hello I am new to the GIS Can you help me with the playlist or how to get the google hybrid tiles and other layers which were used if possible please help me with the all steps so i can learn the whole process
When I click New 3D map view in QGIS 3.14 or 3.12 , I always have a problem and receive a announce of "Unexpected crash" and QGIS will shutdown when I click quit or send message which the notice asked. May you help me correct this mistake. Thank you so much.
I am a fan of 3D Visualisation. Thank you for this training. Nevertheless, after following all the steps, my 3D is not rendering properly. I am still seeing my elevation as a flat terrain even after panning and using the scroll button. Is it because am using QGIS 3.24? Or there is something else am missing.
thanks for this tutorial, I'm encountering an issue while selecting the terrain elevation raster (the dem raster); the map on my 3d map viewer disappears. Any idea why?
I've had that happen to me also. The map is still there, the view just changes so that you're not able to seen the layers. Adjust the view controls (rotate and pan) until the map becomes visible. Sometimes you have to get it just right to see the map.
@@geospatialschool aah that worked thanks. one more question, qgis keeps propting me to use a projected coordinate system. Im not entirely certain of what that is, but for a test i just selected one of the CRS from the drop down in qgis. which one should i be using?
A projected coordinate system (PCS) converts angular coordinates to be represented on a flat plane. In the case of earth, coordinates of degrees, minute, seconds correspond to locations on a spheroid (the earth), this is a geographic coordinate system (GCS; uses angular measurements). A projected coordinate system transforms those coordinates to display the curved surface of earth in 2D (for example, on a paper map or your computer screen). If your data are in a GCS, QGIS automatically does some conversions to display the layers on your screen. Mathematically, it's simpler to do those displays (especially 3D displays) if the layers are projected to a flat surface. You can convert from a GCS to a PCS by right clicking on a layer, selecting save as, or export as, then changing the CRS to a PCS and saving the layer under a new filename.
I could not find the video about making a "areal video flight" with the 3D map? Would interest me since Google Earth Pro is nor really Pro in this regard and QGIS seems to have a lot of options and features. Thx
"No 3D objects were rendered? There is a compatibility issue with QGIS 3D view. You need to close QGIS 3D view(s) and restart QGIS to use this preview", how to fix this eror ???
So as i gather, it is not possible to create a .vtk file with the 3D model in qgis? I am trying to add topography to my mesh in paraview and i am tryng to my using PVGeo and Pyvista and tutorials on their sites use DEM in .vtk formats
I have two raster layers... however when i try to set the Elevation setting of Terrain field in Configure settings of the 3D map view I can only choose one layer... resulting in a Digital Elevation Model of that layer... How to select both the layers?... I am using version 3.8.0 Zanzibar
You will only be able to select one layer to set the elevation. Elevation is a single variable so you can only represent it with one layer. The other layers that are turned on in the map canvas should appear on top of the 3D model.
Please where to download dem and hillshade files for this video and for Africa ? I am not able to practice this video because I dont get the files. Thank you for your help.
when i do it says 3d view currently does not support unprojected coordinate reference systems (CRS) Please switch project's CSR to a projected CRS what should i do
Convert your elevation (or other layer used to create the effect) to a projected CRS. You can do this by right-clicking the layer in the table of contents, selecting export as (or save as, depending on your QGIS version), changing the CRS to a projected CRS, and saving with a new file name. You may need to do a little research to determine a good projected CRS to use. For some more detailed info about CRS you can read the comment thread on this video started by @sahu.
Wow. This is so helpful! This really brings my ability to present data to an entirely new level. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the tutorial!
Thank you for your clear demonstration, but I wished if you show all topographic features including DEM one by one as you did to streams.
Great suggestion!
Smart! I like this thing, you are very good trainer
thanks allot great teaching
You are welcome!
I could not rotate the 3D map, can only zoom in and out. may be I'm missing something

Thabk you sir. How can we compose 3d map? With 3d Legend?
But weren't you going to post links to your other related videos in the description?
Thanks for the reminder. I added some links.
@@geospatialschool Thanks much. I am a long-term Esri user who has recently moved to QGIS...your posts have been very helpful in orienting me to QGIS!
@@kiyoshiotda442 Glad it's been helpful for you!
What version of QGIS 3 do you recommend right now for a windows 10 pro machine 64 bit
I would recommend the newest released (3.6 I think). Or the latest long term release (3.4).
hi, can we make 3d model from bathymetry data in qgis like surfer software?
Great video! Is it possible to export a 3D map in pdf? Thanks
At the moment 3D maps can only be exported as images

Hi! really helpfull. I have a question..how can I export hd images from 3dmap?
There is a button to save as image
@@geospatialschool thank you but i need hd images..is that possible?
@@annaberloffa9376 The only options I'm aware of are those available when you export an image.

Nope. Currently you can only export images of the 3D view.

Can you use this 3D image with the garmin custom map plugin to create something that can be used in a gps?
I don't think so. The image is just a 2D representation of the 3D model, so there's not a way to georeference it in 3D

I have other videos that show how to download the data

Download the DEMs from the internet. You can find them from many different sources. I have another video that shows you how to download for the US
why not work. flat
