As a welder with fourty plus years in the trade it deeply worries me to that today's welding students can't use vice grips or other screw adjusting clamps. If this is the state of our future work force then no one will make America great again!
I use regular screw clamps, but when you're upside down in a place no man should be, quick clamps are just easier. Regular locking pliers will always beat them out on clamping force though.
Was just about to say something like that.
Lol it's a gimmick. Nothing wrong with the adjusting kind and they clamp harder
Don’t worry, that’s just one college teaching that. At my college we use the normal clamps just fine. I just bought two three packs a few weeks ago 🤙🏻
If you have fourth plus years in the trade Chris, I wouldn’t be worrying about the kids too much, I would be worried about you, you’re such a bad welder that you couldn’t scrap enough money to retire by now when you’re at least 60....
Great product, but the thought that kids struggle with vice clamps is a worry!
Sounds like a solution to a problem that never existed. Everybody treats kids like they're dumb, poor kids couldn't figure out the damn adjustment knob!
It's ideas like this that make people believe the LIE that we "lost the technology that took us too the moon." The whole "yes they did it with slide rules but they were just so much smarter then anyone around today" it's bullshit.
I was trained by an old school machinist who never went to college, never had a computer controlled mill or lathe, but could make anything from ar receivers, to motorcycle parts, etc etc.
My 4 yo works WITH me in the shop. He can read a micrometer, uses analog calipers, understands basics like voltage and amperage. He also understands things like stupid risks and safety.
What I'm trying to say is great men become great by standing on the shoulders of the great men before them. And if the smartest guy in the room decided to nix the adjustment screw vise grips cause kids couldn't figure it out, well... We already lost.
Problem solving for them is to buy something easier to use.
Is it that they can't figure it out or that they don't possess the manual dexterity since it's different than their X-box controls?
But seriously!....if you can't figure out a simple vice clamp.... then seriously step away from the welder and grinder
Indeed. Power tools would be a death sentence
Your students aren't capable of working regular vice grips?
@@MJ-nb1qn over a volcano with random earthquakes as well
@@quickshot4050 - We must be from the same town!
@@MJ-nb1qn you must have lived in the nice side of the mountain, on my side it had 4 foot of snow and 70mph winds!
It is W.V you are taking about
Little Johnny is in the wrong school. He needs basket weaving 101. What is he picking up with Vice Grips anyhow ? Engine blocks? Cutting cables and damaging his feet, oh my, the horror of it all. I want my safe space and soft blanket. Yup mighty sure, wrong school and/or wrong teacher.
"Sorry, this promotion is not available in your region"
I guess I'll be playing with my knob....
This is the first time I've down voted an episode of weld dot com. If the instructor is unable to teach students the simplicity of adjustable ERWIN Vise grips, time for a new instructor. Next on the list of must have auto-opening door's. Reason: Students can't figure out how to turn the door knob. I'm not buying that line of human excrement.
Way to increase the patronizing of the younger generation Armor tools. "KiDs HaVe A hArD tImE wItH cLaMpS" if they do it's just for a few minutes because they never used them before, and they quickly learn after. These are just rebranded C.H. Hanson clamps at almost double the price too. Maybe don't be condescending and sell rebranded Chinese clamps at American prices.
I thought the same thing when I heard the instructor say that. Just my opinion, but I would start the students off with the lost art of oxy-acetylene welding, then SMAW and so on. That being said, still like the clamps.
@@zeropoint7665 Oxy is a great thing to learn, but I'll never like it because it's so expensive and fussy. It does teach you a lot though, and it definitely has its place. Also, the clamps are genuinely great, it's just you can get the exact same ones from C.H. Hanson for $10 less a pair.
He actually states it's due to the odd shapes of the off cut metal they get donated to the school, and the fact that screw type clamps can be difficult to use on them.
This is blowing my mind after years and years of using traditional vise grips
Don taught me how to stick weld 8 years ago. Great instructor and thanks to him I’m bringing home a paycheck
Catering to inept kids instead of teaching them is not the way to go in trade school.
It did sound a little like catering. I like the idea though, if they work as good as shown, I'm in. Also, I don't think Red Beard would be blowing smoke, not that kinda person right there. I will try them out and give a fair review. Adjusting the knob is a hassle and a time buster. Jim
@@aerialrescuesolutions3277 I'm sure the product has it's pros and cons like any newfangled thing. Though most probably it will never fully replace the regular style welding clamp. But it might be a good complement.
