This is a great review by someone that really knows the older model. So they can provide valuable insight not just specs. I have the current model and now plan to upgrade to get the IMU, improved DCT, adaptive suspension, and the new screen plus I love the new styling especially in blue! Note you do not need to have a headset to use Carplay. When prompted to connect a headset hold down the ‘back’ button on the left bar for a few seconds. Then Carplay will start up without a headset.
Would suit my needs perfectly...but honda sold me the wonderful benefits of Shaft drive on my vfr1200, (they were right) and now I've got to forget that. I'm sure I will, but not quite yet. Great update Tony, thank you.
Great review. I'm upgrading my 2023 DCT for the new 2025 DCT. Can't wait. Screen was a niggly issue, now fixed. DCT was good already, now even better (Sport II 😉). Switchgear is easy to use. Yes, wireless CarPlay would be nice, but I can live without it. Thanks to Honda for listening to us. Role on February.
Excellent video, l like the none boring description, you keep it simple 👍 I love Honda motorcycles , they can be bland but l prefer that agricultural look, like early BMW, practical, sensible. The NT 1100CC looks and preforms wonderfully, would l prefer shaft, probably but at these prices l could happily clean my chain.
Outstanding video, i really enjoyed that! It looks loke such a good iteration on the original, they've addressed the issues i had with the earlier model (whuch ultimately stopped me buying it, and now I'm not in a position to). It absolutely amazes me that Honda wont sort that car play situation, it's just software!
Great review Tony of a much underated bike. I think its helped that you rode the original, and the changes sound all the better. Could be on a lot of peoples radar if they ride one. Thank you
I was in the market for an NT last year and it was your video that persuaded me to head for my test ride, all the other testers didn't do the bike justice, subsequently i purchased it on the spot, loved the bike but as is well reported there are some small niggles with it, so it's at the dealership now traded in, and the new 2025 model odered for 1st March........ thanks for your encouraging review im now looking forward to my new steed and counting the days 👍
You just need a £5 USB Bluetooth dongle to plug in. This will make the CarPlay work without need for a Bluetooth helmet. This is what I’ve done on my Wing.Simples ! Just pair the dongle as rider headset. Note-the dongle needs to be A2DP compliant.
Nice introduction to this new model. It’s very Pan European looking at the front, I’d love to see it with a shaft drive to make it a true tourer - maybe that’s just me though. Otherwise it looks a great bike. 👍
I wanted the earlier model until I rode it, the DCT was great, riding position great, handling great...but the engine was just not fun, it went OK but just felt a bit flat, I bought a 800 v strom as a stop gap and it's a great bike, look forward to trying the new NT.
Hello. Very honest and fair first contact and sincere. Best so far... Question: Which colour do you prefer being their near do the bike and natual sun hitting... thanks
Hi, just wondering about 'D' mode on this new version... Reviewers of the outgoing model commented that the gearbox changed up a little too quickly in that mode, causing the engine to protest a bit when accelerating. Did you try out this mode, and if so, was there any marked difference? Great review btw... 👍
Hello Tony! Could You compare the windshield of the previous model with the new 2025 one? I'm not talking about shifting it, but about wind protection. The 2024 model has got wider windshield especially on the top of it. It's about 7 cm wider but it's a lot. And a few riders mentioned that the new one in the top position gives some buffeting in your helmet. The old one was perfect for me and it was closer to the rider`s head... Could You give your opinion about it. Thanks a lot for the video!
No problem. I didn’t find that much difference. The screen is a little narrower, but the front end of the bike is also a different shape. On the 2025 as you may be able to see in the video, the higher you lift the screen the more upright it sits, which means the overall coverage is at least the same as previously.
Not true. I've got a 23 nt1100 and when I plug my phone in , android auto launches and asks me if I want to pair a headset. No, I don't do headphones. So press "do not pair" and on it goes. No need for Comms.
You didn’t mention the increased capacity panniers which, I understand, can now accommodate a full face helmet. I ordered a full spec DCT in early October and am just waiting on them arriving in stock! Can’t wait!
The Manual model is only available with the standard suspension, not the the ES, but they didnt have any at the launch, so i wasn't able to see what changes, if any had been made to the suspension
A lot of testers have complained of bad Turbulence from the screen on its highest position. The old version never usually had this problem, so something could be wrong. They have made a lot of small changes, just hope they dont make it worse, just for style.
