Heard of Seger back then but never listened to him singing any songs until now ...THIS IS HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL SONG (lyrics) and his voice is incredible!! 💫👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💕 (Portland Oregon USA 🇺🇸)
He's longing for the simple joy of his youth, with a girl he knew was his just for the moment. The older you get, the more personal that becomes. We all have those things that are gone forever, that we'd give anything to relive.
I lived the song, even had a '60 chevy, had, double date with a friend, we later married the girls, after living out the song and at around the same time were divorced. Much later married again, 2nd romance, far fewer mysteries, and a lot more clues, still married, with a far better understanding of "autumn closing in". Can now wistfully look back on a time that was, but will never be again for me, but for others is, and will always be, just change the vehicles, names and places.
Bob Seger has many great songs. Definitely must do ‘Against the Wind’ and ‘Hollywood Nights’, as well as ‘Main Street’, ‘Like a Rock’, ‘Turn the Page’, ‘Old Time Rock and Roll’, ‘Still the Same’
I'm not a die hard fan like some...but when this song came out it stood out amongst a lot of the over produced and schmaltzy stuff of the time. And it stands the test of time. Yep. Great song.
Bob Seger has stood the test of time extremely well. If fact, to me he sounds even better now. Against The Wind is another to check out. Daniel, nice new intro, hope it sticks.
I just love that "I remember, I remember" at the end....he evokes so much feeling. Always my favourite of his. How about his original version of Ramblin Gamblin Man?
The thunder, now that I'm older, has a slightly different feel ... not quite ominous, not exactly threatening, but perhaps referencing his impending old(er) age and all the challenges that come with it. "Woke last night to the sound of thunder, How far off I sat and wondered." I dunno. It just feels deeper ... Anyway loved the song as a teenager, love it even more at 50 something. Thanks for doing this one.
When you really think about it ... Bob wrote this when he was only 29 ... very perceptive for a young man. And the song has nothing to do with losing virginity...its about reminiscence of youthful passion

Okay, so this is BY FAR my favorite Bob Seger tune. It's just great on so many levels. I have to say, when I first heard this, as a young teenager (like, 13, 14), I thought of "Night Moves" being the moves you put on girls/women at night, and not the sexual ones, as it becomes clear later on is what he's really talking about, but as a really young teenager, that just wasn't my first thought. When I started getting seriously deep into music over the next few years, the meaning changed more to what you're getting out of it--that it's talking about working on getting better in bed as a teenager. There was certainly a longing, but in my late teen years, it was just for another relationship. When I listened to this song in older adulthood, the meaning changed yet again to being one of nostalgia--a dude looking back on his teen years remembering the innocence of it all. It becomes really bittersweet. He remembers the pain. He remembers the uncertainty. He remembers the beauty of youth. He remembers how new it all was to him way back when, and how amazing and wonderful it was... "oh, I sure remember the night moves" he sings without any pain, but with kind of a wink and a smile. I love that the meaning of this song has changed so much for me over the years. It certainly does make me remember my own "working and practicing all of the night moves" with great fondness. Cheers, Daniel. We haven't said hi in a bit. I hope all is well with you.

I'm 71 and before Bob became nationally recognized he would come down from Detroit to Columbus Ohio to play in a club called the Sugar Shack. Back then he was Bob Seger and the Last Herd. He was regionally popular with songs like Heavy Music, East Side Story, Chain Smoking. His 1st national hit , I believe, was Ramblin' Gamblin' Man as the Bob Seger System. It's was absolutely personal for every teenage boy in those days - going through puberty and trying to figure out just what the Hell was going on. Damn! I like that you did the lyrical version. Bob Seger's songs didn't need videos; they were all about the feels, and about the story he was telling. Musical heaven. Nice comments and dissection again. Thanks.

