@danthompsett2894 sadly, we're at the point stuff of that era is starting to get more of a premium online; deals locally of course, but then you more or less settle with what you can find.
DDR3...Some ASUS H81, B85 are black with yellow accents, support DDR3, but it's 4th gen Intel, so only i7 maybe would do some decent gaming nowadays with that GPU. H81 is pcie 2.0 - that's bad but worth of trying maybe, so probably some ASUS B85... anyways it's one or two "Google" away from finding black mobo with yellow accents, various vendors made them in the past. ASUS TUF Z390-Plus Gaming is black with yellow accents but it's DDR4 and is very expensive imo
I forgot all about the I had one of those 7970s forever ago, before that was a 5870, before that 4870, 3870 and my very first GPU: x1650 Pro way back in 2007 (I think). Those 7970s were pretty good. I either had a Phenom 955 of an FX 8350 with it. Ah, the good ol Days of not knowing much about PCs and being bad at optimizing.
It would be nice to know the temps before and after repaste, on this old(er) cards. Sapphire Toxic, MSI Lighting and and Evga Fatality, are on my wishlist, never owned any of them in their time. EDIT: After you install those Mushkin kits, you really need to play the STALKER trilogy on it ;)
15:50 Z77 MPower or Z77 OC Formula will keep you era correct with HD 7970 as well as match thematically. also enjoy OC'ing that era of hardware. there is actual meaningful scaling unlike today's hardware.
Very cool card, and clearly designed with Liquid Nitrogen cooling in mind with the LN2 Bios switch, may need a different program than Afterburner to unlock more overclocking settings like EVGA Precision X1, and yes it does work with any brand gpu not just EVGA. Bright Yellow accented motherboard, maybe a Lan Party Board, arent that many Yellow accented boards out there.
older Hd series card do not overclock the same as cards the last 5 years....or so.... i miss these crazy cards ( i never had one ) but id love to see GPUs like this comeback
How about a black and yellow ASRock Z97 OC Formula, lots of yellow accents. Socket LGA1150, DDR3 up to 32gb, 4x memory slots, 4x graphics slots, lots of high end i7 or Xeon cpu's supported.
These cards & that RAM kit together make good Windows 7 gaming pcs. Which are starting to be a thing since there are non DRM versions of games. The 1060 FE edition I picked up last week is on my do I want too keep it because 10 series in that one generation that is amazing. I already have a 1070 & 1050 ti so I might collect them all so I have them. Since this year seems to be the year Nvidia is attempting to kill the 10 and some of the 20 series so people buy the new 50 series. With the newer games requiring RT and DLSS which doesn't help when many of the new games are so poorly optimized and buggy.
Lovely card, just a pity msi never kept the best cores for these models like companies like gigabyte did with their soc models. At least with the gigabyte soc range you got top notch gpu cores. Found the msi cards really lacking any decent oc potential.
I might send you some mail here at some point, but not sure when. I've got an assortment of parts that you might be interested in. I just need to find time to go through it all and I'll give a list in the message I send. No promises, I need to remember and it'll take a bit of time to collect it all into one spot ;)
@@DLMtechgarage No trouble, I've got the email saved and a note to get the parts together on my PC desktop. Just gotta find the time to get it all together. Take care- love the channel :D
That sudden flash of them golden grills got me laughing up a storm 4:05
nice
Haven't seen that card before. I like it! Great content, keep it up.
would make for a great retro gaming rig vid
Tahiti Flavor! Just add some RGB
and it will boost performance!
lol that's a good one
You need to enable the voltage control from Afterburner's options.
ASRock Z97 OC Formula looks awesome i had a Z77 ASUS Sabertooth mobo awhile back and feel that would look great too!
AsRock board looks perfect just not sure on the price tag google search kicked up £75-£110

OR.
An 2011 motherboard, you probably can find 'em in the fitting colour scheme, and cheap.

ha ha yea....... crazy how much I have learned and looking back
Nice, this is on im after for my collection. Thanks for the tear down, was curious to see wth that plastic bubble actually was ... now I know. Cheers
look into X79 systems, would be a good system to pair it with and have as much performance as possible to go with it
yeah there might be a bright yellow X79 or X99 board on aliexpress that isnt to pricey.
nope, shame the blue wouldve been easy, loads of blue accented early MSI boards out there that would be in the £20-£40 mark.

that would be sick!!
I have that card but it's a GTX 680. Now with the GTX 680 version that little CAP card comes right off with no extra connector.
Black and yellow motherboard still sold on Amazon: MSI Z97 MPOWER Max AC - LGA 1150
13:06 these cards as well as all cards cores tend to degrade over time so their OC thresholds tend to decrease
hello, if it was me it´s a keeper, but i´m just nostalgic!
New sub just commenting for Al Gore's Rythm.

I have been trying to hunt that board down, just to pricey the ones I have found.
Yeah, ALWAYS wanted the Lightning version.
Doesn't matter,which one.

The only thing missing is a msi Z87 MPower Max mobo (black and yellow) and custom cables to match.👌
I just looked up that motherboard and it would look amazing in a build!!
15:39 You Should Checkout MSI Mpower Motherboard Which Has Yellow Accent

4th gen MSI Z87 MPOWER max ac .
I think MSI has Black and Yellow DDR3 motherboards under the Mpower Max line.
Changing settings mid test is whats causing the crash.....
Ln2 is for liquid nitrogen
YELLOW boards on TEMU !!!!!!
also just google yellow parts
Yeap, it's (the switch IS for oc).
And you CAN flashmod it into R9 280X.
But, you have to find an exact firmware for it.

Showing as a R9 290 on the screen just proves how AMD just revised their GPUs for years while using the same card.
2 x 8 pin

Isn’t LN2 for liquid nitrogen lol
Noooo, check if it works first, then open it after.