That will all depend on the rider and their helmet. As you can see from my video I spent a lot of time with it in the highest position and it was no problem at all.
@@mancavemoto Thank you, i have a 25 model on order, i know people are all different with height and helmet make, so its possible some combinations can cause issues.

Finally got that Electronic Suspension, but let’s face it-this is just a Tourer, not a Sport Tourer. It’s missing that thrill factor when you hit the twisties. Honda really should’ve added radar cruise-that would’ve nailed it as the ultimate touring beast. Right now, bikes like the Tracer 9 GT+ and Versys 1100 SE are bringing the spark and excitement that the NT just doesn’t have.
@ this is great news! I currently ride 2018 Goldwing DCT, non tour which is a brilliant bike and have almost 149,000 miles on it. I also own 2017 VFR 1200X DCT, 2010 VFR 1200F DCT, and 2009 Yamaha FJR 1300 AE so I’m quite experienced with the semi/full auto gearboxes. I’ve also owned a 2016 Africa Twin DCT, but it didn’t have the power I was looking for at the time, and I thought I was going to do more off roading, but I didn’t. I really do like what Honda has done with the NT1100 though, and can’t wait to test ride it. Thanks for your response. Ride safe…
Thanks Tony, grwat job as always What a shame that we don't get it in the US, I'll buy it without doubt eventhough I have been riding drive shaft for the las 15 years. A Scott Oiler will be enough for me...
@@mancavemoto Hi Tony, can you tell us your source for that info? Cycle World, Motorcyclist, etc. are reporting it's not coming to the USA. If it is, I'd be extremely excited, as it fits the bill for what I'm looking for. Any info would be helpful. Thanks for the great review!
Sure my source was the R&D team from Honda Japan who were at the European launch. I suspect there’s been a little bit of plagiarism amongst those articles, or they’ve been fed different information? I specifically asked the question as I know I have a lot of viewers in the US
Hello, I'm 6 foot 3 inches and have a ATSES DCT 2020 with 15k. I was thinking of this for touring and perhaps the 300 rally with the improved suspension for green laning. What do you think? Thanks
Great video. I'm looking to downsize to something like this. Definitely would prefer shaft drive but looks like a pretty good bike. I haven't had a chain in 40 years. My question, is this a bike that could do 70 to 80 mph all day long? That was one of the reasons I got my FJR. Thanks!
Thank you for the review! I have a question about CarPlay, you mentioned that is still wired, that’s a shame, but it is possible to connect the phone under the seat? Does it have a port there?
Awesome, care to share which one? Because I was suspecting this would happen, I was already looking at options and so far the one that I’m considering is QuadLock dongle.
I wonder if they've sorted out the paint. My fuel tank went rusty after 600miles 6 weeks riding from new and Honda refuse to deal with it under warranty saying it's normal. I'm currently having to take it through the motoring ombudsman in the UK to get a resolution. Very poor quality from a manufacturer who used to be A**. Other than that the bike is excellent and really looks like they have added the icing to the 2025. The DCT gear box/clutch is fantastic. If you demo one you will need to give it time otherwise you could easily right it off as a none starter, but believe me it's worth trying to get your head around the thing. I use the S1 mode and manually change up and back down when overtaking, otherwise the DCT is fantastic and lazy. Just what you want in those mountain passes instead of all that cutch work. The rear suspension is soft and I have had mine re-worked by Maxton's but it sounds like the electronic suspension may have gotten over that. I wish I had waited for the 2025 model, but simply I wasn't aware of the changes coming. To be able to adjust the screen when riding is another must and major improvement, I have understood why the previous model had that ridiculous off the bike adjustment set up, crazy idea. It really looks like Honda have sorted it out with the 2025 model. The Android Auto system can easily and cheaply be made wireless with a dongle which is another major step forward for bikers in my opinion. Apps like Kurviger make it super useful for curvy touring routes and if your just commuting, the usual Google maps works fantastic as you would expect. It really is like being in your car with access to all the usual music apps. Just really disappointed with the paint finish on mine, and even worse the response from Honda UK.
Thanks for this. One question: is it a “good for everything” bike? Meaning, is it good enough for moving around in the city, groceries shopping and commuting, in your oppinion?
Hi, now we have a few bikes with automatic transmission, GS, Tracer and Honda. Can you try to compare the automatic transmission on those bikes? I have a NT1100 DCT 22’ happy with the bike , but not on slow u-turns
What's the power output like on the new NT1100? For some reason Honda made it weaker than the Africa Twin, which is why I picked the AT, but I think if it was made as powerful, like 105bhp or more, it would be awesome.
