      The first pro is the big necessary screen. Not flippy but hay!
      2. They do not have five axis. Including the Arri, Cook, Or Ziess lens. But they are mountable on a gimble.
      3. The will handle 2 tarabyte SSD memory cards.
      4. Duel mic input.
      The down side to these video cameras is. They eat through a very large battery. Every hour to an hour and a half. So a full day out vlogging. You will need nine fully charged batteries
      Himmm a gimble mounted video camera on a vlogging stick!🧐😳😵‍💫

    Hi,Do you think alexa mini and mini lf camera have different colours and image to it ?? If yes what is it ? Which is good and why?

  • @chrisbutler8856
    @chrisbutler8856 Год назад

    Amazing video as always. When making exposure adjustments with the HDR color wheels, I see Global adjustments of -2, -4, etc. Is -2 to decrease by one stop and -4 to decrease by 2 stops? My understanding of working with the normal color wheels is to decrease by one stop you change Gain to .50, to decrease 2 stops you change gain to .25. This is all a big confusing to me haha. Thanks!

    • @BlaineWestropp1
      @BlaineWestropp1  Год назад

      Hey thanks! If HDR wheels are mapped properly, -1 in the global would be a 1 stop reduction in exposure. -2 would be -2 stops! Same goes for increasing exposure.

    So, both the LF and 35 can shoot in open matte 4:3?

    • @BlaineWestropp1
      @BlaineWestropp1  Год назад +4

      both can shoot open gate full sensor. closer to 3:2. the LF is 36.70 x 25.54mm (4448 x 3096) and the 35 is 27.99 x 19.22mm (4608 x 3164)

  • @leebrandt8597

    This tells me that the Alexa 35 has about 1 more stop in the highlights than the LF, which is less than the 1.5 additional stops that Arri claims. Still, impressive results from this new camera EDIT** on closer inspection, it does seem like it's 1.3 stops more than the LF. Well done Arri

    • @BlaineWestropp1
      @BlaineWestropp1  Год назад +7

      I would definitely trust Arri on that one. This is a non scientific test with influence from natural daylight which could change slightly here and there. Arri is always very conservative with their numbers.

    • @leebrandt8597
      @leebrandt8597 Год назад +2

      @@BlaineWestropp1 I wouldn't say that they're conservative but rather accurate with their DR measurement, as opposed to most other manufacturers who exaggerate their numbers to gain customers

    How does everyone afford an a35?

    • @BlaineWestropp1
      @BlaineWestropp1  Год назад +9

      Lot of different scenarios. All the rental houses of course bought multiple. For individuals it can also be a very wise investment. For example, if you are a DP and put $100,000 into a package, you can buy one with cash and make the money back and start profiting within 40-50 days of the camera working. You can then just calculate how long it will take you to get those 40-50 days. If you calculate that you will get that in a year, it’s an absolute no brainer investment. And in this scenario in year 2 you make ~100k in profit on the camera package alone, on top of your fee. Then in year 3 you sell the camera for 50k (at least). So that’s 150k return on a 100k investment, in 3 years.
      If you don’t want to buy with cash, have the bank buy it for you. $1500-$2000/month for 5 years, likely pay it off sooner, but even if you make the minimum payment, the interest rate is still low enough to barely even be a factor. In this scenario, you can calculate, how much do I think this camera will generate for me each month. Even if you say only 3k, I have to believe that with that camera, even an inexperienced DP would be able to make 3k/month if they put their mind to it and provided it to productions given that the rental rate for a package is 2-3k/day!
      I plan on making a video about this and my experience buying the mini LF and how it was a very wise investment!

      @@BlaineWestropp1 I almost got the a35 when it came out. Arri had reached out with that email for everyone that signed up for early access… but I didn’t have the funds at the time.
      My bank wouldn’t loan that much because they said the asset is “too easy to hide” essentially. The collateral for that loan is something I could stick in a case and bury, is what i was told. (I’m a couple points perfect credit score as well lol.)
      I know Quail does gear loans but I haven’t tried them yet.
      Right now I could feasibly buy the camera and make the payments (I edit for some podcast/celebrity that pays well) I just can’t imagine getting into a payment like that. I want to buy it out right and want to be signed with an agency as a DP/Director or working with an ad agency for that to make sense at present. I’m hopeful that changes in the near future.
      I have friends that work with/at rental houses and they all say the same thing. Just leave it at a rental house for a year. My buddy paid his Alexa mini off on one rental. (A studio took it out for 3 months on a feature)
      I get the the sentiment of letting the camera do the money making. And I’m sure if I got it, it would, because I’m in Los Angeles. I guess what I was saying is I’m shocked at how many people on RUclips have an a35. Coming up with all the money to get the camera shooting (lenses, media, bats, etc.) is big chunk. I would be surprised if more than 2 people who see this video would ever be able to get a loan for this camera. The a35 is like a Ferrari commercial in rural town in KY.
      But it is bad ass you have the a35. Now… don’t get my words twisted, the second I can figure out how to get the a35 this year. I’m getting it. And then maybe I can make a response video to my own comment. Lol.
      It’ll start out “So in 2007 when I entered the film industry.”

      I hope you get it and make that video! Also, I don’t have the 35, I have the LF. Id still pick the LF over the 35. Do a lot of people on YT have the 35? As mentioned, if you can swing it, it’s a good investment. Resale value is also great and holds its value for so long!

      @@BlaineWestropp1 why do you suggest the LF over the 35? I’m confused on why everyone likes the S35 instead of the FF sensor. I’m a Red Epic-W S35 owner and i wish I waited for a FF sensor. My next buy will be an Arri but it has to be a Full Frame, nextflix approved future proof investment.
