Thanks a lot for watching and safe journeys!
Since you're counting countries, Gabe, what are the rules? For example:
1) I went to parts of the USSR in the 80s that are now five different countries. How does that count?
2) Can I count a country where I changed planes but did not leave the airport?
3) Do England, Scotland and Wales count as separate countries?
4) Is the UAE one country or many (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, etc)?
5) Do colonies (like Gibraltar) count as countries, or as part of their colonizer country (e.g. UK)?
Hard to say about countries that have broken up, since I haven't experienced that. But otherwise I can answer all the other questions by saying that I am conservative about counting countries. I go by the official UN list of nations: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_states_of_the_United_Nations
England, Wales, Scotland and northern Ireland are all part of the United Kingdom, so I count that as one country. Same with the UAE, one country. I don't count colonies (US Virgin Islands, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao). I don't count disputed countries that aren't recognized by the UN (Taiwan, Kosovo). And I don't count airports as being in the country. I have to officially go through customs and show someone my passport. The one exception to that was Vatican City, which is a separate country, but they never asked to see my passport when I went on the tour.
airports don't count!
@@jaymeese7714 I count airports, but only if I go through customs/immigration, at which point I'm gonna go spend some time outside anyway.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos i count Taiwan as a country! They've stamped my passport etc...
@@GabrielTravelerVideos England wales Scotland and N Ireland have all got seperate governments so they can be included as 4 separate countries
Quick tip: When you see beggars in this part of Europe: They are professionals, part of a semi-criminal organisation probably. They divide the best spots, work in shifts etc... Don't give them money. Real refugees or other people in genuine need are supported by the government in various ways and they don't need to beg to survive. They get housing, language courses, medical insurance and all that to help them set up a life and get a normal job.
I fell for this with the mute women in Cologne.. never again! 😂
I watch a lot of your videos and really enjoy them. I’m disabled and unable to travel so thank you for sharing! Brussels looks amazing!
Great song 'First Day' by Samuel Scott McCumber. Made the dark grey rainy scenes look and feel romantic. Looking forward to seeing the sunshine in Luxembourg ☀️🙏👒😊
Europeans are waiting for Corona to ease down so that they can escape to the sun, and Gabe left Mexico to buy a Turkish kebab in Luxemburg. hehe. I admire your adventurous spirit though.
Variety is the spice of life. Bad weather is underrated.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos, try Alsace (Colmar, Strasbourg, Riquewihr, Eguisheim). One of the most colourful and fairytale-like part of Europe that is also not far from Luxembourg. ;) And European Parliament is also in Strasbourg.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos, if you want some snow, you can also go to the French Alps (especially Chamonix and Aiguille du Midi are amazing) after Luxembourg (and fairytale Alsace is in exactly that direction). Or you can fly to Norway to see maybe some Northern Lights in Tromso. ;)
A dark cold day can make me depressed a bit..I hope it’s all smooth sailing for you Gabe
The REAL expensive part of Luxembourg is DELUXEmbourg 😂😂😂
Too be able to walk again, how great that would be. I wasted my life working now i grow old alone and poor. Thanks for sharing your life with us all. Good luck on all your future travels. Enjoy
A new Gab upload always brightens my day 👍
So nice to see you in my birth country ☺It is a little country but don't underestimate it, it has a lot to discover. Enjoy Gabriel!
Casi 1 de cada 5 Luxemburgueses son de procedencia o descendencia portuguesa. 😲😲😲
Me too, stayed 2 months in Cancun Mexico. Cut my trip short as I was tired of the tourist vibe. Came back to the USA enjoying some cold weather.
Man.. what a great channel this is! 👍🏼
I am really enjoying your new adventure! The touristy beach scene is overdone. Keep up the great vlogs!
Awesome video! I made the 200th like. You make traveling in the rain look so cozy!
great video production Gabriel, well done👍hope to meet you on my travels some day
On the appearance of the Smurfs: Belgium sees itself as a center of comic art. Even the new Belgian passport features various comic characters on the pages. Might confuse some customs officials. And looks almost as colorful as the US passport :-)
The smurf artist himself is Belgian!
The other fabulous classic comic art character is Tintin.
We are having this kinda weather since almost 4 month now in central Europe 😞 Anyway, welcome back to Europe!
I am an Expat in the Caribbean and I can assure you, the hot weather becomes tiresome after a while. I'm always happy when going back home to the drizzly streets of London!
Just having my morning coffee, with my floor heater blaring. South Texas has just had 3 nights of freezing, but I'm still enjoying your winter video. I'm sure I'll be having a beer with you, from a very warm place, shortly😂😂😂
New adventures here we come🤙🏽
Hope you visit Switzerland, it’s beautiful in winter
Delightful weather all over Europe at the moment.
