I discovered this ny accident one time with some maple bread I was making. Glad to see you also utilize this method. Keep up the good work Gemma, and thank you for the videos 😁
Gemma, THANKS for this granola recipe! I halved it because my oven is small! Shared sampling with family & friends & everyone loves it! Will be my "go to" recipe for a healthy snack! Have made it twice already! Smells so good when it's done & tastes great, too! 👍❤ Chris.. greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Thank you. I was cooking mine at lower temperature and it never turned out well. I will try the salt in the liquid. Your demonstrations are very pleasant and I like many appreciate you😃
Thank you for sharing. I can't cook or bake but followed your recipe to a tea, and have made three batches in two weeks. This puts store bought granola to shame!!! The only problem is, unlike your comment that this amount will last a long time, mine disappears very quickly:)
Used this recipe to make my granola, and it turned out AMAZING! However i had to bake for almost two hours, because i used one sheet pan, so to whoever who uses one pan know that it’s completely normal that your granola takes so much time to bake and it doesn’t matter that it is not crispy straight out of the oven, if it’s browned up nicely and throughout it will crisp up once granola starts cooling down out of the oven. I don’t know if you can even make a mistake with this, i ended up adding more coconut oil and honey and other nuts and seeds and bran and in the end i added dried cranberries, and yeah it turned out really tasty.
Wow, that looks really good! I'm trying to watch what I eat now that I'm back in figure skating and that includes cutting back on unhealthy foods as much as I can. I want to have granola with my Greek yogurt in the mornings, but all the granolas in the stores have way too much sugar added. I love coconut and I dislike and want to cut back on preservatives too, so I'll have to give it a try.
What a fabulous recipe for granola! We stopped eating granola because of the refined sugars. We do have a fan in our oven but it's when we use the convection method, will this work? If not, we'll move the trays around. Thank you so much for this recipe!
Yes, a convection oven should be fine. But you may need to make adjustments; lower baking temperature by 30F / 15C, use bottom rod heating only. Hope this helsps.
I was very happy when she said sugar free granola 😢 but maple syrup is same as sugar for health purposes. Still I love her videos even though I don’t eat their recipes since I eat low carb/keto.
Thank you!!! I have a question. What would you need to do to basically turn this recipe into granola bars instead? I love the natural ingredients used here and would love a granola bar recipe with the same type of quality :)
Thank you! @biggerbolderbaking What can I use in place of brown sugar? Cane sugars cause me a lot of physical pain. I have better results with honey and maple syrup although I have to limit those too. But brown sugar will make this a definite no no for me.
@@ria9881 Brown sugar is just white sugar + molasses. Honey (make sure it’s real), pure maple syrup, agave, or coconut sugar will work. Each will give a bit of diff taste. Have fun and experiment to find what works for you. No worries you can’t go wrong. ; ) PS if a test batch didn’t work as a bar just eat as granola. 😊
@jmc8076 I know what brown sugar is, hence why I asked what I could use in place of it because cane sugars cause me pain. Thanks for the coconut sugar suggestion. I have had similar results with agave as cane sugar so I will steer clear of that one. 😁
@@ChristineHK Gemma said in the video that you can use light olive oil instead. Some people choose neutral-flavored vegetable oil or seed oil (sunflower, grapeseed, canola, etc.)
Is there any other option for using oats? Oats will spike your sugar level higher then sugar and was wondering if there was anything else that can be used.
Hi gemma I love my granola as is without anything like a crunchy snack😊 I wonder is it better to bake granola without parchment paper....it doesn't stick?
Wait. The very first ingredient in that vanilla bean paste is sugar. I know it's not much, but it does contain refined sugar as all vanilla bean pastes do!
Hi. Yes, you are correct. As mentioned however, adding it is optional. It enhances the flavor of the granola though, but it can be left out if preferred and one will still get a good result without it. Hope this helps.
@@lisabobanuse pure vanilla then🤷🏽♀️. Also when recipes say no refined sugar, I always think the actual sugar like a cup of sugar (for example instead of the maple syrup) vs a sugar in a product like a paste.

I put my fruit in before cooking, also - so disappointed but lesson learned - always the hard way for a lifetime of remembering!
It happens even to the pros. I like to experiment myself, and sometimes learn things the hard way. On the other hand, it can be a learning moment. 😊
I have added semi moist dry fruit ( like apricots ) at the halfway point with great success
Yummy

I'm allergic to coconut. What can I substitute?
You could replace them with seeds, puffed rice, etc., or just extra nuts/rolled oats.
@@제정은-f7j I don't think the seeds can be subsituted for coconut oil, though.
@@ChristineHK Gemma said in the video that you can use light olive oil instead. Some people choose neutral-flavored vegetable oil or seed oil (sunflower, grapeseed, canola, etc.)
@@제정은-f7j Thanks, I will find something. I'd stay away from light olive oil. It's really a different veg oil mixed with olive oil.
You can replace it with other nuts or rice krispies or just leave it out. Hope this helps.
Hi jemma
Is there any other option for using oats? Oats will spike your sugar level higher then sugar and was wondering if there was anything else that can be used.
I've seen keto granola made with all nuts, no oats!
You can try agave syrup or a sugar substitute. It should still yield a good result.