I was thinking the same... I would like to see them pick up an un cut fully welded 1" test plate and see which one will keep grip.
I had a set of Lock-Jaw clamps that are also auto adjusting but they are no good when you need to pull parts into place.
It is also a bit worrying that some of your students are baffled by a vise clamp. Perhaps a mechanical trade is just not for them.
Most kids today can't manage more than one point of focus at a time. Product of being raised by the magic light box and being coddled.
I think they’d best be suited for sweeping up the shop.
@@truthserum9157 Nah. THe broom would confuse them.
I need to buy a dozen of those. But currently unavailable everywhere. Does someone has a link??
Oh yeah. Great kit there. Nice giveaway! Good timing with a lot of us on COVID budgets.
I like it. Definitely getting some. On another note if if Jonny can't deal with v--- grips maybe he's in the wrong trade. Or better yet don't blame the kids and come up with a better (not a) sales pitch. This looks like a good product.
Once your spring them there done for... don't over tighten them.
I’ll play with my knob all I want
those are good until you get he meat of your hands caught in where the clamping mechanism is. the shop I work at has them and when they get worn out instead of clamping any size, they don't clamp anything at all.
I've been welding at a vocational college with students aged 16-80 over two years (covid has lengthened how long it is taking!)
in all my time there, no student has been given the luxury of using any clamp at all.
In fact, I am the only student I have seen who sometimes tack welds stuff to parts of the bench when doing vertical , standing welding.
Everything is normally just rested unclamped on the table.
Looks like a great product.
I’m an industrial electrician. I NEED those automatic clamps. I had to use my knob clamps today to fixture up some electro mechanical pressure switches and clamping mounting tabs to a machine.
They do it for the kids. That assemble each clamp far far away in a place of heavy perspiration.
Watching this during my welding class break
Oh your just getting started. Wait till your years in still learning and finding out about more cool tools. Weld.com really helped me learn a lot. Im a big fan.
I am now attending school here in Tennessee, Tennessee College of Applied Technology. This would be nice to have for just getting started. I would like to start gathering some tools of the welding trade, to make things easier. Love the very good istructional videos. Keep up the the great videos, i watch them just about every day.
Now that’s a giveaway!!! Heck yeah guys👊🏼👊🏼💯💯
In theory it should be a time saver, thats always appreciated.
I thing these are a great addition to help replace the older ones you showed with the adjustable know we have them at work and sometimes use average 5-10 clamps per part to clamp down and taking clamps on and off the same part to flip it or whatever else you always get the clamps mixed up and have to adjust them all again. Just think how much time you would save in one job may only be like 5-10 minutes day but within a year or so that’s a lot of time and effort saved time is money they say. So hey boss we need some new clamps if you wanna save and make more money 🤣🤞 wish companies would think of stuff like this. It really would help everyone in the long run. Anyways thanks for the great video
They look nice but I doubt they can obtain the same clamping force.
they dont even come close! theyre crap imo.
I have been living under a rock! Never even heard of them! They have to be a better asset then them ole cowboy clamps!
Compound action pliers look interesting.
Hello from Aus. I have some similar clamps and they are good up to a point. They won't pull up sheet gap or clamp up springy material.
That is a great idea, they look awesome
Same kids and young adults that are afraid of a shovel I suppose.
If you struggle to adjust vice grips then maybe the trades aren’t for you.
Hurray! Finally back to someone with cohesive speech.
This look awesome 👌
Can hardly believe so if the nice stuff being given away! I should be so lucky!!
What a smart idea! Love it!
I'm dyslexic, I read that as "fatbech" not fabtech.
That’s my new favorite insult.
Wow that’s a serious giveaway 🙌🏻
It would be a better if the giveaway was available in Australia.
One handed is nifty.. but seconds don't break me yet.
Hell yea I love hearing about new and great tools
Those are great for welders
Wow and I live in Vegas
Great clamps, I know what I want for Christmas.
I want those clamps and pliers!!!
Nice tools.
When I was in shop at school in the 1960"'s we just had C clamps nobody ever had any trouble with them nobody dropped anything on their feet or the floor, we just did it. What is wrong with this new batch of kids are they not as good as us?, By the way i do like this new tools because they are new tech.
its just a fake selling point
You’re correct we’re better then you old people, why do you think most of the welding personalities on YT are young people?