Namur was actually a place to visit ! Lots of beautiful old structures like the Citadelle of Namur. In the summer there's a beautiful track that you can do by kayak in Dinant. Beautiful city !
hello Gabs, its nice to see you again!!! keep traveling my brother!!! today, i am one of the first people to watch and comment on your video!!!! KEEP SAFE
Gabe your subs are moving fast. Feels like just a few weeks ago you crossed 500k, now you're up another 27k so fast.
SMURFS! btw Not random they were created by a Belgian artist,Nice to see you back in Europe although I am an Englishman in the USA I have family in Belgium, love all your videos bon voyage! ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome! Welcome back across the pond! Currently in Andalusia. ;)
Excited to see more videos!
Btw Gabriel you shouldn't have given money to that guy. Nobody knows if he comes really from Syria but anyway he was probably a scammer as he was wearing a fake paper with the logo of the Brussel's government.
Also, they wanted to sell you the round trip because in Belgium during the weekend there's a 50% discount on train travel for everybody, so the standard and round trip cost the same!
Highly recommend Patagonia gabe! Just went there and I’m sure you would absolutely love it. Not sure if you have been there before but couldn’t find anything there on your channel
No, I haven't been to that part of South America yet. I've been meaning to watch your videos from there when I get the chance, it looks epic.
I'd second that! And Brazil too - you guys do a great job there.
Hey Gabriel how you doing. Love your videos. I'm wondering what software do you use to edit your videos?
@@epicgaming683 Videopad.
You're Patagonia travel videos have been through the roof! I can't wait for when you upload the next one.
Thank you Gabriel, it is winter so some countries won't all be sunshine 😀☀️, nice to see though! Take care and keep the videos coming 😎👏❤🙏
FYI, seeing the Smurfs in Belgium is not random. The comic strip originated there, and I recently saw a story that the new Belgian passports will include some of the country's famous cartoon characters, including the Smurfs.
We’re playing where in the world is Gabriel. Next country is Luxenbough!
I love this video. Being in a strange city in the rain is kinda what it's all about, as we all try to make sense of this world of ours. The fortress in Lux. is built into those gorges, like the one you crossed.
Hi! Gab, it was a great travel. Love watching your vlogs. From the Phil. More vlogs from ü. 😉 🌺🌺🌺
Listening to that song on the train made me so nostalgic….missing EU so much
You definitely have to come back and visit Dinant (Next to Namur which is also a great city to visit !) ! Dinant is a small town but one of my favourites of Belgium. You can have great walks, a great church, a citadel that overhangs the whole city, visit the caves, a small cruise on the river. Really, I went there 3 times in 4 years, it's clearly worth a visit !
If I could think at other places you may like to visit : Gent (fr: Gand), Brugge (nl: Bruges), Mons (nl : Bergen), Tournai (nl: Doornik), Leuven (fr : Louvain), La Roche-en-Ardenne (very small but incredibly charming).
Smooth footage, good explanation of place’s and restaurant’s, food’s name. That kebab must be tasty !
Love it.. keep crawling! Belgium is the home of the smurfs!
Smurfs are a Belgian creation, so is TinTin. Belgium is a center of comic arts in Europe with a long popular tradition of them. Maybe you were near the Museum of Comic Arts which is a top attraction in Brussels. I grew up on Asterix and Obelix so France and Parc Asterix outside Paris is my comic Mecca in Europe.
I grew up on Tintin and Asterix & Obelisk as well, also Elfquest. Didn't realize the Smurfs were invented there.
Luxembourg! Enjoy your trip & be safe, Gabriel angel traveler, I just arrive in Belgium today...
Wow, it really doesn’t feel like you’ve been away from Europe for 90 days yet. How time flys.
Not quite, I was in Iceland in December. But it was 90 days before that when I was in Europe for the summer.
Thanks for the nice video. I have had the chance to live in Brussels for eight years. The places you are showing are all very familiar, as well as, the restauran where you ate stump.
Easy, you are going to Luxemburg.
So nice to see my country Belgium tru youre eyes's!! Nice content!
Next time you're in Belgium try to fit in Antwerp, would gladly give you a tour of the city!
Hallo Gabriel, I'm from Antwerp Belgium and if you are coming back to Belgium on (1 of your trips) you can stay at my house. Antwerp is a port city, a bit like Brugge. Love your videos.
Grey rainy days make me a little depressed...hope you get some sunny days real soon! Cheers from Canada!
@gabrieltraveler I am currently in Tromso northern Norway, you should visit this beautiful place, lots of snow and I seen for 2 days in a row the northern lights. Highly raccomanded.
Amazing, I've wanted to go there. Thanks for the update.
