Love you guys. I’m a retired mother of grown kids and I put your videos on at night and for some reason they give me so much comfort. I think they remind me of growing up in Georgia in the 60s. Looks just like my grandparents backyards. Times when I was so happy because all the people I loved and loved me were alive. Thank you all for your travels and for your thoughtful messages to us all no matter who we are. Great young men and I pray Blessings for you and your families.
I hiked the entire AT at 65. Life is never the same afterwards. As a thru hiker you don’t appreciate details of a slow hike like you did. The towns change a lot from affordable and friendly in the South to expensive and standoffish in the North. It was a great experience.
I’m beyond amazed you guys don’t have more subscribers, no other backpacking/hiking channels put in the same amount of production value as you guys do. Even the few that somehow have over a million are not half as entertaining as your guy’s content. It’s insane. I hope that never discourages you guys from making these awesome videos. Hoping you hit a million subscribers soon.
I thru-hiked the AT in '21 and let me tell you, reaching Harpers Ferry was quite the morale boost. Also to answer some of your questions. While that shelter is nice there are far nicer ones including a triple decker. Also what you describe going through each town and getting that slice of life from the locals was my favorite part. Glasgow was hiker trash heaven, a shelter with a hot shower in town and a cheap pizza place across the street. Waynesboro was the most hiker friendly where you couldn't get near a road without someone offering you a ride. Warwick was my favorite though, where thruhikers get to camp at the drive in and watch the movies for free. I'm surprised Andrew didn't remark on all the mulberry trees lining the bike path into HF. I ate so many on my way out of town I nearly made myself sick. I also stayed at that Quality inn Adjusting to life again has been a struggle and those hunger cues stick around for a long time. Thanks for bringing back pleasant memories of the greatest adventure of my life.
That shelter sounds amazing! Wow, somehow I didn't catch any mulberry trees while we were hiking, I usually am good about spotting them! Thanks so much for your comment and thanks for watching, and congrats on your thruhike :)
I've just got to say... Whomever did that shot, in slow motion, raising the camera, to show the Potomac... Excellent camera work!! You did her, the Potomac, justice with that shot.
Loving this video so much! It's great to see you four hiking together again ☺️ Just a suggestion, would it be possible to add your miles hiked in kilometres too? All the best from Australia! ❤️
As a Marylander, this is one of my favorite sections of the AT to hike due to the civil war history. To date, I’ve completed the section of the AT from Harrisburg, PA south to and including the Shenandoah National Park. I’m glad you all enjoyed this section.
The decking under the bridge is used a lot during construction, both to catch materials that might fall before they roll down the hill or get carried into streams or as a last resort safety measure for workers/inspectors. -a civil engineer. good video!
That "bike path" is actually the same road you started the trail on. It's access to a US government facility on top of the mountain. This is also where "Lamb's Knoll", the peak and an overlook, of the mountain is located. These are some beautiful areas of Maryland and West Virginia. Glad you guys enjoyed it! Keep up the great content!
Absolutely loved this fantastic adventure! A special thank you to Thomas for all the carefully researched interwoven history lessons! This was "chef's kiss" good.
So happy to see you guys back. Keep inspiring us to continue go outside and explore. My favorite is when you explain all the historical points and the plants, trees and natural resources on your trip. Thanks again for sharing your adventures and your friendship.
So beautiful. So I live in portland oregon northwest bend to alaska I call it rugged beauty. The East Coast where I've been to Vermont Maine and New Hampshire. And like where you guys are. I call it graceful beauty.. Just a beautiful beautiful video thank you so much
Wonderful video! 1/2 way point and love the comereraderie. It has a different vibe and thanks for showing the brief discord on tarp set up. Shows your human, we all want our way. Glad to see the 4 of you together
~ @49:30 You guys ask if its the nicest shelter on the AT. There's an absolutely HUGE nicer one called the Fontana Dam shelter. It's absolutely massive and has solar chargers and stuff. It's right before you enter the Smokies.
Good afternoon AdventureArchives Most Grateful for this. Love all your shared fun, historic educational works. Smiles and mostly happy tears too. Thankyou. 💜
Thanks for the history perspectives in this video, fellas. The turbulent history of America is trying to get pushed aside these days, but history is set in stone, quite literally sometimes like you showcased!
So beautiful thanks for taking us along as usually truly grateful for your adventures. You have taken us everywhere and so many kewl things I have seen that I would have never seen otherwise. Hike on guys love going with you from this side of the TV. God bless you all ❤❤❤❤
This was such a nice episode. They all are! But I love seeing places I've never been and have always wanted to go to come to life. Always enjoy your humor with all the added educational information in your episodes. I love that your videos are lengthy and so detailed. Thank you🌲💚 I'm SO EXCITED to see the upcoming Colorado episodes!!!
I'm a huge fan of the AT and this is the best episode yet. I'm an AT thru-hiker and Harper's Ferry is my fave trail town for all the reasons you guys covered so excellently. I like the way you guys keep the focus on nature, botany, hiking, camping, friendship, and food. It's a great combination and don't ever change it.
Loved the combination of nature and history on this episode. You guys should of hiked up Maryland Heights in Harpers Ferry its incredible view of the whole town. Great episode AA!!
This is so awesome I remember seeing you guys here back in April at the ed Garvey lodge and we talked for a bit in the lodge. have fun on your next adventures
I recently have hiked Round bald, Jane bald and grassy ridge bald. Maybe 4 or 5 weeks ago. There were about a dozen AT hikers on 2 seperate occasions. Same with Laurel Falls about 20 miles north of those "bald mountains." Not the Laurel Falls in The Great Smoky Mountains.