Largely it’s the seat height, riding position, weight and looks. The NT obviously comes with panniers as standard, and is a touch easier to manoeuvre. If you are sticking to tarmac only then the NT makes a lot of sense
I ride an AT but to be honest, an NT1100 would be a far better fit for My use case (never go off road nowadays) - as I suspect it would be for a whole load of other riders. I really liked the original NT but this is the one that might finally wrestles my hands off my AT....
I live in the US, and unfortunately, the NT1000 is not an option. Which do you prefer between this bike and the Moto Guzzi Stelvio? I have been leaning toward the BMW R1300GS, but the cost of the Stelvio is much more attractive. I wish we had more options and I am one of the guys that wants the driveshaft. I am in my mid sixties and want to move away from my 2009 BMW K1300S and 2006 Honda VFR800. Less sport, more tour. BTW, you do a wonderful job on the reviews.
Hi and thanks for watching. The NT1100 will be hitting the US in May, so it could still be an option, although of course not with a shaft drive. The Stelvio is a great bike to ride and offers something a bit different, but as you mention shaft drive bikes are a bit thin on the ground now.
No I mean what countries website? Where are you based? heres the uk page for the new models www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range/touring/nt1100/overview.html
Yup, I'm one of those people in the comments who is going to nag about the lack of shaft drive. A bike isn't a toy to me and if a machine is made for mile munching and commuting, it should be as practical as possible for high milers and all weather use. A glance at BMW sales should be enough to prove the point. If they'd put a drive shaft on it, I'd order it today, for a company like Honda that's no biggie (they did it with the 650 v-twin shared by NTV650 and XLV650 years ago) but I appreciate that the European big bore market is barely a blip on the company's revenue spreadsheet. I personally don't care about the price all that much, I've had CBs, CBRs and several ST1100s, I know Honda will always be value for money. It's obviously an amazing bike (I have the engine in my CMX1100 toy) but right now it's a pizza without the cheese, it's quite simply not done yet.
It’s heavy enough without shaft drive, saps power too…my three GSs had a terrible gearbox not helped by the shaft. Modern chains are easy to maintain…now riding a lovely chain drive Multistrada.
Yeah I can live without the extra expense, complication and more importantly weight of shaft drive, doesn’t put me off probably buying this bike when the lack of weather and wind protection on my Ducati Supersport gets old..
@@chris6559 I don't see what the extra complication is in having far less maintenance and if the additional weight equivalent of three big macs is going to slow you down... You must be a jockey.
@@marcvanartevelde5586 I do see the appeal, chain maintenance and management is a ballache but I survive, a centre stand helps of course and this bike has one..
Always thought of the NT1100 as Honda's version of Yamaha 's Tracer 900GT just not as sporty. It's quite a hansom bike but the original colour options were really boring , hopefully the 2025 colours will rectify that . Quite surprised to hear you state the NT 1100 was Europe's best selling tourer in 2023 as I can't say I have seen many out on the road in either UK or Europe, I saw a lot of Yamaha Tracers and Kawasaki Versys models.
@ I will watch a review in the future of night ride with a bite to see how it is. I’m in the United States. Apparently they’re not gonna sell the bike here which is disappointing cause I want one. I really like the bike. Good review excellent
Does anyone have any thoughts on why this bike is not offered in US? If you don't live on east or left coast of this country, European bike dealerships are quite limited but Honda, Kawasaki, etc. are everywhere.
@@mancavemoto Excellent! Thanks for the update. Hopefully we don't get the Henry Ford treatment and are offered any color we want as long as it's black.
Great design & features, shame about the emissions compliant parallel twins in all these bikes. Put one of Honda's fantastic v4 engines in it and this bike would be great.
I would love to hear the reasoning from Honda as to why this is not sold in the US. It can't cannabilize the Goldwing, it's too different a machine in so many ways. What does Honda offer in the US that competes directly with Yamaha's FJR1300, or T9 GT, both of which I have and enjoy immensely.
I just read it is indeed coming to the usa in May but only as a police bike sold to police officers. I have never heard of a company releasing a police version without a civilian version. Can someone explain this thinking from Honda? I went and bought a Harley Panamerica because I gave up on the nt1100!
