MadsMoments I totally agree I deal with depression and anxiety and I had to delete TikTok multiple times due to how toxic it is. I would always download it again because I also thought that it was fun to use to make videos, but there was a lot of triggering stuff on there not only regarding hating on other people but also things/posts that included eating disorder behavior or suicidal behavior and those things triggered me so much and I’m never downloading that app again. It’s so toxic in my opinion.

This is the exact reason I turned my comments off on tik tok because one of my videos blew up and all of the comments were putting me down. It really hurt my self esteem and I have never been more insecure in my life. I did it to boost my confidence and it did the opposite. Tik tok has become a dark place. :(

sunny roy - that’s true, i just wish some people weren’t as hard on others. coming from an hsp, i process life differently and i always see the good in everything. living in this world feels like i’m being assaulted on a daily basis, and it can be very draining seeing and feeling so much negativity. i wish it wasn’t human nature to be harsh and rude.

When I first downloaded Tiktok I was SHOCKED at the toxicity on it. I deleted it immediately. Of course, it's not all bad but you can't swipe on the for you page without seeing at least 1 video where someone is calling themselves ugly, calling someone else ugly and comparing themselves to someone else. Since when have looks become ALL that matters? I feel so sorry for children being exposed to this, no one realises the seriously harmful psychological effects.
Yeah, the “popular” kids use tiktok at my school. Those kids are the ones that cause fights, don’t attend classes and are really rude. I just think tiktok is a horrible app. I’m not saying don’t use it, it’s your choice.

Sad, but so true. I got on TikTok to get some laughs cause my best bud told me it's a really cool & funny app. Not even 3 days later though, I deleted it because honestly, 80% of the stuff on my FYP was just really depressing or full of hate. Don't even me started on all the unnecessary, hurtful comments from people on the content that was genuinely funny or cool. I mean, if being TikTok famous means being told horrible things from people when you're not even saying or doing wrong, then it ain't worth it, man. Why and/or how could anyone be part of such a toxic community? I really wish more people these days were like you, Madison. The world's already got so much negativity in it. We don't need to keep adding more.

I don’t understand what makes people want to comment hate
I’m glad to see there are people out there who agree with me about the whole issue of online “haters.” My friends and family ask me why I deleted tik tok, and I should start sending them this video. I’ve never once got hate on tik tok, but seeing other people get hated on and insulted was horrible. I even once tried to back up this girl who was getting made fun of because of her “dribbling skills.” Instead of backing me up, everyone just tried to insult me. I find this rediculous. Also, this isn’t the only time this happened. People are getting made fun of everyday on tik tok, and I don’t like sitting there and watching. Especially since when I try to help it does absolutely nothing.

But this prompts another question: Given this situation, does she see a way she can be permanently freed from this mental anguish?