I often forget how priveledged I am to live so close to the Potomac. Hearing what yall had to say about its beatuy reminds me of how special it really is
2010 thru hiker here…the cabins you mentioned are rather nice. Rustic and simple but def worth staying at on a trip thru that area. Even though that part of the trail is pretty uneventful scenery wise, I remember it very very well. You are excited and emotional when you get that first glimpse of the confluence at HF, and put your feet across the “halfway” point. I’ve gone back many many times to check out the amazing history in more detail and to relive those moments. That was such a good day!
I'm glad that I came across one of your videos because now I am hooked! I've only hiked and camped once in my life and now because of you guys I'm suddenly enthralled with the idea of it. Feels like it would be good for my mental health.
Enjoyed the historical information in particular! Would love to hear more history in future episodes. Glad we finally got to see the group hike a section of the AT! 💜
This adventure was well worth waiting for. Great hike, narration, and beautiful scenery. You guys did it again. Now I can't wait for your next video and where you'll take us. Happy hiking and take care, from Pennsylvania.
I really enjoyed this video. The ending is really good but really enjoy you pointing out the plants and trees. When I was a teenager 55 years ago my grandfather showed me plants that are used for medicine. I got so busy with life that I didn’t get to hike as much as I liked. Keep up the joy in hiking.
We were just there in July 2023, hiking from Harper's Ferry to The Mason Dixon Line. I couldn't sleep last night, so I stayed up and watched this video. SUCH GREAT FOOTAGE!!! I was right back there with you! Thank you for your fine work! So glad I had insomnia 😊 😉
👋🏽👋🏽 I just found you today & watched this episode to start. As someone who split time between divorced parents in East Tennessee & Atlanta, GA, and now resides in the Shenandoah Valley as an adult; I geeked put over the way the four of you appreciate this beautiful part of our country. I was having a particularly hard day & was able to escape with you into the woods for a while and for that I'm grateful. You have a new fan!
Great video guys! If you are ever interested in another historical hike Michaux State forest in Pennsylvania has the exact midpoint of the AT, Gettysburg battle field and The US Army's WWII POW camp where thousands of high ranking German and Japanese officers were kept and interrogated during and after the war!
Everytime I see an AT video from you guys, I cross my fingers that one day y'all do a FULL AT through-hike and make a long ass film about it. The magnum opus !
My wife and I are regular players of Bethesda’s Fallout 76 which takes place in West Virginia. Harper’s Ferry is a major location in the game. So not only have we been enjoying you guys’ hiking through some of the most beautiful points on the AT we have been geeking out over seeing the locations in one of our favorite games in reality.
Shekoli (greetings) Awesome video you guys!! Hey Andrew I see you have an affinity for Pawpaw trees, in the Oneida language (Haudenosaunee) we call the Pawpaw tree Ohyahuwé which translates to “fruit -ohya-, forever -huwe-” or “the forever fruit” in the native concept of grammar also the phonetic pronunciation would be “oh yaa who way”, so I just wanted to share that with you, looking forward to your next video yawʌko! (great thanks)
I like the way you do your hikes and especially when telling about the plants and flowers and history and Taking your time the only thing I heat from other hikers is how much they are hurting and I know it is not easy but at least enjoy the hike quit complaining enjoy it
We truly enjoyed watching you hike through our back yards to HarpersFerry …. The Holiday in you stayed at in Brunswick MD … is right next to our local grocery chain Weis -- We travel thru the GapLand area as a short cut almost on a daily basis… we also watched the Glacier Nat park - Bear episode today and I have to say.. we will be following you all !!! I wanted to ask tho.. Andrew, how do you know so much about the plants ?
This was really an adventure through history and was not only engaging, but informative. An area steeped in America's history and love how it was woven into this trip with Thomas having such a civil war knowledge base. Micah's song was fantastic and the Trailer Park Boys shoutout was hilarious! 🤣 Sweatpants and drink in hand...Canadia!! Well done guys! 👏👍 Happy Birthday Kerry! @kezbot2 💜🎂
Interesting fact Robert Lee was sent by Secretary of War John B. Floyd to retake the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia. Thanks Guys for another great show with taking history and combining it with a walk in the woods. All The Best.
I feel the same way about these videos that Robby does toward those magnificent views; they never get old :) thank you for sharing love, natural knowledge and important history
You guys manage to keep consistent high quality all these years. Every video. I like getting up high but you’ve definitely stirred my interest in the AT. Thanks! Hope you make it to Alberta at some point we’ve got lots of great hikes and scrambles waiting for you!

How did Andrew learn botany? What books does he recommend reading?
Stop the voice over for naming what I type!

"I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery-air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, "This is what it is to be happy."

You can make a COFFEE-LIKE DRINK out of the dried seed pods on the Cleavers plant as well.
The exploration around Harpers Ferry was great
So good to see the whole gang
Your knowledge about Flora and fauna makes it even that much more enjoyable Great job guys😊
Wow! Such a relaxing and fun episode with the 4 guys. The ending play is awesome, wish Thomas can be part of those as well :)
Went every summer for 20 years!!!! Love that rock on the river… oh man now I got the NC/VA mountains to play in….

So cool you guys were on my stomping grounds. Harper’s Ferry & western Maryland are gorgeous.
Excellent video & great interaction between you all.

Loved the lesson of John Brown and tying in Thoreau was new to me. The lesson goes marching on.
The Princess Bride and TPB bits at the end got me cracking up 😂