That is incorrect. The bike will be on general sale in the summer of 2025. It has ALSO been chosen by the police in some states as the bike to make up their two wheeled fleet.
@@mancavemoto I saw four sites yesterday that said police only. I hope you are correct and I am wrong. Guess I will stop buying parts for my Panamerica and wait some more. The local Honda dealer knows nothing.
My information came from the R&D team from the factory in Japan who were at the European launch. So I’m pretty sure it’s correct, the said articles may well have got wrong information (or maybe one did and the others have plagiarised the content?)
@mancavemoto no way :) i heard on the press release that it was only for Europe. Thats totally cool if it is. Its impossible to get adventure touring bikes here
I specifically asked the guys from Japan at the launch, and they confirmed it was hitting in the summer, possibly May. I should have mentioned it in the video
A have the 2024 year..and its on/off in low speed..you turn the trottle a millimeter and your body turns back and the speed goes to high..so you turn it back a millimeter and your body fly forward i hate that and i thought thas was history nowdays..
The redesign headlights are really poor and badly needed a second set of Denali attached for s lot of dark night drivers dipped they are a seriously bad for deer seeing, high beam is the only adequate
It's a problem with touring bike review, few if any consider the comfort of the passenger. I can see the logic for sports bikes but many touring bikes are used two up. A BMW GT800 l had years ago came with luggage etc but when used two up the suspension bottomed out, it was a useless 2 up tourer despicable looking the part.
To be fair it’s not something you get to experience on a launch. Although the guys from Honda Japan that were with us were riding two up. The electronic suspension version makes it really easy as it has preset preload for rider, rider + luggage, rider + pillion and rider, plus pillion and luggage. You can also adjust independently.
Nothing wrong with this bike mechanically. The problem is visuals..the first version looked so….bland.. like a whale from the side, and a big scooter from the front 😅 Guess Honda got the message.
So Honda will you listen to an ole American Honda motorcycle rider ? Would you please sell this bike in the USA. I can't believe you don't have a high selling market here. Common Honda.
Nice to see a big manufacturer like Honda listening to customers and sorting out the slight issues from the previous version. It looks a great bike.
The screen! My word. My 23 nt1100 the screen needs so much force to move it! It's on highest and isn't moving again. I'm terrified of snapping it

Hi, now we have a few bikes with automatic transmission, GS, Tracer and Honda. Can you try to compare the automatic transmission on those bikes?
I have a NT1100 DCT 22’ happy with the bike , but not on slow u-turns
Sopunds like a good idea, I'll try and work out the logistics
What's the power output like on the new NT1100? For some reason Honda made it weaker than the Africa Twin, which is why I picked the AT, but I think if it was made as powerful, like 105bhp or more, it would be awesome.
Power output is identical to the Africa Twin.
Difference between the NT and Africa Twin for touring? THANKS
Largely it’s the seat height, riding position, weight and looks. The NT obviously comes with panniers as standard, and is a touch easier to manoeuvre. If you are sticking to tarmac only then the NT makes a lot of sense
Good value compared with the adventure equivalents.
Too big for me, but if you like that sort of thing..
Ride safe 👍
I ride an AT but to be honest, an NT1100 would be a far better fit for My use case (never go off road nowadays) - as I suspect it would be for a whole load of other riders. I really liked the original NT but this is the one that might finally wrestles my hands off my AT....
Nice review Tony, for me it would be a no only because no electronic suspension on the manual gearbox😢 any reason why ??
Fair enough, not sure why. They sell more DCT than manual, so perhaps that drives the decision. It could also be a future offering I guess?
The question is, does it perform so much better on the road than the AT with 19" wheel as to compensate for the possible lack of versatility?
It is definitely sharper on the road
How come I can NOT find any thing about Honda's NT1100 on the Honda website? I've Never seen any at the Honda dealerships either.
Which country?
@@mancavemoto I think Honda motorcycles all sold everywhere
@@marcvanartevelde5586 ..also about 20kgs I’ve read is the weight penalty? If that’s true it’s significant surely?
Always thought of the NT1100 as Honda's version of Yamaha 's Tracer 900GT just not as sporty. It's quite a hansom bike but the original colour options were really boring , hopefully the 2025 colours will rectify that . Quite surprised to hear you state the NT 1100 was Europe's best selling tourer in 2023 as I can't say I have seen many out on the road in either UK or Europe, I saw a lot of Yamaha Tracers and Kawasaki Versys models.
