Satan tempted him to betray Jesus and Judas did exactly that. The sad thing is JUDAS could have been redeemed like Simon peter after he denied knowing Jesus but JUDAS despaired and thought he could never be forgiven so he hung himself.

Oh, Heavenly Father, I place my family and me under your protective gaze. Reveal any hidden adversaries and shield us from the spiritual battles that surround us. Shower those struggling with jealousy with your love and abundance, turning their hearts toward gratitude. Thank you for the discernment that sharpens my awareness of your word. Grant me the courage to follow your commands obediently. Thy will be done in every aspect of my life. Amen. 🌺🙏

Judas believed that the old prophecies would be fulfilled! He believed that Jesus would free the Jews from the Romans and establish a Kingdom like David did in the past! That the old ways would be reinstated and the sacrifices in the Temple would start again! But, when Jesus teachings deviated from those beliefs, Judas started to realize that Jesus wasn't going to fulfill the prophecies he believed in and decided to deliver Jesus to the Romans because he felt betrayed! After he started to truly understand the teachings of Jesus, he realized what he had done, got full of despair and took his own life! He's adherence to the past and lack of understanding of God's plan made him betray the Messiah!
    Good video! Thanks Brother!

One theory I heard was indeed that Judas was doing Jesus a favor, he thought that if Jesus was put in front of the authorities, he would be forced to show his glory.

Yeah, when you leave plot holes in your story like “wait, if he was ‘possessed’ or ‘that was the unalterable plan then how is he morally or ethically responsible?” you get things like The Gospel of Judas being written by other groups that lived during the same time the authors of the 4 traditional gospels wrote them. It has just as much claims to authenticity as any other “scripture” written because the source material and intent are the same. Sounds about right for the logic in that book, two people screw it up for the entire race (which we know now is not our true origin story) and the one guy that sets the events in motion to “fix it” is evil?

Your question, Why did Judas betray Christ? It was the envy and jealousy and the hate of the Pharisees who whispered in Judas ear and offered him money, just like the serpent did in the book of Gen.3:1-5 that deceived Eve. And it says in the book of Luke 22:3 then entered Satan into Judas surname Iscariot , being of the number of the twelve. V6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him ( Christ Jesus). And just for your information it was the Jews and the Roman Soldier's ( the Gentiles) who betrayed Christ and then ( Luke 22:47-48; 23:1-21 Crucify him. So both The Jews betrayed Christ and the Roman Soldier's = Gentiles Crucified= killed Christ ! And it was all done because of the envy and the jealousy and the hate and the deception of the Jews first and then the Gentiles were the ones who actually Crucified Christ on a tree/Cross.

Judas had to betray Jesus! That was his fate. Just as Jesus knew someone had to do it, and would be riviled, by all the other disciples. Judas gave the silver to the Jews who bought land with it! Judas would have been redeemed but the strain of his actions were to much to bear!

So if it has to happen, then Judas is In hell, or no? Because he didn't have a choice correct? Was he morally responsible?

Why did Judas Betray Jesus? Whoever came up with the original story thought it was a good idea I guess. Like most of the bible, the origins are a mystery although many of the stories can be found in other religious writings with varying details. Read as widely as possible. It's fascinating to see the commonality across most religions. One thing becomes obvious - the bible is useless as an historical document.

Judas Iscariot never was saved. He was a devil from the beginning. He wanted things go this way and when Jesus rebuked him he let the sin of Pride take over. After he betrayed him he was remorseful and the threw the blood money back. Instead of belief he took his own life. He died lost. Jesus would have forgiven him but there was no hope.

He was saved, there is no such thing as once saved always saved, ppl can be taken out of the lambs book of life, Judas was given an opportunity to change but greed took over. Also if he wasn't saved, he wouldn't have been anointed to cast out devils and heal the sick, so it's dangerous to have this level of Gods anointing and still abuse his gifts. Jesus does tell many of his ppl, i never knew you...
God only anoint his children therefore he was saved. Ur being taught another gospel..
Also Judas was repentant and did believe, he couldnt believe he turned Jesus in, an innocent man/Saviour, he may have been remorseful but he was not granted repentance from God, which lead to his own death.
Jesus said, he was of the devil, Jesus also said that the day will come he wouldn't wanted to have been born, because how Judas betrayed him.
You need to read the bible for urself, what ur writing is not biblical, sounds like ur just regurgitating what ur pastor has been preaching, many pastors don't teach the true gospel, many twist and add to scripture putting their own opinions in the mix as well.
Jesus is coming soon, are u ready, does ur church teach u we are in the last days? That the 2nd seal of Revelation has been opened?
      Ps: Don't take theMark.

Jesus and Judas was in cahoots together. If not for Judas, Jesus would never have been found out, and sentenced to die on a cross for our sins. It's sad really. You can't help but to feel bad for Judas, his guilt led to him hanging himself. It's a crazy story when you really think about it in detail.

I don't think Judas was a "traitor " he was fulfilling the prophecy,he was a vessel to making the sacrifice possible..God saved Jesus from Herod when he was young, surely he could've saved him from being crucified, Judas shouldn't be the villain of this sacrifice but a vessel..

Judas was there because God wanted him there it's all a story. But people that are religious can't see it. Judas was guilty of nothing god put him there to do a job. It makes me laugh when you go about the loving caring God. remember God hardening pharaos heart? And then what Passover time and all the children were killed. Don't talk to me about a loving God
