yet but one of my ideas on how to use them is to cast a circle. I would place earth in South, water in west, air in North and fire in East (the directions is from traditional witchcraft) then place the Ether solid next or infront of me. I could also use them to create a pentacle circle including the ether at the top, North top left, East top right, South bottom right and West bottom left. I bought a trident earlier this year for a devotion to Poseidon, I've only used it a couple of times but when I do/ did I used the pointed part to draw a circle. Even though Poseidon and the trident are well known to be connected to water, but not a lot of people know that Poseidon and the trident are connected to the earth. So that's why I use the trident to mark out a circle. I have visualised a watery bubble when I have used the trident, I also did ask for Poseidon to help with protection too. Another great video.

It will depend on the situation if I'll cast a circle or not. The more serious the working, the more likely I'll cast a circle. The type of circle also depends on what might be needed. I do a sphere of golden light as well if the working/ritual doesn't require anything special. Otherwise I'm calling in deity to balance the energy and to keep anything unwanted out.
How I form the sphere is interesting... It comes from my time when I was taking Reiki classes. I was asked to connect with my "core" and draw out this "Divine energy". I ended up connecting to the Sephirah Binah at that moment. I was seeing a endless smooth golden ocean with crimson sky. I watched the ocean come to Iive and out of the waves came this golden disk. This disk than filled my whole being with I than push out to creat a circle or to draw energy from. That's how I've been doing circles since than.

@@IvyTheOccultist It was quite a special moment. It just felt like time stopped. The room I was in fall away. I believe there is a lot more way we can connect with in the tree of life than currently known to us. But it's good to be careful while trying things out. I did a lot of grounding after that experience as I was constantly in a kind of 'floating' state. Great if you want to slip into a trance but not so great if you're trying to clean the dishes. 😂

I'm not comfortable invoking or working with any kind of spirits or guides of any kind. What would you suggest as an alternative to invoking while casting a circle?
You definitely don't have to invoke anything if you don't want to ☺️ If you practice the method of forming a sphere of energy in the center of your being - and then gradually expanding it outward to fill the entire room - then you won't need to work with any kind of spirits. Hope that helps!
