Diane, I love all your little embelishments and pockets. Please continue to share all your cool ideas. I'm new to junk journals but enjoy making them for friends and others who just need a little pick me up!
Thank YOU SO much for this video. I am new to junk journalling and was at a loss trying to "surprise" my Sister with a junk journal for Valentine's Day this year. I don't have tons (material and tools) of stuff but I have enough to make one.
Loved all the goodies and ideas!! Especially all those library pockets!! I too enjoy making those 'instant gratification' items makes me feel like I am accomplishing something!! TFS Diane!! :)
Love your things great inspiration. Please show more if your ideas. Made a tag like you did with the napkins it turned out so cute. Now I can't stop looking at napkins when u go into a store
Wow, you've been really busy. Those are things on my list to do for me too, as soon as i finish my other projects! Also that was a lot of circut cutting! I have one so i know the work that goes into changing the cartridges along with all that paper. Makes me tired just to think about it, lol... TFS all that inspiration, loved it all! ~ hugs L
So much fun! So many ideas for things to customize your journals. Thanks for inspiring us to challenge ourselves and use what we have! Really liked the small collage pouches at the end and your stamped on ready made pockets too!
Can you please tell me what Cricut cartridges you use for all of your Cricut cuts? Thanks, you ate so gifited, really do like all of your ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Ooooo my fav is the last... Collage stamping on library pockets. I thought it was paper at first and I was gonna want to know what brand. Great job. Tfs
Please do more of these types of tutorials because I struggle with how to make interesting things to add to the journals once I finish putting one together. This was so helpful. Please show us more of your wonderful ideas. I can't wait to see them.
Thank you so much! I am glad you found this helpful. I love seeing what people do with scraps, etc. and how they make embellishments, too. I will certainly do more videos as I do more little projects.
Wow. I'm finally working on making my 1st JJ & looking for ideas for pockets & embellishment. Thank you so much for your ideas. I'll be subbing & watching your videos. I loved watching this video. Have a nice weekend.
How beautiful. I love all of these ideas. I have just gotten into junk journaling and must try some of these ideas. I only hope they turn out half as well as yours. Thanks so much for all the great ideas.
Great ideas for my scraps! I love using up my pieces! I appreciate how you do beautiful work with simple technique and without expensive tools .... Thank you!
Diane, I love seeing ideas. I have just started trying my hands at junk journaling. I am a newbie at using paper for crafts. I am having so much fun playing. Thanks for sharing...Crafty Hugs...Dar
Thank you soooo much! Love that I can see and hear you so clearly! Can you please list the cartridges you used in your machine to make all the pockets and cards??? Thank you!
you're very welcome ... I will try ;) I hope you don't mind me sharing your video to a facebook group I'm trying to get going ... please join if you're interested ... it's so difficult to get new members when starting with only a few ;) facebook.com/groups/277711159399712/
+Carolyn Dalton The library pocket is from "Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More", and the tags are from "Picturesque". That cartridge has a tag for every image, and then at the end there is a solid tag with reinforcers. Thanks for watching and for commenting!
+Linda Rodriguez Hi, Linda. I used a cartridge called "Fabulous Findings" for the cute little pockets with the tabbed inserts. Is that what you were asking about?
