    Nice colour 👌
I've got a manual with quick shifter on my Gun Metal NT1100.
It's 2 years old this November but I've already got 20,000 miles on it! I only ride for pleasure.
I'm only in Heswall so will give you a wave when I see you 😅.
    Enjoy.

Your comments at the start re the DCT reflected my Honda dealers comments.
I'm in the process of trading my Goldwing for a NT1100. Went to my dealer, looked and rode the DCT model and asked to buy it, the response I got back............ "Don't! you'll regret it in the long run". After a long chat on the topic I got where he was coming from, NZ's twisty, back roads just don't suit DCT and I'd get sick of being in the wrong gear or having to use manual all the time. So, advice taken on board, I ordered a manual NT1100. Looking forward to it arriving.
PS: Was quite chuffed my dealer (I've bought other bikes off them) was more interested in my riding style/needs and sold me on a bike more suited than simply what they had sitting on the floor, he could've easily sold me one of the stock DCT's they had, nice to know some dealers still have customer focus.

Strange how people can have such different experiences. In my opinion the DCT is the best thing to happen to motorcycling since the invention of the wheel 😊

Cracking choice of bike. After the last 2 decades on naked bikes I decided I wanted something with some comfort and distance ability so picked up a lightly used 2022 NT1100 (manual with QS and full Voyage pack) a couple of months back. Being very very different to my previous bikes - this one is physically much larger and heavier - I was a little unsure about my choice of the NT. Yesterday I returned home from an 880 mile trip across the south of England from Essex to Cornwall and back. It absolutely confirmed that the NT is a fantastic machine and 100% the right choice for me. It totally destroyed the long motorway and A road hauls (355 miles both ways, in just over 6 hours each) and whilst I was in Cornwall the NT performed far far better than expected on the tight rural back roads and coastal roads .... it handles way better than it has any right to and was a great laugh to throw about down the lanes I know very very well (I lived in Cornwall for over 30 years). The trip proved to me, without doubt, that the NT1100 is an awesome bike easily capable of taking the rider long distances with no fuss and providing plenty of fun and laughs on the twisty roads when you get to the destination. I hope you come to enjoy yours as much as I do mine 😉

Interesting point about the DCT. You tried it, gave it a fair shout and then decided on the manual option after due consideration. Your experience will be useful to other bikers. I'm certainly sticking to manual. All part of the engagement and fun.

I agree with you on the DCT part. Had a nc750x with dct for 2 months, it was always in what i found to be the wrong gear. Usually much too high. Shifting weirdly in corners, sometimes going up/down/up/down when u are not keeping a constant speed, and in general it really wasnt for me. Not saying dct is bad but it certainly has flaws.

I had a DCT version of the NC750X. It was not new but very low miles. I loved the DCT but it had a habit of sticking in 6th gear. I used to have to stop the bike, hold the front brake on hard, and rock the bike forwards and backwards to clunk it back down through the gearbox.
Several bikes later I bought another NC750X as I did enjoy the type of bike the NC was, but this time I got a manual version and I love it. The fuel economy blows me away. On a recent 150 mile trip to Dorset I sat at exactly 60mph all the way and it returned 108.4 mpg. Staggering. Even 'making progress' on the return journey it managed 75mpg (and I really was 'making progress')..

Hi Paul, Congratulations on your new purchase and I'm sure you are going to enjoy it. I recall having a test ride on a VFR1200dct (Bill Smiths) and for the exact same reason I never went for the auto I went for an manual. I recall it changing down on the A534, when I did not want it too and hence, I went for the manual.

Congratulations on the new bike Paul. I think you made the right choice with the blue that's the one I'd have gone for. Lets hope she's a keeper, it seems you have been struggling to find the right 'girl' for you 🙂 I can't help but remember the old days you had with the Deauville NT700, can't remember you ever having a bad word to say about her. Looking at her MOT history she's not been shown a lot of love, but she's recently passed her MOT and now showing 62,600 miles. Probably good for another 60K with a bit of love. 😍 RSM8 and lets hope we get some sun soon. Plymouth to Santander best part of £1K now 🙁

Nice bike, I had the VFR1200 DCT, nothing wrong with DCT apart from adding weight to the bike.
One thing I did notice was no tingling in the left hand when I went for a manual bike, could it be a form of cramp because your hand isn’t doing much ?
I got the impression you’d lost faith in the last one, better luck this time.

@@davidmatthews3093 When the bike came to me it didn't have a quick shifter, I purchased one from Honda and fitted it, the gear change is now just a tap on the lever, so nice in traffic not constantly de-clutching, more comfortable for a pillion too as the gear change is smoother, for me a quick shifter any day over the DCT, have you rode with a QS? If so what did you think?