The thing to notice is that the first section is in the past tense, It ends in the present tense. "I was...I remember" No one does nostalgia better than Bob Seger.
Dissecting the lyrics is not difficult for this song. It touched the heart of many both men and women. In the days of his youth like the majority of us in the times of free sex, we all felt a little urge to our first love. Turn the page (no pun intended) fifty years and we sit back and can remember those first moments whether we are lying on the beach or see and old car where we shared that moment with someone special; and that person remains in our soul today. Funny sometimes when I am listening to thunder late at night I remember other special moments conjuring up a time and place, including this song itself and start humming this tune. I wrote this in an earlier comment; plenty of Bob Seger to listen to if you understand the meaning of it: Bob Seger - from 2 + 2 to Night Moves this guy was the Detroit Boy that was always Running Against the Wind. Like a Rock he was Shamed by the Moon so Turn the page to find more hits. Just Roll With it and You'll Accomp'ny Me all the way down Main Street.
Bob has been rockin' in a band since the mid 60's. His story telling skills weren't as developed back then but he was a rocker. " Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Persecution Smith" are from his early days.
So many great tunes by this man & his band! My favorites are New Coat of Paint, Katmandu (live), Roll Me Away, Hollywood Nights, The Fire Inside. The list goes on & on. Love the keyboards in his songs.
Daniel, :) I hope your auditions went well and school is also. :) Was so excited to see a Bob Seger song in my Notifications! Anything by Bob Seger is good in my opinion. Magnificent singer/songwriter. Something about his voice just makes me 'feel' everything he's singing about. *Roll Me Away *Against The Wind *Fire Lake *Like A Rock *You'll Accompany Me *Beautiful Loser *Turn The Page I'm sure that I'll see quite a few more of his great songs listed in the comments. :)
nightmoves, about a gal that was there, when we couldnt have the one we loved,or thought we loved..but realized later,it was the best of times, even the love of our life...autumn..growing old..
Any Bob Seger song you choose is a good choice. But I say go way back to the "60's for Ramblin Gamblin Man. Great vocals, I love that growling voice. Also Come To Poppa. Hollywood Nights, Rock And Roll Never Forgets.
One great band that I never for whatever reason saw live. Going to have to rectify that if and when he returns to the road. Great reaction. So many of his tunes are worthy of a reaction from you. Most of them are already mentioned in other comments.
There’s a cool animated movie from 82’ about Bob and his previous 3 generations called “American Pop”. Top notch artistic work by master animator, Ralph Bakshi - a fun watch !
It personifies the memories of a great many of us that came of age, around that time. I remember that certain period when my girlfriend and I experienced a summer like that. It seems almost magical, now. Great song!
It was personal for him. He had a casual girlfriend during a time when her boyfriend was away in the service. When the boyfriend returned their “romance” was over. It is very melancholy. It has such a strong affect on me, so much more so now than when I was a teen when this first came out. This is probably my favorite song of his. Another good one is “Main Street”. So glad you reacted to this. BTW check out Andy and Alex’s reaction to this. It was really cool.
My favourite Bob Seger song too, by a long way .. And yes, Andy and Alex did a fantastic reaction to it .. Probably my favourite one of theirs .. Cheers, Wayne
@@wayne_twentyfive We probably shouldn’t comment on other reactors here, because Daniel did a lovely reaction. ❤️💋 However, for Bob Seger fans, Patrol Gaming reacted to a large number of Seger songs last year, and it truly warmed this fan girl’s heart.

Bob Seger has a big catalog - ballads like Main Street, Turn the Page and Against the Wind, and bangers like Rock and Roll Never Forgets and K-K-K-K-K-K-Katmandu! (my favorite) This song does feel very real to many of us, and more so the older we get.
Personal for anyone really. Autumn means he is getting old but to me when the beat increased he began to celebrate those memories but excepting how life(night) moves. Probably my favorite Bob Seger song.
Still powerful almost 50 years later. Great reaction. You smiled softly in all the right moments. Check out the live album “Live Bullet” recorded just before this and before he became a hits on the radio artist. It’s incredible.
"With Autumn closing in." is in my Top 50 favorite rock and roll moments. It is his recognition that the life he's lived as a youth was passing and adulthood and responsibility was about to settle upon him. it's a quiet realization that life moves inexorably forward.
Love this song, but it always makes me cry. If someone can make me cry, I tend to think they are brilliant. Bob has a few, but the Rolling Stones have even more songs like this that make me cry: Angie, Wild Horses, Time Waits For No One, etc.

