Thanks for the memories, now living in Scottsdale, AZ and America for the past 39 years, you are riding my old stomping grounds in the UK. I have ridden many motorcycles (Goldwing, Triumph, Harley’s, BMW, etc) and on my third RT, which I lick up next week in Lakewood, CO. Ride safe my friend 👍

Just found your channel - I was interested in a BMW 1250RT and came upon your review totally by accident but so glad I did. Well done by the way, a very down to earth and honest review. Hello from South Carolina, USA!
If you think its sad giving up your Honda wait untill age forces you to give up riding alltogether. This is the first bike video i have watched since i gave up a year ago, so please enjoy every chance you get to ride.Nice bike,
Congrats on the new bike. Same colour as my 1200RT. I get around 300 miles to the tank but i have 4500 miles on mine. Its a fantastic machine and still amazed at how agile it is given its size and weight. The packtalks sound great. Had same problem with my freecom 4 mic in my helmet rubbing on my lips but soon re positioned and its all good now. Enjoy the new RT. You'll get to 600 miles in no time. Looking forward to more vids. All the best.
I swapped a deaville(red) for a r1200rt as well when the liquid cooled came out. RT is quite a machine but the bike I miss most is the deaville and I still miss it the most, wished I’d kept it.
I Agree, my Deauville has only been gone a few weeks and I miss her already. I am sure I will get attached to the new bike eventually. Thanks for watching Ian.
Nice one guys! Always sad letting an old friend go....but I doubt the Deauville would have seen much use with that beauty sat in the garage, and you can't ride more than one at once! Enjoy your new RT Paul! Ray, I've said it before but you look so much more comfortable on that 1200 than you ever did on the 14 ....to my eyes at least OK, bring on the Spring weather!
Cheers Paul, yeah sad to see the old girl go. Your right, I have said the same to Ray, he does look more comfortable on the 1200. Thanks for watching Paul.
Hi thanks for your videos I would just like to say congratulations on your new bike I hope you get on well together. And i get the fact that you are a little sad to see your old Honda go after so many good miles on her. So safe riding and have lots of fun.
I have a 2015 1200 RT LE (LC) bought new. Love most of it apart from the gearbox. Standstill into 1st is terrible, as is into 2nd and 3rd. Once moving the pro shift is ok. Gave up requesting BMW to sort it. Would i buy this new 1250, if the gearbox is sorted now, yes.
Cheers Bob, The gearbox is a smooth as my Honda. The only problem I am having is with the position of the side stand. There have been a few occasions were I have knocked it into 1st . It seems to be too close to the gear selected. Anyway I am sure I will get used to it. Thanks for watching Bob.
Hi Paul, I have watched all your video's re the FJR and RT. I have a 2014 RT LC with less than 25,000 on the clock, mechanically it's great but I have to say the paint finish is starting to show signs of bubbling in several places so beware. I am in the process of looking at a change, BMW not helpful with, my advice keep an eye on the finish.

Did you connect your GPS? I wonder what the speedo says and if there is a difference in the bikes' speedo and the gps' speed indicator since they have their own sensors but communicate with each other.

Oh, and the body panel that covers the battery never ever fitted properly, 2 screws ok, the press in bung thing never ever engaged, same response from BM
Cheers Bob, glad you mentioned that. I was going to take it off to fit my optimizer cable. I will get BMW to do that for me as they offered to do it on the first service.
Think of it as rebirth. Double sad though, parting with you Deauville and parting with all that money. You’ve got top of the range now. Don’t drop it. World’s your oyster now. The RTs also look good without luggage. I can recommend the Facebook RT owners group.

I get over 50 mpg out of my 1200 GS so I'd of thought you'll get similar. Not sure what your fixation is with the speedo accuracy, but you could always get the Nav6 and have the speed on there in big bold numbers from the satnav rather than the bike if you wanted to. Loved the banter between you two so I've subscribed. You could buy Ray one of those stretchy cable things to put on his disc lock after posting his mistake on here- I would :-)
Cheers pal, believe it or not the yellow cord to the disc lock was attached. Nav 6 confirm the Speedo is ok. Just felt so slow. There again it is so smooth compared to the Honda. Thanks for watching pal.
