This is because your listings renew on the same day each month. But since February only had 28 days if you post something on January 29 to 31 the those days do not exist in February. So eBay’s software pushes your listings on these days back to January 28th, but once February needs that item should have a renewal date of the 29th to 31st based on your original posting date.
Its only this week I’ve had issues so i did notice the 28 day issue renewing.. that’s crazy they can’t fix that! Also noticed the category mix up!

Experienced the same glitch for a day or so myself. I’ve also heard several other sellers say that their sells went dormant recently for about a day. I have recently been picking up more books and they have been a big seller for me. Went to my local thrift store and made friends with the lady that sticks the books. She helped me find several book series. Glad I made a new friend at the store!!
Interesting others are having the same issue! The best thing you can do is make friends with the staff in the stores! People worry about telling people what they do or are looking for but in my experience it's the best thing and brings so many opportunities.

Hi Mel. It's going to happen for the month of Feb. Being 28days versus 30 or 31. It happened last Feb and this Feb to me so this is how I know so not a glitch but their programming could do with some improvement
Hmmm so you think it's dependant on the days of the month? Still so weird that the ones I listed the day prior were saying they were the newest and also the ones that were re-listing they were also buried
@@backfromburnout yeah eg. Items you listed on 1st Feb shown as 27days left but items listed in Jan showing 31day left therefore your Feb listings show as if you listed them 4 days prior. Hard to explain - my head hurts lol.

Someone said it may be. aFebruary short month issue, seems strange when ebay do state we get 30 days before a listing should renew.

Our ebay store has also been experiencing that glitch. This is I think the 3rd time Ive seen this glitch in the last few months.

As a full time book seller, I can tell you that you are getting at least double for what a lot of those single and bundles of books sell for here in the states. Not many book sellers on YT. Keep up the videos. Id be happy to talk books anytime as well, as there arent many of us that do this.
Thanks so much I love meeting other book sellers! Australia has a strong market for books because we don’t have Amazon to compete with. We’re not allowed to sell second hand books in Australia on Amazon so eBay is our only real platform.

You have to remember that an Australian dollar is 70 percent of US dollar. So $30 AU is $20 US
Don’t forget that Australian dollars are not worth as much as US dollars

I noticed from looking up the books your selling in AU on Ebay US, they all sell for a lot less like the Stephen King book sells for $6 here with free shipping! Most of his books here are cheap unless signed or the specialty red hardback SK set. I think this is because in AU, US books aren't as saturated and harder to find making the price much higher. This is why I only sell specialty rare books here and high value book sets along with multiple other categories! Enjoy watching your videos!

I just checked my shop and it's happening to me too. Plus I have found things I have listed are suddenly in different categories to what I listed them in.
Such a pain. I will be contacting ebay tomorrow to sort this. I have new listing's scheduled everyday and it currently shows I haven't listed for 3 days 😬😬.
some keep having issues of not getting ANY LISTING VIEWS. unless the paid promotion is used....

Hi Mel, I really enjoy your videos and your energy. Here in the uk the like of Music Magpie have totally killed book and cd sales. They are buying up books for £0.01 to £0.05 each through their apps and websites. They sell large £30 to £50 hardback books now for around £3 to £4 including shipping! It’s totally crazy! It’s impossible to compete. Watching from the uk, even taking into account the exchange rate, you get amazing prices for books. I was curious do you have similar to Music Magpie and how is it affecting the reseller book market there? It’d be really interesting if you had the chance (and time!!) to do a video on how you tackle this. Thanks ever so much for your videos and all the very best success to you. Steve 👍😀

Hi Mel! Thank you for sharing your reselling life! I'm inspired to expand into book bundles and found a great sourcing opportunity near me where all paperbacks are 50 cents! Question about packing -- do the books ship well in just a bubble mailer or do you wrap the bundles and the singles in bubble wrap and/or light cardboard before popping in the mailer?
Wonderful! I just use the bubble mailers. On the bundles I do wrap some tape around the mailer to make sure they don't move around in the mailer. My bubble mailers are strong and water resistant and I never have any problems!

I saw that happen with listings but it’s because it’s February with 28 days! So I was listing and the items went behind the listings that were ending after 30 days! It makes no sense.. plus I’ve not had sales in 5 days in both my stores! But noticed changes on the app! 🤷🏻♀️ something is going on!
It was very strange to not show as the newly listed items. I hope your sales pick back up, stay positive, keep listing and stay consistent x
How do you package for selling book series or book box packs? 5-10 same-author books similar to your stack of Liane Moriarty books? Largest padded mailer? Bubble wrap and a small cardboard box? How would you send such an order safely to the customer?

