- For the third February in a row, it is my honor to share my dolls in a video focused on Black History Month. For the first year, though, I confess my video feels less celebratory and more fearful/hopeless/angry. I'm hardly discussing controversial topics in it, but if you're needing something strictly lighthearted and escapist, this might not be the ideal video for you to watch and I have PLENTY of videos that fit the bill on my channel.
For those who decide to watch, thank you. I AM feeling like the odds are currently stacked against kindness and honesty in this country, and I hope that if that's the case, at the very least those traits (kindness and honesty) can prevail in the comments section below.

Good for you! Thank you for doing this video - so important. Also, your dolls are gorgeous, as always. ❤
Thank you. It's the least I can do.
Thank you for speaking about this. It helps to look at cute dolls while pondering the end of our educational system and freedom
I feel this with my whole heart.
Thank you for sharing this information. I already am working on an ulcer from the November election! I have recently thought about having a "history lesson" a week at work for the employees in their twenties or younger. I thought of it as a joke at first but I am starting to think about it seriously. I mentioned Lee Harvey Oswald in a conversation last week and the youg employee didn't know who he was. When I mentioned JFK she didn't know who he was either! History is so important. How can they understand how we arrive to this point in our county if they don't understand how it started! I am reading the book "THE 1619 PROJECT" and it is a real eye opener! By the way it is banned in Florida!
No offense to all the football coaches out there, but way too many K-12 social studies classes are taught by people who are minimally qualified to teach and were hired primarily to coach and/or by people who have never examined their own privilege or bias or questioned the narrative they were taught. I remember always wanting to luck out and get a history teacher that did more than just makes us memorize dates and regurgitate them...someone who could bring it to life and help me connect dots and see not only what happened by WHY it happened (from multiple perspectives). I never (ever) got that.
Thanks for sharing information on this topic. On another note, loved your doll dressed as Amanda Gorman.
You are welcome. I hope those of us who understand how vitally important an educated citizenry is will raise our voices in support of public education because what is being proposed is terrifying.
I really appreciate this video, and other 'more serious' ones like it that you've done
Thanks. It's not like I have a huge audience, but the few of us that watch can hopefully learn, get motivated to get loud, or both.
Excellent video all of it. Lovely doll photos as well. 💜💜💜👀
Thank you. The content (audio) is horrifying and the dolls are absolutely lovely, but such is our reality right now.
As a black woman I appreciate you for this. Thankyou ❤
You're welcome. It's literally the least I could do. I'm sorry things are so indescribably awful.
It’s so disgusting. How are we supposed to keep the past from repeating if we can’t teach it? The fact that the gov wants to essentially protect racism and limit education is very telling
Yes. The same people that have been whining about indoctrination want white nationalism, heteronormativity, scientifically unsound gender binary, etc taught in schools and can't see the irony.
As an international viewer, I find it so wild that the land of the free is actively attacking freedom of speech in educational institutions.
Wild is the word. We're living a dystopian YA novel. It's horrifying.
thank you for this video. it feels like i'm in a constant state of anger and fear since november. i've taken to writing down everything that's happening as a way to preserve history, which maybe isn't much but my hope is that if we keep talking about it, it can't be erased. they may be trying to bury history, but we can dig it back up.
Wow! What’s happening in k-12 schools bc of the political climate is just awful, in my humble opinion. 😔
It is awful. And I hope that people who care about learning the WHOLE history of our country (and not allowing white nationalism to become the curriculum) will speak up to protect public education.
Thank you so much for sharing this information. Especially for people like me who's not from the US. It's really disgusting how they're doing these things. I wouldn't be surprised if there would be a great decline of teachers in the near future. They are underpaid and now, this. It's awful.
Your dolls all look beautiful!! Thank you for sharing what’s happening across the country. My state, Oklahoma, has the worst school superintendent ever. He is a horrible human being, and wants Trumps’ attention so badly. We tried to warn people not to vote for him. We have been trying to get our legislators to impeach him, but they’re pretty worthless too. It’s no wonder we’re 49th in education! Our governor is a piece of crap too. 😡
Thank you
Of course!
Ur awesome and cool 😎😎😎
Aw, thanks :)
@agtakesover ur welcome sunshine 😁😁😁😁
@agtakesover did you pick a winner for the Samantha doll? Just curious
@rachelnorton8540 I did. It shipped out to Betty L. yesterday. She's actually giving the doll to her close friend :)
@@agtakesover cool 😎😎 congratulations to Betty 🙂🙂🙂
I think people hate when we’re thought to think we’re different. I don’t believe this is Trumps narrative on these issues. He loves different races ect. We still have a history to be kept and thought.Think about all the statues being ruined. Marten Luther King said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character”I think this is what Trump is calling for. So love your doll show💌
Creating any parallel between MLK Jr's goals and Donald Trump's is a feat of mental gymnastics I didn't know was possible. The latter seems incapable of critical thinking and shows nothing but contempt for anyone who cannot benefit him personally.
Well I must say I did vote for Trump and because of that Two of my Grand daughters will not have nothing to do with me these we’re beautiful relationships. Now there ruined by a hateful community. I never even spoke once about our difference at all. I’m hurt to the core. What are they being taught?
@@BarbaraRoode The hateful community is the one you voted for. And clearly it didn't matter to your granddaughters that you didn't speak about your differences. Actions speak louder than words, after all, and they heard your vote loud and clear. A vote for a racist rapist (etc) would be a deal breaker for me, too.
I’m 76 and we come from different worlds and they do love me and they’ll be back. God has his eyes on this situation. Take care young Lady.
@BarbaraRoode My mom is 74 and wouldn't have voted for him for a million dollars. It's about prioritizing equality and dignity. And I will take care as best I can under a regime that wants to invalidate the marriage that is the cornerstone of my family.
