Mimir is the best thing that happened in this game.
He's like the awesome grandpa / Uncle / History teacher we never had who's full of stories to tell and is very good at telling them too. I would spend most of my time just listening to Mimir's stories about the lore. I'd put down my controller as soon as he starts saying something interesting and immerse myself.

Honestly Kratos naturally wasn't too bad of a person (well in terms of an average Spartan), it's mainly the Greek gods fucking with him that made him into that vengeance monster.

Mimir's first barb is one of his deepest. Not knowing a man from adam, it's easy to level criticism at him. Especially when you're right.

Look closely at Mimir's neck and shoulders where the tree meets his flesh. You'll notice streaks of flowing crimson contrasted against vibrant and thriving moss, running up into the tree. The tree has literally been integrated into Mimir's circulatory system. Even if he were somehow pried free of the tree, or if it were cut off him, it'd spell certain death. I can't imagine how excruciating the process was to begin with.
The worst part is that death of natural causes is almost certainly impossible for Mimir. The tree most likely acts as a life support system. Respiratory or circulatory failure won't matter, as the tree will continue to pump and oxygenate his blood.
Odin's cruelty knows absolutely no bounds.
god of War always has brilliant attention to detail
Mythology and gods were created by men. You can tell because there's absolutely nothing present in any religion or story that you could not picture it yourself.
Nothing spoken of a new color, a very impossible never before seen thing. Minotaur? Relatable we have those animals, just not mixed together. A giant serpent? We have serpent and can imagine them bigger. Multi armed gods? We have multi arms, totally imaginable.
Only shows all religions were man made with human limitations. There is no god

Funnily enough, being a reanimated head was probably the best for Mimir for the reason you said.
And also because it was probably easier for Kratos to protect a head than another fully grown human joining them.

In reality, it's probably because of how they designed his character in the tree. I don't think the cut that was made on his neck, let alone the angle that Kratos swung at, would have actually made such a cut. Instead of worrying about making the camera angle and body position better, it is easier to just pan the camera away. Also, we only see Kratos killing enemies in gory ways. Kinda makes it feel weird when you see the good guy just kill another good guy, at least for me.

OrionDistance I didn’t figure out until this scene. I thought the Norse gods were just gonna be a lot stronger than Kratos because he was fighting them in their domain and that’s what he meant by he couldn’t feel any of his attacks.

Pay attention to the boat stories, they explain the twist. Frigg was like a pet name for Freya, and later, after betraying her, Odin referenced Freya as Frigg in all documents as not to give her credit for her accomplishments.
It's a common hypothesis in academic circles that Freya and Frigg are actually the same deity
This is one of my favorite scenes in the entire game. It truly shows how evil and cold odin can be towards anyone he deems betrayed him. What makes me itch my head is he did this to mirmir, odin accused tyr but in tyr case he is odin son, you'd think tyr would've had a worse punishment but mirmir did