I have a special request! Will you please do some reactions to 10,000 Maniacs songs? They are a band from 80s/early 90s. Natalie Merchant was the lead singer. She later went on to be a solo artist in the mid 90s, and had a number of radio hits you’ve probably heard before. She’s quite an impressive musical artist and unique voice, and reactions videos to her are sorely lacking on YT. Many of her songs had social messages that made you think (alcoholism, child abuse, teenage pregnancy, depression, consumerist society...) Some 10,000 Maniacs songs you could choose from are: Trouble Me, Eat For Two, Like the Weather, What’s the Matter Here?, Don’t Talk, Candy Everybody Wants, You Happy Puppet, Because the Night. Studio versions, please. All these songs have music videos to them, if you want to use the music video.
You should always turn the volume up to Max, as we can always adjust ours! “Tongue and Cheek” by Sugerloaf is a great banger that didn’t get as much play time as Green Eyed Lady, but many others including myself think it’s a better song! Great singing, organ and duel guitar solos!
Hollywood Nights - a great rocker! "front page drive-in news" - back in the day you took your date to the drive-in to make out/hopefully have sex that the men could then brag about. I saw Bob Seger multiple times over the years, always a great show. When the song slows down all the lights would go off except for a spotlight on a large mirror ball above the crowd plunging the audience into the night with the stars all around.
This has been one of favorite songs since I first heard it in 1976, waking up in the middle of the night and it was quietly playing on the radio. Main Street is probably my other favorite, it has a very nostalgic feel to it like Night Moves, but there are many other great ones. Thanks for the reaction!
Great choice and great reaction. As a young guitar player, this was the first song where I found that I could change chords without stopping to reposition my fingers. It started to become fluid playing from that point forward.
This song will hit you much harder the older you get. I don't think it was about any particular girl or relationship, but youth in general. Of course the second half is the regret of looking back over his life and longing for those times.
I used to listen to this song, and Against The Wind in the dark, on the radio, at 3 in the morning,.looking out my bedroom window, staring into the darkness
Good to see you, man. Seger's not in my top tier, but this number is strong. And it means something different to an older person, especially that line "with autumn closing in".
glad you seem to enjoy these oldies, your dad gets it,life when these songs came out was some the best times ever... cars n music n slack laws compared to now..and women were great!....and at the same time,it was the worst of times for myself and many others.
Daniel, thank you for another great, thoughtful reaction! You are truly wise far beyond your years! Main Street, Turn The Page (which I will bet you have done) and Ramblin' Gamblin' Man would be my recommendations!
Main street is another great melancholy song but if you want a rocker go with Strut or The Fire Down Below. He doesn't have any bad songs that I know of. DIVE IN!

From Wikipedia: (Live Bullet is a live album by American rock band Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band, released in April 1976. It was recorded at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan, during the heyday of that arena's time as an important rock concert venue. The album is credited, along with Night Moves, with launching Seger's mainstream popularity.) Incredible performance start to finish. I didn’t see this show but was lucky enough to see him many times since . BTW the legendary Kiss Live double set was recorded at Cobo Hall as well. Enjoy your channel and reviews. Rock on!
The thing to notice is that the first section is in the past tense, It ends in the present tense. "I was...I remember"
No one does nostalgia better than Bob Seger.
It's been so long, Daniel...I felt like reacting to The Who's "Who Are You"! 🤣
So many great tunes by this man & his band! My favorites are New Coat of Paint, Katmandu (live), Roll Me Away, Hollywood Nights, The Fire Inside. The list goes on & on. Love the keyboards in his songs.
My favorite Seger song is, Turn the Page, love the sax 🎷 in that song
That’s the one other Seger song Daniel has done. Very nice reaction.
Daniel, :)
I hope your auditions went well and school is also. :)
Was so excited to see a Bob Seger song in my Notifications!
Anything by Bob Seger is good in my opinion. Magnificent singer/songwriter.
Something about his voice just makes me 'feel' everything he's singing about.
*Roll Me Away
*Against The Wind
*Fire Lake
*Like A Rock
*You'll Accompany Me
*Beautiful Loser
*Turn The Page
I'm sure that I'll see quite a few more of his great songs listed in the comments. :)
for 45 years now this song has been invoking pretty much the same reaction - that says it all
nightmoves, about a gal that was there, when we couldnt have the one we loved,or thought we loved..but realized later,it was the best of times, even the love of our life...autumn..growing old..
"It sounds like he's remembering"
Continues playing and Bob says "I remember" about 50 times. :)
Any Bob Seger song you choose is a good choice. But I say go way back to the "60's for Ramblin Gamblin Man. Great vocals, I love that growling voice. Also Come To Poppa. Hollywood Nights, Rock And Roll Never Forgets.
If the Van is a rocking, don't come a knocking.
Recommend Against the Wind by Mr Seger.
One great band that I never for whatever reason saw live. Going to have to rectify that if and when he returns to the road. Great reaction. So many of his tunes are worthy of a reaction from you. Most of them are already mentioned in other comments.
Seger's early anti-draft (Vietnam era) tune is seldom heard but still packs a punch. see "2+2=?"
Yaaasss...
...and, Welcome Back!
There’s a cool animated movie from 82’ about Bob and his previous 3 generations called “American Pop”. Top notch artistic work by master animator, Ralph Bakshi - a fun watch !
This song was featured in Amarican Pop, an animated movie about Rock and Roll. That's the video version you ought to check out.
It personifies the memories of a great many of us that came of age, around that time. I remember that certain period when my girlfriend and I experienced a summer like that. It seems almost magical, now. Great song!
Hollywood Nights, Brave Strangers, Ramblin' Man/Beautiful Loser (from Live Bullet)
The song called Still the Same is another classic
Roll me away should be next for sure🎶🎶💕💕
8:13 "Old Time Rock and Roll"...then go back and watch Tom Cruise dance to it in the movie "Risky Business".
“I used her, she used me, neither one cared”.
Sure Bob. Sure.
However, for Bob Seger fans, Patrol Gaming reacted to a large number of Seger songs last year, and it truly warmed this fan girl’s heart.
@@itzel1735 Fair point .. Wasn't meaning to detract at all from Daniel's reaction, which was as always, thoughtful and well delivered .. I was just agreeing with the OP about A&A's one, as I remembered it very fondly .. And thanks for the tip about Pattol Gaming .. Will take a look soon .. Wayne