The only real criticism of the previous NT was the fact that the front end was ugly as sin, it's been improved a bit but is still way to bulky.
I’m not very happy I bought a Red DCT version in April….my timing is terrible 😞
How are the lights low beam and high beam for night riding you don’t mention that
That’s because we didn’t ride at night on the launch…
@ I will watch a review in the future of night ride with a bite to see how it is. I’m in the United States. Apparently they’re not gonna sell the bike here which is disappointing cause I want one. I really like the bike. Good review excellent
I spoke with Honda at the launch, and it is hitting the US in the summer, possibly as early as may
@ thank you I’m so glad to hear that. I’ll be looking. Thanks again. Appreciate you.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why this bike is not offered in US? If you don't live on east or left coast of this country, European bike dealerships are quite limited but Honda, Kawasaki, etc. are everywhere.
It’s arriving in the US in the summer!
@@mancavemoto Excellent! Thanks for the update. Hopefully we don't get the Henry Ford treatment and are offered any color we want as long as it's black.
Do you know if it is coming to Canada too,and yes shaft drive would be nice. Thanks for the review 😎🏍💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻from British Columbia
In know it’s arriving in the US in the summer, not sure if that means Canada too?
Is the seat heated or is there an option to have one?
No heated seat as standard, and I can’t see an option in the accessories…yet
Its got a perfect spot in the middle of the light cluster for a radar unit Honda for ACC, just saying
😉😏
It's a shame Honda don't offer this bike in the US! It would be on my short list.
It’s arriving in the US in May next year!
@@mancavemoto Awesome! Thanks
Looks much improved. Has it still got too many buttons on the left?
Yes the controls haven’t changed
@mancavemoto that's unfortunate.
Great design & features, shame about the emissions compliant parallel twins in all these bikes. Put one of Honda's fantastic v4 engines in it and this bike would be great.
Needs ACC as all other big manufacturers offer that now.
Which one should I choose? Honda NT1100 or Yamaha Tracer 9 GT +. It is very difficult to decide. You should ask Honda why there is no radar.
@@stephc4427 it arrives in the US in May 25
So the red one is out for 2025 😢
@@Alexanderpaal67 yes sadly
I’m so upset that they won’t sell this bike in the United States.
@@gregbutler2491 it’s launching in the US in the summer!
A more practical Africa Twin; a less attractive Africa Twin. To my eyes. Great bike, though.
no elekt windscreen for that prise
I wish this was available in US
It’s hitting the US in the Summer!
Sad that the Carplay / Android Auto still needs a wired connection. That's really unnecessary & quite a bother.
Can't understand why this isn't in Canada
It’s heading to the US in May, which I assume would mean Canada too?
Only real competition is probably the new Tracer 9 GT+ or the Versys 1100 (with ES)
A have the 2024 year..and its on/off in low speed..you turn the trottle a millimeter and your body turns back and the speed goes to high..so you turn it back a millimeter and your body fly forward i hate that and i thought thas was history nowdays..
Many of us ride 2 up but reviews seem to presume everyone rides one up.....
The Japanese engineers were riding with us and they were two up. All seemed fine. The ES makes adding preload simple
Carplay is wired even in a car!
Not all of them
The redesign headlights are really poor and badly needed a second set of Denali attached for s lot of dark night drivers dipped they are a seriously bad for deer seeing, high beam is the only adequate
The lights on the 2025 model?
Nice bike. Would be a 'no-brainer' for me if it had shaft drive, or even better - a belt. Shame.
Weight please
Mine or the bikes? 😀
It needed shaft drive then I would have upgraded from my st1300
The 2025 Honda Forza 750 cc looks lighter, has an electric screen and cruise control. For an old fart like me it sounded a better option.
The problem is visuals..the first version looked so….bland.. like a whale from the side, and a big scooter from the front 😅
Guess Honda got the message.
So Honda will you listen to an ole American Honda motorcycle rider ?
Would you please sell this bike in the USA.
I can't believe you don't have a high selling market here. Common Honda.
It’s arriving in the US in the summer
Sorry Tony since it came out I just think it’s such an ugly duckling .
That’s fair enough, it’s not for everyone
That's just a gigantic scooter!
It really isnt...
@timoakley277 whats the difference?
The six speed gearbox for starters…
@mancavemoto jajaaj. Well, yes. So, the dct is a giant scooter! Lol.
🤦🏻♂️ the DCT is also a six speed gearbox… 🙄