Hey Gabriel, that music on the train and getting off the train was talking about you. It described you to a T. In fact you should use it as your theme song. Lol
Unfortunately I am stuck in Thailand and not able to leave or I would out there trying to catch up with your country count. I miss traveling but if I leave Thailand it is a nightmare to get back in. One salutation to that is to hire a law firm in Thailand to do all the paperwork for you but it is very expensive and I just can't afford it and travel at the same time.
My health is another concern, at 74 I have the spirit but the body isn't as strong as it used to be. My traveling days my be not over yet but I must slow down. Maybe 2 or 3 countries a year in my future.
Oh, I almost forgot. If I remember correctly "THE SMURFS" originally came from Belgium and was in French and was translated into English for the American Market.
I wish you well my friend and travel safe.
Gabriel consistently has some of the best music on an YT vlog.
Name and artist of the song please. Thanks.
Happy morning, GT🤗
Have fun in Europe Gabe! Looking forward to this series. Stay safe out there!
Luxembourg 🇱🇺 is the only place in the world where public transport is totally free for natives, foreigners and tourists
Built by tons of companies who want to evade taxes.
Hi Gabriel, A cold damp rainy evening good night for a book or movie I'm surprised you haven't considered going back to Grecce I'm sure it's on your mind. Of course, you're tacking your time traveling around Europe I don't see you staying in Luxemburg very long maybe a few days it seems more of just going to another location you haven't been to.
Hello, a little expensive the room in Brussels. I'm watching . Thank you Was there turmoil in Mexico. I saw some cartel issues in Zacatecas and other places....
The Smurfs were created in Belgium.
Hey, love your videos from around the world, glad to see you in Luxembourg too where I live and work the last few years. If you need any help let me know !
Great video. It is cold and rainy, but it was beautiful. I look forward to learning more about Luxembourg. I did not realize that Luxembourg had a unique German-speaking dialect.
Us Belgians and Luxemburgians (?): just lived through that Sunday with the most awful weather in months
Gabe: "Yeah the tropical scene, it gets old."
Come on man 😅
Brussels to Luxembourg by train
Journey time: 3h 7m
Price: From €21.50
Distance: 117 miles (188 km)
Frequency trains per day: 34
Haha, yeah. Easy guess.
Oops, video went further. He revealed it.
@@ryanp8925 I guessed it before reveal, when he said price - 22€
Gabriel, Hello From Georgia/Tbilisi , we miss you
The people of Luxembourg are some of the most multilingual in the world. That is why the magazine stands have dutch, French, German, Luxembourgish , and English magazines. Petty much everyone there speaks 3 or more languages.
Good to see you on the move.
Brussels and Luxembourg such beautiful places to visit. Boy can they be dreary this time of year in such weather. You could say the same about a lot of places. I very much doubt that bloke in the station was from Syria. Just a thought. Luxembourg well placed for your next move ! There is a very interesting ww2 military cemetery in Luxembourg City. Luxembourg /Belgium /German border area not far away. Battle of Bulge region from WW2. Fascinating region.
Enjoying your videos. Thanks.
Yes you are correct I think he was a gypsy because his accent was Romanian I can catch them easily lol 😂
yup...that was a gypsy lol
@@Curling_Rack Gabe seems to give money away a lot always giving to Buskers. i never give money to anyone!
The cold and wet don't seem too bad. Greetings from Vancouver, Canada. I know you stayed here for a while I think in summer 2020 to wait out the pandemic. It's OK... Vancouver is nice but it's pretty boring. We Vancouverites are so used to our cold, wet miserable weather. But given that last year we had terrible conditions in succession-- the smoke from local and faraway wildfires, a heat dome/heat wave with awful air and then during Christmas season an usual lot of snow -- I'm never going to curse our Vancouver rains. I don't have to shovel rain and our rains clean the air and keep the dust down. Just curious where your friend Francesca is going next after Mexico. It's always nice to see you meet up with your travel friends.
Yep, March of 2020: ruclips.net/video/hwWnz3VQ3sA/видео.html
International T-Mobile for the win --took it all over the world. Hello from Playa del Carmen!
Nice, enjoy.
Gabriel, thanks for introducing me to Samuel Scott McCumber. Great music.
Want snow but not a super-expensive place like Norway? Go to Northern Sweden! Many cool small cities there, like Östersund which I visited last year, or why not Kiruna, the city above the Arctic Circle, or Luleå at the coast with it's frozen archipelago where you can walk over the ice to the different islands (they are ice roads approved by the authorities). All 3 easily reached by train from Stockholm!
Very small country but really beautiful 👍😁good job bro 👏😁
never been there but been to Brugge..when i think of Belgium thats where i want to go!