😁 ✌🏽Both channels A&A and DDR are great.
p.s. search YT for “Patrol Gaming Seger”. His reactions were split between his 2 channels.
Hello Daniel, nice to see you back, and with a great song as well
Please react to Whiskey Lullaby by Allyson Krauss! and Take Me To Church by Hozier. Thanks!
I’d venture to say pretty much all music is biographical .. isn’t this good! Remember it from the 70s. Love your thoughtful reactions.
One of the greatest songs ever recorded.
Bob Seger has a big catalog - ballads like Main Street, Turn the Page and Against the Wind, and bangers like Rock and Roll Never Forgets and K-K-K-K-K-K-Katmandu! (my favorite) This song does feel very real to many of us, and more so the older we get.
“Against the Wind” is a must listen. It’s his masterpiece (imo) and the piano work is just stunning throughout the song. Love your channel 🥰
No mention at all about the quality of the vocal performance? It's spectacular!
This man is singing about reflecting on his life now that he is moving toward the Autumn years of his life....that is my take,
"With Autumn closing in." is in my Top 50 favorite rock and roll moments.

Many of her songs had social messages that made you think (alcoholism, child abuse, teenage pregnancy, depression, consumerist society...)
Some 10,000 Maniacs songs you could choose from are: Trouble Me, Eat For Two, Like the Weather, What’s the Matter Here?, Don’t Talk, Candy Everybody Wants, You Happy Puppet, Because the Night.
Roll Me Away. That’s next up for you. But oh boy, there’s a whole bunch of great Seger to explore.
"Against the Wind" is another great one by Bob.
I used to listen to this song, and Against The Wind in the dark, on the radio, at 3 in the morning,.looking out my bedroom window, staring into the darkness
Good work on Night Moves, Daniel. Now it’s on to ‘HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS’, for some rambling rock n roll!
The days for reminiscing will come faster than you can e en understand. Now is the time to make good memories, friends, and decisions.
Roll me away and like a rock my two favorites
Good to see you, man. Seger's not in my top tier, but this number is strong. And it means something different to an older person, especially that line "with autumn closing in".
Delighted to get the notification as always, great breakdown as ever.
glad you seem to enjoy these oldies, your dad gets it,life when these songs came out was some the best times ever... cars n music n slack laws compared to now..and women were great!....and at the same time,it was the worst of times for myself and many others.
i seen him live after this song he had to quite the crowd before he could continue every hair on my body stood up
Nice breakdown of a fantastic song. Thanks!
Bob Seger doesn't have a bad song, just songs you like more
Daniel, thank you for another great, thoughtful reaction! You are truly wise far beyond your years! Main Street, Turn The Page (which I will bet you have done) and Ramblin' Gamblin' Man would be my recommendations!
Thanks Daniel
"Hollywood Nights" should be on your listen list.
Main street is another great melancholy song but if you want a rocker go with Strut or The Fire Down Below. He doesn't have any bad songs that I know of. DIVE IN!
Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser from the Live Bullet album is sublime
