I was shocked to see the tombstone of Archie Smith in the park! That was my uncle who only lived a few months. Alford and Elva were my grandparents. I had no idea he was buried there. My family must have once had land in what is this area of the park. I still have family that live in nearby Oneida and I own a house there! There are lots of bears in the area- glad you took precautions with separate cooking and sleeping spots.
@@AdventureArchives Hi guys! Love your videos! I’ve not been back since then, but my next visit I plan to hike out and look for the grave. Thanks for all the great adventures you share with us!
@devamail1 I believe that there are remnants of the old homestead near the gravesite. You can actually drive pretty close to the area on a gravel road called Alfred Smith. I had heard that your grandparents lived there and started a family plot when young Archie died then later on moved to Oak Ridge area to work on the Manhattan Project in some capacity. You can check out two videos by Papaw In The Woods where he hikes to Angels Falls Overlook/Grand gap loop to get more information. He has lived in Oneida and Big South Fork his entire life I think.
Not to choose favourites or anything 😬 but Andrew is the star of the show! I do so appreciate his knowledge. It would be very interesting to know what you all do as a career. . .
Theres a lot of reasons why I love this channel, but I think one of the biggest ones is that every video reminds me of human curiousity and community. I always feel like every video has messages that I need to hear at that very moment, and during this video I found myself remembering growing up in a forest and wanting to explore every part of it. Wonderful video as always 💐
I am 70yrs old...I lived some of that sort of LITTON FARM life...there's nothing quite like it...the stove, the spring house , the garden, the old house, the barn...oh, for a simpler time...smile. You guys have no real idea how sweet it was....explore more.Ding how!
I did an overnight there about 4 years ago with some friends. It was early November. It was pouring rain and when we started out it was 48 degrees. Sometime in the night the rain stopped, but a cold front passed through and we woke up to 16 degrees. Most memorable miserable trip ever, but I still love the place-it is gorgeous down there.
As a new subscriber that's going back and bing watching all your past episodes I'm amazed that your gear has basically not changed and Andrew is still in a basic tarp! Your all about getting outdoors and prove that gear and equipment isn't as important as people make it out to be! And yet your video quality is the best of any outdoor channel I've ever seen and you must spend a lot on camera equipment!
Awesome video, I loved it. 😎👍 I totally Subscribed. 💯 10:08 I will only eat wild plants and vegetables that I know about. (It's dangerous if you don't know what to look for.) 1:02:25 this Dude REALLY Loves plants. 😂
When do you have time to live your regular life hiking camping editing doing the music all your little short film clips I absolutely love this channel and I am so glad that I found it. You have done a few of the trips that I have especially up in the Adirondacks that is where I live you guys are very relaxing and enjoyable to watch and I learned a lot from your channel to take with me on the trails , thank you thank you

I sure appreciate you gentlemen. I Live in East Tennessee, Knoxville, and have really enjoyed thru my adult life feeding lucky to live near two of most special places on this planet of ours. Look forward to more education, insight and inspiration.
Great trip and interaction, y'all. A 1000 years ago - I'm 82 now - my buddies at UCLA and long after would let me go where they went at my own speed but call after me to be sure I hadn't fallen off a cliff or been eaten by horned frogs - cerebral palsy's forever! : ). Effectively that made me know I'd missed nothing and lived a full life. FWIW that's the best gift anyone can get or give. Bluntly, I'm tied for luckiest dude who ever lived.
Gosh! I don't know how in the world I have missed this channel. I just discovered it this morning. So incredible. You guys do the most incredible job not to mention what wonderful personalities and characters that you all three have. Big South Fork is one of my favorite places to camp and hike. At 71 years old I still go tent camping there a lot. Thank you so much for your hard work that you do I can't wait to order a t-shirt. Maybe I will be fortunate enough to run into you guys somewhere on the trail it would be an honor just say hello and hopefully things will change so that I can shake your hands or do an elbow bump. Love you work. Please stay safe and healthy out there.
A little further north you could hike. the sheltowee trace (aka moonbow trail) north from Cumberland Falls towards laurel lake. One of the prettiest waterfalls in KY (dog slaughter falls).
I came across this video and decided to check it out, after it started I thought...ugh, it's an hour and a half. But it is a very easy to watch video. I search constantly for new places to hike and this has made my list! Thanks
Watching your videos reminds me of when I was younger. I still go out and explore. But I let life get me too busy and lost touch with all my friends. Take it from someone that knows. Never loose contact with your friends. Don't let life get you to busy.
Hoping to recognize some spots👍 A bunch of us just earned end-to-ender status by hiking the Sheltowee Trace, a trail which runs directly through The Big South Fork. Every year about 120 to 150 or so folks join the Sheltowee Trace Hiker Challenge and walk the 340 mile trail that extends from Morehead KY to Burnt Mill Bridge TN. It was an epic experience!
An amazing episode guys! The way you shot the fire segments was beautiful!🔥 The music during the cave explore was fantastic! I felt shades of Pat Metheny. The pine needle carpet is AA's red carpet. Adventure in the quilted forest! 🤣 The shoutouts once again shone. Thomas is the perfect Wilson. A big thank you to Sunjan for being the catalyst that started it all! 🙏 Well done guys! 👍
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this video. Some parts, I was in awe, some parts I laughed so hard it's a wonder I didn't pop some internal stitches. (Just had surgery) Loved it! You guys are going to keep me company while I heal up. ☺
This is the second video that I have watched of yours. Thank you for taking me along on your hikes. I love the woods and mountains. I love the way you identify plants trees and everything else. Love the crunchy leaves! I can almost smell that smoke myself. Thank you!
I just found this channel this morning. I've been binge watching all day. Everything about this channel is awesome. The videos are so well put together too. You've inspired me in more than one way. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures.
Loved the trip, got my AA fix for the day! Thought it was funny how everyone was eatin their own meals, so used to watching y'all share your food. We'll get back to that one of these days. To your next adventure!
Just to clarify (in case nobody else did) the word "clift" is a misspelling of "cleft", which is a fissure in a rock formation. Totally different thing from a cliff, so that sign was definitely wrong. Great video guys!

Just started watching your site. I immediately subscribed. It is the best travel one I've seen. You explain everything along the way to make us feel like we are right there with you. I also love the stories you tell. I almost lost it when he said fuzzy toilet paper. Keep up the great videos. Now I'm off to watch another of your videos. Stay safe all of you. Thumbs up.
Moving to Tennessee next month and watching this just made me even more excited!! Can't wait!!!! I'm definitely the one who sleeps in, snug as a bug in my hammock...need more people that like to get up and start the fire. Cheers to them and the Coors haha. Great video as always ya'll: ))