I like what you have done, especially the little Bingo Book. I seen somewhere on here where somebody made a tiny book for the inside of their smash book and wanted to do that but I'm stuck for some reason. I did my first junk journal and LOVE it. I think maybe because the size of the journal, well mostly because of the width, I just went in and covered all of the pages with different paper, a few I didn't cover in the beginning but anyways it wasn't very wide so it didn't take nothing to fill up a page and I didn't have to think about what to put or anything. Whereas I love the Smash books and bought like 6 of them and I'm trying to do my first one and I'm stuck because I keep trying to press my brain for what to put on the pages because they are themed kind of. and I don't want to think about it because I have OCD and I am very decisive for some reason and I use to not be and it drives me crazy. I keep telling myself to just go through it and just put stuff I like it in and don't worry about the themed parts. Some of the pages are too pretty to cover though. I have alot of scraps and packs of ephemera and almost all of the smash book supplies. I need some inspiration bad. The first one I'm working on is the Baby Themed one and when I purchased it, I didn't notice that because I wasn't paying attention and I wasn't sure what they were all about so I just bought the cheapest one and for some reason the baby themed one is only like $5.08. Then I got it and liked it so I probably should have waited but I bought 9 more and 1 of them is REALLY bigger and I bought two of the kits that came with mini books, not the mini books you can buy, just paper books and I thought they were the full sized books or I would not have purchased them but I think they actually gave my money back on that. I do have a small one, it's the 3D one and I don't like it and I finished a mini mini one but it was so little it took me about 15 minutes. I gave 1 to my son and 2 to a friend I seen once and a while. I did the junk journal because you didn't have to think of anything or how it was gonna go or where and you don't have to use photos. But I feel like on this one smash book they have one page that has a very big B and says b is for baby and baby on the page and I thought about getting a couple of very small pics of my kids when they were little but I don't want to deal with the photos. I'll think about it so much that I become overwhelmed and then can't do anything. So I'm actually asking you for your advice. Should I just go with it and ignore the themes? My son said I always need reassurance but I can't help it. OH and I meant to send you another message and forgot because I need an organizer bag or box, a large one and this one lady had what looked like a caboodle and she had all her stuff in it but I can't find one big enough. I bought this one and it was so cute but so little so I sent it back. Any suggestions from anyone would be very helpful and appreciated. Sorry for such a long comment. I have all kinds of Smash Book tabs/sticky notes and every pad they have with the prompts or whatever so I have everything I need besides inspiration so please anyone send me some ideas and about me going and just doing it like the junk journal. That's how I want to do it, I guess I do need someone to say "okay Niki just ignore the theme and put what YOU like in it because it's YOUR book. LOL" I'm also not sure what to do about the front cover if anything. It looks fine to me the way it is but I seen one person coloring on the front cover and someone else left a comment to brush ink across it. I'm not worried about the front right now though. And I LOVE little tags and tuck spots and mini envelopes and I made them without anything so some have off shapes but I like it and think it adds character that they aren't perfect and this one little piece, it was double sided so I folded from the bottom up just a little bit and on each side folded those back and it made me a little pocket and it's cute. Oh yeah, one more thing, I purchased a Martha Stewart Mini Scoring Board and Scoring bone file or whatever it is but what is the point to this thing? I just use a credit card to go around puffed up stuff that I want flatter and I tried the bone folder knife and it was so sharp it actually cut the paper a little, so please tell me what this is for, if it's just to get your measurements right or what? Thanks a bunch and sorry again but how do you get into the pen pal like club where you swap stuff with other people?
+Niki Reynolds Hi, Niki. don't feel overwhelmed by the junk journal/ smash book process. It is supposed to be fun!! Just ignore the themes on the pages and stick on whatever you like!! The bone folder is for burnishing the folds on your cards, envelopes... anything you fold. You rub the side of the bone folder (not the tip) over the folded edge. They can be used to score the cardstock with your score board, but you must be careful not to press too hard or you will tear it. I hope you can learn to enjoy your smash books and junk journals and find a way to use them the way YOU want to. Good luck.
Hey, thank you. I guess my son was right when he said I always need reassurance. I can't help it. I always use a debit card for my folders but this mini scoring board was on sale so I bought one but I still use my debit card, LOL! Thanks again for the reassurance and after watching your video I actually did some more on my Smash Book last night. So you inspired me and I feel alot better about working in it now. I just have to literally tell myself sometimes to ignore some of the themed pages and put what I want. Do you do journal swaps? How do you get into doing that? What about just swapping supplies, like scrapbook paper and stuff like that? Thanks again, Niki
Hi, I signed up and I think that was the right place but I haven't been approved yet that I know of. Do you use the planners, like Heidi Swapp or 365 Happy Planner, I think that's what it is called? I was just curious about if you can use the same pages for these 2 different planners? I bought an older one, I think but not for really planning because I never have anything to plan but it said Memory Journal but I wanted to see if any of the other stuff you add to it has to be by Heidi Swapp or if they are interchangeable.
