    For our book inventory we switch over and started to put every book into a plastic bag, usually a comic or magazine bag to keep them clean. Then we label each book with a sku number that goes in order so when we consolidate shelves we just push everything over and it stays in numerical order. It sped up the picking process and cut down on the lost books a ton.

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад

      I like this idea. Do you post your books in those bags or recycle them for new book listings?

    You could save time while your packing orders by putting the sealed padded mailers into one of those blue bags on the table next to you. When it’s full put the blue bag onto the trolley in the hallway and repeat.
    Just a small thing I’m watching daily refinement and am becoming obsessed with saving a few seconds here and there lol.

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад +1

      Yes, sometimes I do that. This day I just threw them on the floor ha ha. But mostly I do put them straight into the blue bags. I get a little thrown when I'm trying to film as well as do my normal day to day things. It feels weird to film it sometimes lol

      The padded mailers have a weight limit of 5kg on all of them so I do t really have to worry about weight. I just have to know the size I’ll need and I’m pretty good at remembering what size the book is or how many books fit into each mailer. After doing books for a year full time I am pretty familiar. @@backfromburnout all makes sense now..makes packing whole lot easier. I pack my weekend items on a Sunday (takes me up to 6 hrs)so I can have Fri and Sat off..and you're totally right. I spend nearly 12 hrs a day myself between listing post office op shopping and packing at night. But its the thrill of the hunt and liking what you're listing that makes it so fun

      I noticed in another video that you buy your mailers from the post office. You can buy ebay ones online from packaging direct...much cheaper. I buy 3 sizes.and you save so much money

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад

      You can buy generic ones but then you have to weigh them which I don’t have time for. The flat rate with 5kg is only on Australia Post branded Small, Med, Large, XL satchels and padded mailers. If you use your own packaging then all items are priced based on individual weight and size.

      I do buy them in bulk so get a good discount. I think I bought 1000 small padded mailers the other day for $600.

    Do you churn and burn books or are you more fussy now only list expensive books? whats the minimum amount you would now list for? Thanks Mel!

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад +1

      Both! I still churn and burn. I don't want the books hanging around forever - although I am aware that many books require a certain person with a certain need to buy them. Specifically self help and textbooks. So I do expect those books to sit for longer until the right buyer comes along. The fiction books though that are very common I like to move those as fast as possible. I get a lot of the fiction books free or for cheap in large hauls. If I am physically choosing the books I tend to look for books that will sell for over the $20 mark.

    Is it possible to make 6 figures selling books on eBay?

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  2 года назад +1

      If you are prepared to put in hard work and have a large volume store. Some books are low profit so you have to sell a lot of books.

    How much do you pay for your storage units?

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад +1

      About $950mth! They aren't cheap but do come with insurance and I don't have to pay any extras like electricity or wifi bills like I would if I was in a warehouse.

    What is the average price for a book?

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад +1

      My average sale price is $25 as I sell bundles which help increase it. But a lot of individual fiction book sell on the lower end which is why doing books full time i need to do volume.

      I would obviously be very considerate if someone was in their storage unit while I was there and I would move stuff that was in the way. I wouldn’t pull it all out while someone was there. But I’ve had the units now for 7mths and only once has another person been in my aisle at their unit. 5 of them are empty so I think that only leaves three that are full and they are people with long term storage as they are never there. So I’m really lucky with the aisle I have.