@@quickshot4050 well if you make it you might get old too. I wonder what you will think or be when and if you do get past 60 , as most of the worlds population (95%) never reach that age, so good luck and never bother to learn from those who have gone before you
as all the things you have now came from those before you.
@@bruced1429 Exactly therefore since we have learned from your idiotic mistakes and learned from your successes we are better.

Cool!
Neat, but I'm not sold. No doubt they're handy at times, but if working a pair of vice grips with their little knob is your biggest worry... you're doing okay in life! :D
DEM PANIC
Not available for the UK 😢😢😢
Looks like nice tools. I never knew old school clamps were problematic. I think we must be coddling our little snow flake students. Next they'll want peach scented welding rods. ,,,,,or why can't they make steel that isn't so heavy to pick up. Boo-hoo......
That's aluminum lol.
Doesn't work outside of USA right ?
That would be a great contest to win, safely I only get one chance because I won't do the other social media choices.
Are these available in the UK? They look awesome 🤘🏻
Stop background music
Thanks for the info LARRYMOORE
Them sure seem nice 👍🏿
"Quit playing with your knob"
Does that have a second meaning?
It's not available for Belgium 😭
The start off pretty cool then the slide inside starts to get stuck and the become a pain in the butt
is it too late to enter the give-away??
Damn,...”this promotion is not available in your region” I feel left out! I can subscribe to the newsletter, I can order, but no chance on the goody’s 🤬
what no tin snips !
And of course no give away for Holland 😉 still love the video’s
These look great. I don’t have clamps at all. Need some of those.
Nice clamps
Good evening, I just saw a flap wheel that was knoched out about every thirty degrees. Really worked excellent. Are you familiar with this product. Thank you.
@@formerfreak4943 I am sorry I did not get a link or a Brand or model #. They put the Equipment away so fast I could not examine it. It really stripped paint and rust and polished the metal to a very bright finish. Thanks.
🤣 love it. Those look so cool and extremely useful
I would have had more than 3 entries but everything I tried on the last two entries wouldn’t work
I'm sorry the screw adjustment equipment is substandard. You can ship all of the offensive equipment to me and I'll dispose of them after I've worn them out. Thank you. DM me for my shipping address.
Those are great clamps, I know from experience! Too bad the Giveaway is not for Europeans... :-(
Cool
those clamps dont grab as hard as the regular ones. honestly if you cant operate a c clamp you shouldnt be in the trade.
scamdemic
Shame the poor kids have to work with different size metal... Guess what, the whole world is full of different size metal....
Sorry this promotion is not available in your region
Buy eagle grips
There made USA
There better than the original vise grips.
There now on sale on Amazone
Have you ever see the Armor Tool Toggle Clamps for Welding Tables? Let me know if you would like some :)
Sad that the "kids" can't mange a thumb screw to adjust the grips. I weep for the future.
Unless they grew upon a farm, most can't operate a manual transmission. Pretty soon an automatic transmission will be too difficult.
Those of you who cant enter due to location have a legitimate gripe. Those of you that are whining about the condescending video.... your just as Millennially off the deep end as those that are trying to make the world into 1 big rubber safe room. Yes it was condescending!!! But they are giving away a large free stuff package of really good clamps, etc. that you know you would want. Just like we should ignore the super safety freaks, we also don't need to be super anal about those that miss the point at the other end of the spectrum. We spend too much time policing each other. DAMN IT!!! Now I'm doing it to all of you..... I'll shut up now. LOL. Its their video.
Sorry, this promotion is not available in your region
i tried..
This “welding instructor” can’t teach pups how to use vice grips.. uhh new teacher please Jesus Christ they must be gettin paid to trash talk ur students.
hate those givaways when u enter they never work for me grrr probly wouldnt win anyway
Nice 4 minute Ad.
Seems kinda loose
Why are you calling the students kids - if they're adults you're talking down to them. If they are in fact still HS age then call them students and treat them like you'd expect an employer to treat them - you're training them for the work force are you not ??
I follow your channel and find it very informative.......but once again a giveaway competition only for people in God's own country 😔

Can’t get the giveaway site to work but definitely looks like some nice tools.
So whats a man have to do to get a full stair layout video??? Please guys I want to learn from you guys
I am a newbie welder, boy could I use some clamps.
