    Excellent and useful demo/ review. You let us hear the guitar without backing track and max distortion like most reviewers.

      @leonardgriffieblues5845  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you my friend. Yes, while I like a little light gain, too much distortion makes it pretty much impossible to actually hear the character of the instrument. Although I guess if you play metal you may want to know how it sounds with heavy distortion, but there’s no shortage of channels that do that.

    Just found your channel a few days ago, and I must say your reviews and playing are so much better than most of the large YT channels! Loved this review ans also the Toronado review you did. I have a Strat gib scale conversion neck and am thinking of strapping it to one of these Tele Deluxes. Although I would prefer the body style of the Toronado, but then that custom neck wouldn’t work unless I moved the bridge as that guitar is already 24.75 scale. Anyway, great reviews and playing! It’s a real breath of fresh air! Thanks so much for what you do!

    I just got one today in white. Nut was perfect, frets were perfect and polished and the neck relief was spot on. I did have to lower the saddles to where I like it but it wasn't too bad right out of the box. I wasn't expecting it to be this nice nor the pickups to sound this good. I had to send back a very expensive one to Fender about 18 months ago and this one blows that away at about 1/5 the price. Frankly I'm a little stunned. Great playing a great review!

    • @leonardgriffieblues5845
      @leonardgriffieblues5845  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you. Yes, the one I reviewed was way nicer than I expected. And while some complain because the pickups aren’t “true” wide range humbuckers like the originals, they sound good. Again, better than expected. Enjoy yours and thanks so much for watching.

      Unfortunately I haven’t yet tried the MIM version so I can’t offer much insight there. I think the Squier should be a decent choice for most who don’t want to go full American Vintage though.

      @leonardgriffieblues5845 the American is over $2000 and based on sound comparisons there really wasn't much advantage over the Squier even. Thanks for posting.

    I got the custom ii squire telecaster. and after a bit of arsing about with the neck and string hight and intonation
    and pick up hight (p90's).. debured the frets so it now don't rip your skin. it really plays like a dream.
    yes its still a cheap guitar and very heavy .. but it sounds sweet unamplified and wow!! amped
    it sure can growl and crunch it hasn't got a ton of different sounds but what it has is really really good.
    got it second hand off some learner he thinking he got one over on me..yes it was a right stinker
    almost unplayable.. the guitar he sold me was a half finished doer upper..
    if that fella could play he'd never have parted with it(a hidden gem) as its a beasty now.
    I got a real real neat bargain man and the ££££ saved and I ain't never gonna part with it.
    now I don't collect guitars and don't put a fetisch shine on my instruments after all their
    nothing but a machine and as a machine they got to be used oiled tweeked no end
    or they just fail when called on to do their reason for being in the room
    and thats not to gather dust..that custom ii is there for a reason
    to make me feel more alive gets played every day as do my others..
    PS
    I rotate them as their strings age or retune one into an open tuning
    there's loads of things to get just right or even wrong
    as there's only so much time in a life..and there's only me..
    tinkering a little here a little there..

      That’s my trusty Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, which I immediately ungraded to blonde spec (Celestion Neo-Creamback, firmware update). I’ve done some videos on it, the most popular of which was my “Tone Master at Two Years” video.

  • @MillerCustomGuitars

    Leonard! Where in the world are you getting all these guitars from? I bought two guitars for the sake of video content (one kit, and one cheap but affordable but high quality strat copy for comparison) and I completely ran out of video budget.

    • @leonardgriffieblues5845
      @leonardgriffieblues5845  2 года назад +3

      I feel ya. When you’re too tiny for any sort of sponsorship it forces you to become something of a gear dealer, which I don’t enjoy but at this stage it’s necessary. I will be pivoting to some videos that aren’t gear reviews.

    would you say it’s worth the money? are there any similar guitars in the same price range that are better/more cost efficient?

    • @leonardgriffieblues5845
      @leonardgriffieblues5845  Год назад

      I think most would agree the Classic Vibe series are a great value. And sure, these days there are lots of choices in that price range, many of which are very nice (the Sire T3 comes to mind), but if you’re after the classic Tele Deluxe, it might be as good a choice as any.

      Would it be possible to install regular sized humbuckers without a new pickguard?

    • @leonardgriffieblues5845
      @leonardgriffieblues5845  Год назад +1

      @@maxxxamt I don't think so. I did that review last year and no longer have the guitar, but I think the pickups are probably the same size as true Wide Range Fenders. They have the four mounting screws just like the originals and I believe they're a little larger than a Gibson style humbucker, so a new guard would be needed for a clean install of PAF style pickups. I'm sure someone makes one.

    I'm pretty sure that the guitar is a Squier Affinity Telecaster Deluxe, not a Classic Vibe series!

    • @leonardgriffieblues5845
      @leonardgriffieblues5845  5 месяцев назад +1

      No this is definitely the Classic Vibe. There are a number of differences, but just look at the pickups and the headstock. The Affinity version has regular (Gibson style) humbuckers, not the faux wide range humbuckers you see on the Classic Vibe. Also, the Affinity has the regular Tele style headstock, not the CBS era Strat style headstock like the original, and the CV. That should clear it up for you and thanks for watching.
