The fact Bethesda didn’t let us just forcefully clip things into each other and the ground like foundations do is just dumb lol
What's even more ridiculous is that they OBVIOUSLY didn't have the same limitations when designing the game world. There are so many things in the game that would simply not be possible to build in a settlement. Like the raider camps with perfectly snapped fences.
That's because they build games with an "it's good enough" mindset instead of being thorough with the programming. They really need to take notes from Halo Reach's Forge mode or maybe Halo 5 at most. It doesn't have to be insanely in depth like Infinite's Forge, but at least give the players a good build feature that doesn't force us to use time consuming exploits.
The ability to remove trash and shrubbery would help too.
Did you ever stop to think that this is purposeful? Maybe they made it where we couldnt clip and left the glitches in so we could figure it out ourselves.
That first tip is one of the best tips I've ever heard thank you 🙏🏼
Your rug tip is a literal game changer.
Ashtrays are a good glitching tool as well. Also, one nice thing that you can do is make a metal scaffolding frame, and then place a wooden scaffolding floor piece on the ground. Build a turret on top of the floor piece, then you can snap the floor piece to the metal frame, and avoid the building collision physics. I like to make the turret platform snap so that turret just peaks over a junk wall. You can also snap more metal scaffolding frames vertically( I like taking a 1x1 tall frame, and stacking one or two small 1x1 frames on top. Then make add a turret/floor for each. I will also mix the turret types later on in levels. Having a heavy laser turret on top of two missile turrets is really fun, and the laser will show you where the enemy is, especially in the dark. The RUclipsr SarDeliac has quite a number of fun building videos.
On your second "Wire trick" if you had stored the new wire you would find that the light still has power and you can place it where ever you want in the settlement. I have all of my generators encased in concrete and no wires in my settlements. This is commonly referred to as the "WiFi glitch".
I love that rug placement strategy! So easy and allows so much more freedom of placement
Rug glitch must have been patched on Xbox I can't get it to work.
@@justinthompson5190same on PlayStation , maybe the new update ? :(
My man! Haven't played F4 since near release. Opened my old world and saw I was obviously exploiting glitches majorly for my base l. Wanted to continue it but was max and couldn't remember any of the methods I would have used. This video was a major help. Now I just need to relearn thr rest of the game haha
Great tips. I would only add one detail that storing weapons that have a lot of mods on them, moves the bar dramatically more. Once I have enough wealth, I just keep a stock of 20 or so weapons with long names (because lots of mods) for this purpose. They don't stack, which is less convenient, but they work so much better. In a pinch you can even just drop your own weapons you carry, and put them back on.
The campfire glitch is new to me, so thanks for that tip.
Nice tutorial, clean, clear and to the point. Well done. I'll add just one thing here, that being the rug & pillar *techniques* aren't glitches. Glitch denotes a kind of malfunction. There's no malfunction with the rug or pillar. These are just you or I making use of the innate properties of those build pieces. Note that tables, shelving, certain ladders as well as other items in the workshop also have those same properties. I doubt even the word exploit is correct but it fits better than glitch. They are simply building techniques.
At any rate I look forward to seeing more of your stuff. Always like checking out new builds and the ideas and creativity of others.
Great tips. One golden rule I use when playing any Bethesda game is ABS Always Be Saving 😅
Another update coming Monday May 13th.
I just wished there's a bird's eye view option and even grids
The ashtray is a good idea for the pillar glitch if you don’t want it to drop. I play modded with the qwapa post. Best build mod
Seems like those have been patched in the latest update
GOLD ! Thanks for sharing, man ;)
Simplifies A LOT of things from other videos
Wow....awesome info.. I never knew all those little glitches! thank you for sharing!😁👍
Some great tips there. Very useful - thank you,
Great video! One thing, be careful with that wire glitch. I use mods that make things wireless, so its been a while, but I remember reading about how the wire glitch breaks your save from the very first time you use it. It won't crash your game immediately, but over time the corrupted save will crash, and once you've done it on that save, it won't matter if you scrap everything that has been wire glitched, the corruption is already there.
I hope this is a haha cause now I'm spooked
I imagine if you are playing on console that there will be some differences, but I've been utilising all of the glitches here, and many more besides, on PC, and never had a problem with a corrupt save file. The only thing I know that will cause problems down the line, is using the exploit to artificially lower your build limit by storing dropped weapons, and only if you over do it, I only lower the build limit once, and only enough to place what I was trying to build, usually only at the Castle, because by the time you've finished repairing the walls, adding the shops, furniture etc, there isn't a lot of space left for defenses. Corrupt save files are almost exclusively caused by mods, usually ones that mess around with the meshes and precombines, Scrap All and Scrap Everything spring to mind, but there are lots of others too, it's not the mods themselves that cause the problem, it's the people who use them and don't understand what they are actually doing to the game, and who tend to go crazy by scrapping things that should not be scrapped.
This old house 2287.
great video full of usefull tips, thanks for video!
Thank you for the tips. I never really understood the settlement feature but i did want to at least get one to 100% happiness for a trophy. lol
That's pretty easy to get, I used Hangmans Alley with just 3 settlers, 1 farmer, 1 Doctor, 1 Barman, with both the agility and strength boosting furniture items, 'cos they also increase happiness. The more settlers there are in a settlement, the harder it is to get that achievement.
@@wolfen210959 thanks i'll try that.
Dude out of all of my games and I have a million gamerscore I enjoy the hell out of fall out 4
3 and a half size limit increase and fairly stable.