I just bought 2 storage units for the Collectibles items. But it also had educational books and other different books like fiction and nonfiction books. I never sold them, what is the best way to sell them In a lot or each book as single listing?
I’ve been having an issue with insertion fees and after you said there was a “chat” option, I got on it and had it fixed. I guess there’s a bug with insertion fee’s on eBay right now.
So glad you got it fixed. The eBay chat can be very helpful and anytime you have concerns jump straight on and ask for help!

Hi from "the states"...curious what you use to wrap your book bundles. Is it some sort of plastic wrap?
Yes like a cling wrap you would use on food! It's called mini shrink wrap and you buy it at your hardware store where all the packaging supplies are kept. I get mine in Bunnings, in America you can get it at Home Depot

I get maybe 1 or 2 sales a day. Yesterday I had zero and today I had one. I have 640 listings currently. I wish I had your sales lol.
Stay positive and consistent. I really feel it can take up to 1000 listings to start bringing in those daily sales (depends on what you sell of course and price etc) but I find around that 1000 mark the sales come more steadily. It’s a grind getting there though. The main thing is to stay consistent as eBay loves consistency ❤️

Hi Mel - I also have some errotric photography books - I picked them up in a haul. Do you have any advise on how to list them without being pinged on eBay? If someone is topless on the cover is it likely to be an issue please?
I often will use the backside of the book, crop a book. I do be careful of anything nudie on the front

I had the same issue. First time ever in my ebay experience I had a day with 0 sales. The following day I had 1 sale. This has never happened to me and my new listings were not showing up in my selling page if I sorted by newest listed. I kept listing and on day 2 late at night it fixed itself. 8 sales overnight, and 11 the next day. Kinda frustrating when you have to rely on ebay to pay the bills and feed the kids u know? I love selling on ebay but when stuff like this takes money out of my pocket due to their website issues I wonder if Ive made a mistake doing this.
You are lucky, I’m on 7 days two stores no sales with new stock listed daily! Mel keeps me motivated! I’ve reported the glitches but mainly no notifications for watchers.. even though there have been new watchers! I know they test changes on some sellers first and have seen many changes daily! Oh well… I’ll keep plodding on!
I’m pretty certain this is a February thing and not a glitch. I noticed this last year too.

Hey Mel I noticed a strange glitch too of like a delay on my listings too and when I contacted eBay for me turns out they reminded me it was February and there's not 30 days in the month I felt like an idiot but I'm sure that's not the case for you I just totally forgot that February only has 28 days hahaha blame it on the gray hair. I do have a question for you for your prices do you do auctions or do you do buy it now? I just wonder how people come up with their pricing sometimes I guess it's all just whatever you feel right? Maybe it was a February thing but so strange to not list items as newly listed when they are. I don’t like it.
I check the prices of other items that are the same or very similar that have sold by looking at past sales in the eBay app.

The prices you get for books seemed high compared to US prices so I checked the value of Australian dollars in comparison to US dollars. Today the value of 10 Australian dollars is 7.07 US dollars so that is one factor.
$100AU book vs $70US + $20 Post and $10 goods and services tax means Australian sellers can get more for their books without the competition as well as enjoy quicker local delivery.
I watch another few Aussie resellers and they have mentioned lately the same issue as you are experiencing Mel so it is obviously an eBay glitch. Now, who would have known they could clean their balls in bleach.. I wouldn't.. haha... looks like a great few days of sales.

I don't publicly link as it ruins my traffic metrics when lots of people look and then don't buy anything but it's really easy to find because I share everything openly here about what I'm buying and selling. :)

Number plates with 527 in them :) it’s my lucky number you may notice it tattooed on my wrist. My granny has the original 527 number plate here in my state. So I’ve starting collecting plates from around the world and soon I will start hanging them somewhere in my shed I think :)

Im a smaller seller than you but had no sales and was getting very very low views THEN…….. all of a sudden ‘they’ seem to have bothered to ‘grant me ‘ some views that have converted to sales…… all suspiciously within the same hour….. anyway…… eBay is weird.
I do that sometimes ! throw in a freebie if a customer is really nice too. Karma ! In terms of single sale books do you do better with fiction or non-fiction ?

Hi Mel & fellow watchers - My glitch on my store, has also happened to my Mom's eBay account (she doesn't have a store)... has been multiple double listings that her, nor I have created. Then, a few hours later, double listings gone, fast forward a day, double listings are back. It keeps happening for 4 days. Really weird. Anyone else?? Please comment if this has happened to any other watchers. P.S. U.S. here and super slow sales as well

Oops, I'm not very good with my grammar or words that are politically correct but noted for the future! Do you think that would make a difference also in a title as I do often add Aborigines in the title of those books and I don't want to come across as addressing them incorrectly..
Yes, I’m in the UK but it stood out to me too, should be ‘aboriginal’ in your titles or it may look off to some people. In the art world it’s been like that since the 1980s, not allowed to say ‘aborigine’. Always ‘aboriginal art’. Fair enough. Love your stream by the way, this is not a criticism