Thanks, Katherine. The round corners, and the ticket corners are from the cropadile punches, and the fancier looking corners are fiskars punches. I'm glad you feel inspired by this video. Hope you have fun making your own embellishments!
Diane H. Thank you, I will look for those. I made some journal cards, inspired by this video and I shared it on Instagram pkitty11. I will tag you if you're there too.
I have a tripod set up in front of my table, with the camera angled down at the table surface. I stand or sit next to the tripod awkwardly reaching around it! It makes my back hurt if I do 2 or 3 videos at a time! Thanks for watching.
Diane, do you remember what Cricut cartridges you used? Seeing your video makes me want to fire up the Cricut and make some stuff. Seems like all I do is watch You Tube and watch everybody make art. Thanks, Sharon
Sharon, I am so sorry I have not answered your question. My husband passed away suddenly 3 months ago, and I have not been very active in crafting or anything since then. I will have to watch this video to see which cartridges I used for these pieces, and I will give you an answer. Hopefully this week. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Again, I apologize for not replying!! I finally got around to checking out which cartridges I used. For arrows and tags: "Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More" (I think you have to look on e-bay or amazon for a used one; this one is discontinued I believe); for other tags: "Picturesque" (this is the one that includes the reinforcement holes); for banners: "Pretty Pennants" ; for tabbed recipe cards: "From My Kitchen" HOpe this helps. So sorry it took me so long.
I love everything. I am a big Cricut girl. I love to see Cricut journal things. The soup envelope is this one- www.hobbylobby.com/Scrapbook-Paper-Crafts/Die-Cut-Machines-Accessories//p/139307 I think Sentimentals cartridge has something similar. Thank you for sharing. I love to set down and make things like this too in a large batch. I always get inspired seeing different ideas.
Welcome to the world of Junk Journaling! Try finding Junk Journal Junkies on facebook. It is a private group, but just request to join and they should accept you. Then you can see pictures and videos that people post of their journals. If you look under the "events" tab on that page, you will see the current swaps. Good luck.
I'm wondering where y'all are getting the tab pieces such as the blue one on the stamped card at the beginning of this video. I keep seeing them in videos. Are you making them or is it a punch? Thanks
I have seen several paper punches that make the. I think one is by Martha Stewart but there are prolly several makers. And some of the die cutting machines make them too I believe. I am still collecting things I will need to art journal and make other are my "studio" is limited. I make my own, stamp or color them before I cut them out so I can do more at one on a larger surface.
I'm sorry but apparently my computer decided I didnt need all the words I typed...LOL That was supposed to say: I am still collecting things I will need to art journal and make other things but right now my "studio" is limited. Sorry about that...LOL
I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry to hear about your husband passing away too. I know it was a while ago, but I just read about this in here. Again, I'm very sorry.

What cricut cartridge makes the library pockets and the tag with the reinforcer? WOW, you have been busy! Loved all the items you made.

I don't have any of the scrapbooker type planners so I can't answer those questions. I think you will enjoy and learn a lot from junk journal junkies.
Sooooo inspirational! What brand are your corner punches?
Thanks, Katherine. The round corners, and the ticket corners are from the cropadile punches, and the fancier looking corners are fiskars punches. I'm glad you feel inspired by this video. Hope you have fun making your own embellishments!
Diane H. Thank you, I will look for those. I made some journal cards, inspired by this video and I shared it on Instagram pkitty11. I will tag you if you're there too.
Love the camera angle. It's as if you had it attached to your face. I've been trying to figure out how you did it.

Are your index cards tea stained? They don't look white but they don't look like they were ever wet either, lol
Really like all of it!
Thank you. They are inked with distress ink. I do like to coffee dye the sometimes, too, though.

I have a tab punch made by Stampin ' Up. Unfortunately, it is no longer made.
🙂
I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry to hear about your husband passing away too. I know it was a while ago, but I just read about this in here. Again, I'm very sorry.
Thank you, Katie. It has been 6 months, but at times it feels like it was yesterday.
Oh, Stamping Up tab punch!? Sorry! 😁
