Hellcat driver tells cop social media has paid for his car in new bodycam footage

- Newly released bodycam footage from the Seattle Police Department showed the "Belltown Hellcat" driver telling an officer he had no intention of stopping his behavior any time soon.
Last week, the Seattle City Attorney's Office filed a motion in court Friday alleging Miles Hudson, the so-called "Belltown Hellcat" driver accused of racing his Dodge Charger through city streets and waking people up with his loud exhaust, has failed to respond to the city's lawsuit and is subject to $83,200 in penalties.
The newly obtained video also captured Hudson telling the officer his social media following has paid for the car. Hudson has been ordered by a court not to drive the Charger and the city issued him a notice of violation for the excessive noise with an order to remove the car's illegal exhaust system, according to prosecutors.
The city attorney's office alleges Hudson continues to "flaunt" his Charger's excessive noise on his Instagram account. Hudson now faces at least $83,000 in penalties, $1,300 for each day his car is not fixed, according to court records.

Here is North America (I'm in British Columbia, but frequent Washington State often), and there is no real speeding capture (e.g. not as many red lights, or speed cameras). In BC, there are SO many accidents.
People will often go 30-40km+ in areas because no enforcement.

In a city as big as seattle. In a small town this could be normal. My parents were friends with the chief of police and they used to drag me to every police event. Cops knew my name and every time I was pulled over, they called my parents the same day or next day.

@@robert2097 I understand why you think that's true, but as a cop of almost 30 years (I've been out of the ticket writing business for a long time, however) trust me, even when they admit it they can still come to court and argue, and even win. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen. In my city a lot of the time if they had a good enough reason for why they were speeding or a creative excuse, the judge would let them off with a warning. Also very young first time offenders and very old driver were given warnings by the judge.
I do agree however you shouldn't admit to speeding, obviously. In addition, your best bet is to be respectful and polite and do everything you can to not stick out in the cop's mind, so that by the time you come to court with your argument (with or without a lawyer) the cop isn't going to be particularly invested in your case and will likely only have taken minimal notes on the stop.
Hell, once I had a guy plead guilty for speeding, but I had lost my carbon copy of the ticket, so in a sense of fair play I told the judge I wanted to dismiss the ticket because I didn't have my notes that would have been on the back of my copy of the ticket, so I couldn't prosecute the case because I didn't remember the details. Had he been a dick, I'd have remembered the details, made sure to treat that carbon copy very carefully and that wouldn't have happened. If you act like a horse's arse, argue, or insult the cop, well then he's going to make sure to remember to cross every T and dot every "i" to make the ticket stick. That's just human nature. It amazes me how many videos I see on YT (and how many times I have experienced it myself) that people talk themselves into a ticket (or arrest) when they would have just gotten a warning. Although it is distressing to get a ticket (and yes I have gotten one), it's not a personal attack on you as an individual like people treat it. I've had people "beat" me on a ticket for court and act like they just dunked on me personally. But, I STILL won even when they got a "not guilty": I was paid to be there, they weren't. They likely sat around for at least 30-60 minutes awaiting their turn to plead their case. The brass never ever cared about a conviction rate on anything, they just wanted to see tickets written so that they knew you weren't being a slug. A "guilty" on a ticket is just icing on the cake to the cop, if he even thinks about it (which most don't).

@@SL-pg4dh Can confirm. In Pennsylvania local cops don't have radar they only do the white timed strips in the road. I got pulled over by a cop once on a road I know there's no white lines on, and he was like man it looked like you were going pretty fast, how fast were you going? I replied the speed limit and he was like welp it seemed fast, just keep it down and gave me a warning. I wonder what he would've done if I said I was speeding and gave him the actual number with him not actually clocking me.

People don’t realize how good they have got it here as far as moving violations and parking violations. Doesn’t matter the staffing levels of police and parking enforcement. I’ve tracked these violations for more than 10 years. Very sympathetic attitude by the enforcers. In some cities you get towed immediately if you have no license plates. Here, you can drive and park on the street indefinitely. Same goes for expired tabs. I’ve watched police ignore red light runners and people driving without headlights at night and many other violations involving cars, pedestrians and cyclists. Some of it is politicians influencing what police enforce.