Amazing Gabriel keep exploring and visit Amsterdam soon ..
Yep, everything is finally back to normal here again!
This weekend will be back to normal everything!
It's fun when you do videos where others are trying to guess where you are, I liked the turkey one way back. Great videos over the years!
Thanks so much for your videos Gabe. I had a serious bout with Covid, recovered and recently had a second bout with Covid. Not as serious the second time because I was vaccinated and had a booster but now once again fighting health problems and am Bedfast. Your videos keep me going. I look forward to each and everyone. I am not able to travel but enjoy seeing the world through your eyes. You have no idea how much I appreciate you and what you do. I pray for your safety. Stay safe and THANK YOU.
@Peregrino Had it before there was a vaccine
Nice one. I weirdly quite like travelling in that kind of weather. Only real disadvantage is that luggage gets a little heavier what with all the extra layers and waterproofs!
On another note, I had to google baklava. For some reason I never forget that's what a Filipino guy I worked with kept saying when I was trying to teach him to say balaclava 😆 (Actually we were in Antwerp, Belgium and he wasn't used to the cold!)
Nice job stretching out the reveal. I was expecting a long train trip, but as soon as you said how much you paid for the ticket I knew where it had to be. Your 79th country was my very first European country, more than 35 years ago. (Flew Newark to L, with a plane change in Reykjavik, but didn't go through immigration there, so I don't count it.)
I really enjoyed seeing all the blind friendly footpaths, especially near public places! It is something my wife and I want to know. Thank you again for sharing your experience.
The grand duchess of Luxembourg was born in Cuba. Maria Teresa Mestre.
Great views from the train and lovely song. Welcome to Luxembourg.👍😊
Nice vlog mr Gabriel, beautiful place there you gone, thank you very much for this fantastic mobile😏trip!Mr Gabriel what's the city/ county?
Luxembourg during the summer is great, really hot weather and people get out and about. But winter time...people work and go home. Soooo...could be the quietest place in Europe around now. It's expensive city alright. But it is the center of Finance in Europe and also HQ for the European Commission I think. Enjoy the road trip, but damn you surprised us with such a major u turn from sunny Mexico. Everyone here in Europe is trying to get to the sun this time of year 😅
Great video Gabriel, love the suspense! There are some great castles in Luxembourg. Try Vianden. Idea for next destination, maybe Strasbourg. It is a very lovely city. Thanks for going into the rain on a dismal evening just to make a video.
I hope you get som sunshine in Belgium!
nice tune. Happy Dayze
I see that you were able to avoid the McDonald's and Pizza Hut! :)
Nice. That's unbelievably quite though. Why is that? Can't just be the rain surely.....
If your thinking of new places to go gabe that will have snow you could consider the Lofoten Islands up in the arctic circle of Norway or have you been there already
Hi Gabe, all the destinations you read in the train station are Belgium cities, greetings from Genk 👌. Unfortunately you picked the day with the worst weather of the past week...
Luckily the weather was much better the next day: ruclips.net/video/pJUtD28K3BA/видео.html
You should go to Vianden castle for sure!
let's all give a like to Gabriel! it'll help him with the YT algorithm
Seems like a very stylish city.
5:50 Not so random ;-)) . It's their birthplace / hometown. Peyo was born in Schaerbeek(Brussels)
Have you explored any of the Baltic countries yet? Lithuania or Latvia are relatively unknown and look interesting.
Yes, I've been to all of the Baltic countries, but just to the capitals: ruclips.net/user/gabejedmosearch?query=Baltic
Enjoy
Luxembourg?….That’s my guess. Safe travels 👍
Good guess.
You suprise us agine haha 😂
Yes why you left suny Mexico for cold Europé Gabriel 👍 😀
Nice Tour of belgium
If you are still floating around Europe in 6 weeks you should consider Ireland again , but this time for St.Paddy’s day 👍🇮🇪
Very interesting place, a but gloomy but Id love to see the old part of town.
Gabriel, Luxembourg and Lichtenstein are the only 2:European countries I haven't been to! You beat me to it but I hope to visit this spring and will follow the trail you just blazed! !
I was in Liechtenstein last fall and it was really fine. Pricy pricy! But I will go back in summer. Enjoy!
Very close is also LIECHTENSTEIN between Austria and Switzerland. It is an independent country too, and NOT part of the EU. It is tiny and everybody is rich there. It would be your 80ths country, or have you been there?
I passed very close to it in this video: ruclips.net/video/r0fMJwrLG6w/видео.html But no, I haven't actually been there. I'd love to see it but that would mean a pretty long journey across Switzerland, so I'm not sure that will happen on this trip.
Found out about your Chanel from Harald baldr Adventure Time
I guessed Luxembourg Gabriel!
