Hey Valentina, I found your videos when I was searching for vocal mixing tutorials, but once you play your originals, first thing I did was searching your name in music. Your songs are mind blowing. Keep up the good work. Huge shoutout from Sri Lanka ❤️
I found this super clear and concise! Thank you so much for helping me make sense of doing exactly this. I just learned about it recently but no one was giving the specifics, so now I feel like I really get it and I can utilize this important EQ tool :D
This is indeed a great step to do when mixing vocals, but there is a solution to this and it all comes down to a treated room or a vocal booth, When we record vocals in a not so good environment the vocals will have those problematic frequencies, But if you put acoustic panels or make a vocal booth you will get a much better sound and you would not have to over process the vocals as much to make them sound good. I still have to over process my vocal recordings due to a poor treated room, But I'm working on the acoustic panels. Do not buy foam and please do not buy the expensive bundles that some companies have. When the whole Corona virus thing is over, Go to your local Home Depot or hardware store and ask for Owen Corning or Rockwool, buy wood as needed and fabric, you will invest less in this than getting acoustic foam or the Prime Acoustic Panels. And you will have a treated room for recording and mixing.
I need a "recording drums/beats from scratch for dummies" video pls!!! you are amazing and the only person I actually understand when it comes to the recording process 😅
You are by far my favorite person to get tips from on RUclips! I have to ask. Did you have a mentor? How did you go about the learning process when it came to becoming an audio engineer and producer? Do you have specific people that you looked up to and teachers along the way? Thanks for the amazing content. :)
I’ll tell u wut i’m thinking thinking damn it..... i’m thinking this track is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 drums are crispy ASF !!!! the hh rolls, the extra snare parts, the smoothness of the 808... the silkiness of your voice... (i’m rambling on here) everything came together flawlessly!!!!
That sample was lifted from Mac Miller. Stay. I’ve ran into this with Splice a lot lately. It’s definitely the same chord progression. Here’s the song if you have Apple Music.....music.apple.com/us/album/stay/1137965822?i=1137966314 Here’s RUclips ruclips.net/video/5WU7oGiwiao/видео.html
Ok now it takes to a question: Once you sweep and get rid of all the bad frequencies, do you leave the track like that or you work on other equalization that boost high frequency or whatever?
Is there any specific place in the mixing chain where you would put the subtractive EQ? At the beginning, before/after compression, at the very end of the mixing chain? I mean, okay, I use the high pass anyway, because I know those low frequencies aren't going to appear in the mix with my voice. I've got the Rode NT-1 and when talking to my mastering engineer (he actually recommended it to me), we concurred that it really doesn't need much in the way of EQ processing because it's such a clean sound and it doesn't really pick up too much room noise.
@@thorlondonmusic5336 sometimes the way you record the vocal is bad, sometimes because of the room and every vocal is diferent. Sometimes too much "s" etc.
Yeah indo understand but why 3? I think u could make it same with 2 or even 1 and a multiband compressor, music less its more and over process sounds like death ( my opinion )
@@thorlondonmusic5336 it just for the vocal, i cut with one and add with another, the 3rd sometimes when you put the level up still have bad noise and that help cut some part not all. Yes multipcompr is good. But There's no rule if you have good result.
How much work do you do with compressing vocals & manually leveling vocals in automation? Any tips? I know most of your vocal parts are naturally very level from your singing style. This is something I'm trying to make easier in the studio - I might just need better plug-ins though.
ok ok, I thought it was going to be yet another .. "what producers forget!" vid, but I was surprised. This was different, very detail on your part by going through the whole song and catching those "whistles". Much love from Texas!
this is wrong, boosting frequencies all the way up could make any frequency range sound bad making more difficult to recognize where are the resonances. this is actually a great mistake.
@valentinabilancieri I need some help on logic pro after i record I can hear the beat playing threw my verse and threw my headphones and I turned my monitors off but I can still hear it
Great Video VB!! You should think about doing a course on Udemy. I would buy it. There are questions I would love to ask. Great info. Thanks Again for Sharing. I don't have Social Media.
Great job I just wanted to know how did you achieve the WOO affect when you build up in to the song with like a synth bass slide Sound but I call it the woo sound

Harold Bones what dB should I stay under to get good mix
@@hhhqzzhhhqzz2004 The rule of thumb is -6db for the entire mix. But you can do different things. The main goal is not to clip above 0db
Harold Bones thank you!
i love to see your videos Valentina, nice to see you again :) thanks for all
Thanks for watching! :)
I really appreciate your content!
Dude!! 😯. You killin it!!!! Subscribed!!!!!!
Great instructional videos. Explained so well and the tracks sound so good.
You’re a very good teacher and clearly very intelligent. Do you do any more natural genres without all the artificial synth and drum beats?
I need a "recording drums/beats from scratch for dummies" video pls!!! you are amazing and the only person I actually understand when it comes to the recording process 😅
Solid video, girl.. Glad you're still out here doing it..
You are so talented.

Nectar Elements 3 is good for this, and plugin boutique are doing RX7 Elements for £25, I would cop it quickly.

Nice video, how come some of the unpleasant sounds get cut more dramatically than others?
I use like two eq, sometimes even 3. And thank you for the step
Id like to know why that over process

I just gave a thumbs up for your video, 😁😀
Do you have a tutorial on how to make that 808?
yeah
your vocals thoooooooooooo
Awesome! Are the drum sounds also from splice?

You are good producer but really good singer please do some singing stuff for producers . Love you from india🇮🇳
Quarantine on Spotify sounds too loud in the bass sound 😬
Amazing 😉

Do you use subtractive EQ on every vocal chain?
Hey what plugins do you use while recording your vocals?
@valentinabilancieri I need some help on logic pro after i record I can hear the beat playing threw my verse and threw my headphones and I turned my monitors off but I can still hear it
add a gate or try turning the beat down so ur not yelling over it and helps against clipping
Instead of a low pass filter why not just change the sample rate you could’ve brought it down to 1000 and you could get the same affect.
Great Video VB!! You should think about doing a course on Udemy. I would buy it. There are questions I would love to ask. Great info. Thanks Again for Sharing. I don't have Social Media.

Your vocals remind me of Ariana Grande a little. This is another hit for you!😎🔥
Thanks! :)
Do you do any mixing of other’s music? I’m definitely interested. Or any type of collaboration?
Great job I just wanted to know how did you achieve the WOO affect when you build up in to the song with like a synth bass slide Sound but I call it the woo sound
That'd be a filter sweep. Play around with the cutoff knob until you find something you like :)
I think you’re talking about the Tape Stop effect. Look up Music Tech Help Guy’s channel for LPX functionality. He’s a good teacher.
Is Logic Pro x only for apple
Jorge V Colon yes
Kinda sounds like ROS Mac Miller but still 🔥
Hi 👋
Hi!
how to break like 1:00???? I do wanna know that skill in Logic Pro
I think it’s called Tape Stop. Look up Music Tech Help Guy’s channel for a lot of LPX tips. He’s a good teacher on the functionality of LPX.
Here the music has much better sound than on Spotify.
