Hi Norm, Wishing you all the "very" best. We've followed your adventures 4 a long time, liked but never got around 2 comment. Your vid's r very easy 2 watch with "great" content. We've learned from your advice. "Thanks so much". Hubby's lifelong dream was already in the pipeline, (gee wizz,it was a longggggg pipeline)🙃. There were lots of boats out there where owners had a very inflated opinion on what they were selling & it's true worth. We ended up with a 12metre sailing cat. She is aged but has good bones & is a beauty. We spent most of our time off getting her back 2 seaworthy, met an absolutely "AMAZING" trainer(we have lifelong experience in power boats,not yachts). We sailed, now she's in drydock 4 the northern cyclone season. You certainly have inspired us to "get out there Norm"😊& info gained will b used as "trusted" advice. Hey Norm. I love the video's and have been watching for some time. I'm local to the Keppel coast and islands. Just a heads up on anchoring at Conical. You're spot on, it is a surprisingly good anchorage in anything from NE around to SE to about 15kts. A word of caution though, it is notorious for boats dragging anchor if the breeze picks up, say 20-25kts. The good thing is you just drag out into deeper water. The bottom is very course sand and coral rubble. Lots of chain and an anchor rode weight seem to take care of most problems. Humpy Is, Miall Is and the very eastern end of Long beach (not so much) are the same i.e. very course sand. The other alternative for anchoring in any of these areas is to use an Admiralty pattern anchor. They seem to dig down through the course sand and get a better grip on the bottom. Have a good Christmas Norm. Hopefully Santa will bring you a new dinghy!
Bloody my neck of the woods😂. Crio isant to bad for fishing but not real good for stay for a few nights. I love north kepple. Northen side or GKI is better then the Southen. Yell out if you want a boat buddy haha😂
Not much further north than here to be pretty safe, but the bloody things are around here sometimes too. Feel pretty good out on the islands this far south, but not in the rivers. The problem needs fixing.
It helps. Depending on wind strength/direction about the same as 1 motor and the motion is lots better. You'd buy a lot of diesel for what it cost, but I wouldn't be without it.

Jeez Norm I'm busting a gut to get rid of my house and get on the water. But there is so much shit to sort out . All i can do is head down and arse up and hopefully it will eventuate way before the end of next year. I fear I am running out of time. Getting old can really suck sometimes.
