Jaimie is really cool and aloha and a supergrom, I respect him more and more. Fascinating to hear him share his stories and really cool to hear him say big wave surfing "the reward is not worth the risk". Good for people to hear that from a charger. I've been out with some crazy crew, and personally agree, life is way to precious to risk losing it, but maybe they know something more, cause mostly they just keep ripping.
I can listen to you guys for hours

It was cool hearing him talk about the Masters, that was a heavy contest, with arguably the best line up of surfers of our time.

First time I ever saw Occy I was like 5 years old when Filthy Habits came out. Still my favorite surf film to this day. I’m (was) a Jersey guy and one of the first surfers to show you can make a living outside of competing was Sam Hammer who’s still killin’ it. Screw contests.
..i tell ya what...i use to surf back in the day ...then discovered kite surfing and have been LOVING it....but ever since i been watching Jamie ...want to get back into surfing again.....

Father was a lifeguard, grew up on the beach...pretty good pedigree for becoming a pro surfer!

Surfing should take a page out of the PGA tour and give locals an opportunity to open qualify to get into tournaments each week.
last week at the Pipe Masters 2019 they did in fact do that, with the Pipe Trials giving 100+ local surfers a chance to win one of two available berths to the main show. But i agree it should happen at every location.