Use the gamma gun for the SSG, something to do with pixels and layers.... Stuff I don't know about, anyway they take up a lot of on screen space/memory? so they bring that bar down really quickly. Do 20 guns and half the bar is gone 👍🏻
Can you put a foundation block on the rugs they are huge and the annoying bushes in sanctuary are making my mega wall unable to go all the way around thanks.
Hello, I hope u can answer this. Let's say you build 4 floors, and now I want to build walls around it(2x2). a lot of times at 1 of the corners it will not snap and just try to go straight. instead of a 90 degrees corner, its really annoying then I remove all walls and try again and hope for RNG to snap. I cant figure out the logic. any tips?
Have you tried the rug glitch shown in the video and just try really hard to line the wall up?
Simply change the position of your character, or put a roof in to give it 2 places to snap to, or press the button to rotate the wall, any one of these tricks will work.
@@dmstites80 The rug glitch is not needed for this, he just wants a snappable object to naturally snap to what it is supposed to. Simply pressing the rotate button will often solve the problem, or just moving the character slightly.

Where did you find (or how did you unlock) that *"Diner Wooden Floor"* ?
It's DLC. If you like the building I think the season pass is worth it. Each of the 6 DLCs have some objects. But 3 of them are heavily focused on the workshop. Vault, Contraptions, and Wasteland Workshop are worth a look.
@@MoveTheMouse
I don't have the season pass, but I bought all the DLCs, but "creations".
Is it maybe in that one?
@@BETMARKonTube Definitely Creation Club content, not DLC.
@@wolfen210959 thank you.
Too bad for me, then.
Imagine having to be aware of which pieces glitch out other pieces so that you can place things where you want to, instead of pieces just being able to be placed where you want them.
I'm playing on the PS5, around level 11 in survival mode. However, I can't access items like concrete walls etc. Is that something that comes along later on?
That might be DLC. The season pass is great if you're enjoying the building.
Some other items show up once you've done certain things in game. Keep an eye out for "Picket Fences" magazines as these unlock buildings as well.
It’s either DLC stuff you haven’t bought, or it’s something you’ll unlock when you collect the required Picket Fences magazine. There’s guides for all locations of said magazines.
@@MoveTheMouse Great tips, thank you.
@@stanettiels7367 Good to know, thanks.
@@raedjibrail5565
No worries, brother.
How do you unlock the concrete options to build? Mine has none
It's one of the Workshop DLCs.
It’s so annoying trying to snap or fit stuff and it just won’t go
i can follow this step by step and no item i set on the stacked mats will attach and allow me to move it along with the rug
Try the default junk fences. They're one of the most commonly used objects for that glitch.
The rug glitch does NOT work with any piece that snaps to another.
I absolutely HATE that you can't snap things together, and there is no grid system for precise distances. I want perfect symmetry sometimes, and it drives me insane trying to do that without measuring where I'm putting things.
How do you group objects on Xbox x
Hold A instead of just pressing it when you pick something up.
@@MoveTheMouse thanks
I've always wished Bethesda didn't make them snap together
You sound similar to School Zone in voice
The amount of time ive spent trying to get those junk fences close to eachother 😂 really wish you could scrap the stupid ugly bushes that stop building in sanctuary
There's a mod that will allow you to get rid of them. Brute force scrapper
@LifeAccordingToMatt yeah I've heard of that. I'm worried mods will mess up my game though and I'm like 50 hours in now 😂
Me when building in Fallout 4 😮
Me when the items turn red, eliminating half the utility 😢
Use mods if you can, especially scrap everything and place anywhere. I can't stress how miserable building without these is, especially when you want to build complex machinery or housing units.
I love Fallout 4 and think it's an incredibly underrated franchise title, but trying to accomplish anything with the base game settlement building system is one of the worst and most infuriating experiences I've ever had playing a videogame.
Be careful of how you use scrap everything, it will break your game by allowing you to scrap things that should not be scrapped. Some of the debris is a part of the game code in such a way that removing it will cause problems with meshes and precombines, and that will bork your save.
Noice! Thank you! Will be using these!
This was already covered by the Skooled Zone (and in more detail)
Thanks?
@@MoveTheMouse all quality tricks to know, thanks! Should check out the Skooled Zone video on wireless power, saves from having to run wires around and clip them through walls.
If this was by Skooled Zone, it would be a 45 minute video with 7 minutes of talking before he starts, instead of getting straight to it like this one.
Having things explained by different people at different times who have potentially different audiences is all valuable and helpful. These tools aren't and shouldn't be limited to specific creators who may or may not have explained it first.
If I was able to delete everything I'd probbly play this game for a few years even with new dlc that comes out😂 so far we only got far harbor and nuke world😂
Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Contraptions, Vault Tec, are the ones you're missing.
@@wolfen210959 I have those dlcs
The gliches are not working for me anymore not xbox nor pc and even easy building has become a nightmare and the game is more buggy..... i just deleted the game. It is so hard to understand why the did this.
I can confirm they are working, Just used them not more than 10 minutes ago on Series X on the latest update.
Pro tip get a pc because console commands give you more options
Pro tip, people play on console too. I have a PC and am well aware of the differences in platforms. I create console focused content primarily.
I wish I could delete everything on the map😊
You can, there is a mod that allows you to scrap anything you want to, but it'll break your game, because it allows you to delete the "floor" of the game, which is not a good thing.
Not working for next gen 😢
This is recorded on Next Gen Update. Latest update on Xbox Series X.
If you're trying the rug glitch it only works with non snappable items.
Got yaaaaaa
